Funny part of the "Mavs won't shoot mid-range jumpers like the Pacers" is that Luka and Kyrie are both leading the playoffs by a landslide in jumpers from 17 feet to the 3 point line. Both are shooting 66-67%, which is like 10% higher than the regular season leader (Middleton, 58%)

Luka will be the best player in the series. I can see him with a 30/10/10 stat line for the series.
But I got C's in six. If Porzingis is anywhere close to his best then I might go C's in 5.
I think folks are hesitant on the C's primarily because of the greatness of Luka (you know that old saying "take the team with the best player").
Also the '24 Celtics are somehow judged based on their past performances even though this isn't quite the same team (Porzingis, Jrue, emergence of White, etc.). They also lose merits by some, because of the cakewalk through the East ("they haven't been tested" narrative).
The C's have way more top end talent. Furthermore they are a bad matchup for the Mavs, especially on defense.

    • @kyle3860

I agree with this. I feel like the Celtics will have more flexibility attacking weak defensive links like Luka/Kyrie than Mavericks will have flexibility attacking Porzingis/Al.

He's a freakin savage in pressure situations, and Kyrie is a nice relief valve who can scorch them if they over-commit to Luka, or net 15 points with killer moves or assists while Luka is on the bench. Why are people so concerned about who is guarding Luka? He does most of his damage out of pick and roll. He is normally looking for mismatches and getting in the paint when he can slip through the screen. Luka is not quicker than any of the Cs perimeter defenders. So their pick and roll defense is way more important than who he is matched up with.

@@danieltravis5082 Does Dallas play 5 out? THEY DON'T?! Oh, then I reiterate my question. You're probably the guy who thinks JKidd is vastly superior to Joe Mazz, and who thinks Kyrie > Brown. Take your blinders off.

KP could be rusty, he could also be affected by being in games of an importance he has never been close to performing in. He could also be great of course, but simply predicting that him being there will make all the difference in the world is a bit shortsighted to me.

Porzingis looks healthy, but rusty, and out of game shape, he gets into foul trouble early in games 1 and 2 and Dallas ends up winning in 6

Boston has had the talent but not experience. They have had the experience but not the talent. They have had the talent and the experience but swift unexpected chaos in coaching leadership… now they have the experience, the talent, the depth, and the consistency and coaching buy-in. It’s hard to logically think the mavs will win. Luka is amazing, but it’s not enough to win 4 out of 7

4 out of 6 now. Just some additional context, the team the mavericks need to beat 4 out of 6 times is 13-2 in their last 15 with average margin of victory being 11.2 points.
Dallas is also 0-3 in their last 3 against this team with an average margin of victory being 18 points.
That’s a tall glass of water for any team to take down.

This did not marinate very well for some, but what it does show is how little some of these NBA experts, high level employees actually really know.
Makes you wonder what do they do all day, as it isn’t watching all the NBA games.

Even if porzingus isn't 100 per cent healthy, just the threat of him is dangerous enough, you got 3 guys in tatum, brown and porzingus who have averaged at least 20 points all season, Derrick white is averaging 17 points in the playoffs, I just think celtics will be able to exploit the weaker defenders dallas have that other teams havent done.

@@ernestonavarro299easy answer. Luka alone can win 2 games by himself. Kyrie can get hot on Mavs homecourt and Luka will finish Boston in game 5, add to that that Tatum has the most turnovers during the finals. So its easy, Mavs in 5 and I already put my money on it. I will not be surprised if it's a clean sweep but referees and NBA will not allow it!
