I'm a verified INFP typed by Chase, and I took Chase's Te inferior advice to heart shortly after he started this RUclips channel in 2019. INFPs---PLEASE take what Chase says here seriously. It's a night and day difference with who I am and how I relate to this world and the people in it. And if you know an INFP, please get them reading and researching challenging and uncomfortable subjects.
INFPs: Also, once you start disciplined reading and take careful notes, most other activities become pretty boring in comparison. But when it's time for you to do something else away from your reading, the world is all the more richer because of the knowledge you carry. You're really gonna love it, and being in front of a book and challenging yourself regularly will become your new comfort zone. 26 books a year is really nothing even if you just take notes on highlighted concepts. (I'd argue reading a little bit more slowly and carefully, though.) All INFPs: please start out with Mortimer J. Adler's How To Read A Book and Robert Greene's 48 Laws of Power, the latter of which isn't just for the lessons but also as a way to familiarize yourself with history and literature across the world.
I do have those fleeting moments where I actually step outside of myself like an awakening and realize that I'm not actually dumb or beneath people... But that feeling never stays. Need to somehow integrate that. I've had crime and punishment for over a year now and I'm still only on page 76. Haha I do crochet though, if that means anything. :)
I wish I have that time to just read. I also have that experience as yours but nowadays I cannot have time to read a proper book. I have a job and I am supporting my sibling with her dreams though I still have parents who are alive. I live in Philippines and the culture here is you need to support your siblings as well, especially when the parents cannot help your sibling. So nowadays I cannot stop and read.

Some of his criticisms of INFP's I do disagree with (some of that is probably due to me being an outlier of a reoccurring theme tho) there's this strange paradoxical feeling of respect I get when he criticises INFP's often accompanied with this badass no-bushit mentality he gets...
As an INFP who in recent years has become obsessed with reading and learning new knowledge daily I have seen a world of difference in my self perspective. I now have a much more positive and empowering outlook on life and all of it's possibilities! Looking back on just a few years ago I was going through a depressive patch. I didn't read, I didn't educate myself on the regular, I didn't surround myself with inspirational people and now I see how I was in such a state of depression and didn't even know it. Now I make it a point to have a daily routine of listening and reading something that is useful and educational to my life's purpose. My life has changed DRASTICALLY since, all because now I KNOW what I am capable of doing. Knowledge and the application of it truly is POWERFUL!
So cool how you described a knowledgable INFP as a stoic hermit floating above the waters. I'm so lucky to have found you because I'd never admit to myself that status & authority are that important to me. I sort of knew it though and the first time I heard it from you it made total sense. Instead of running head-on into painful experiences in an attempt to "do the right thing" by avoiding efforts of chasing power & status I can finally navigate through my fears. Introverted Feeling can talk us out of chasing power if it isn't considered a noble thing. As a result of navigating my fears more effectively I have a better time performing Extroverted Feeling too because I allow myself to strategize how I come across to others. I hope all the INFPs can do something with your advice because they certainly won't have the opportunity to hear it like this anywhere else!
He’s right. Reading multiple NF books regarding my passions and getting exposed to other people who are good at my passions and practicing what they teach improves my skills astronomically. I learn about my self through trying out those techniques and making my own techniques. Thank you csj you just motivated me to read even more.
You definitely know what you're talking about. I 1000% struggle with powerlessness. I always tell myself I'm going to read more and I never get to it. I just turned 22 though, so I need to get on it. Anyways though I always enjoy your videos, thank you for all you do!
Infp here (still figuring out the development and focus), I'm 22 and have been working at my company for over a year, and I was given an opportunity to help out a store at a different district and location that was understaffed and was having some problems. After my two days of retraining the new hire and just helping the store as much as I could, the district manager and I had a conversation, and he wanted to know my honest opinion about the store and what to focus on to improve it. I was caught off guard in a good way. Honestly, I never seriously considered growing within this company until that moment because I've had so much experience with past companies thst take my loyalty and effort for granted. Now that I say it outloud, this reminds me of relationship issued I keep running into where I quietly put in all the work and wait for praise, acknowledgment or something as my reward for this skewed act of service as opposed to, you know, a relationship where both people put in the effort.
If entp reads 100 books and an infp reads 100 books. How does the knowledge the infp acquires differ from the entp? Do they just remember better and use Fi to understand the most valuable points? When I read I try to acquire the most practically beneficial points. I don't see why infp wouldnt do the same. And isn't Fi better to read especially subjects where interpersonal dynamics are present, because Fi is concerned with relationships?
I agree that infps need to aquire the knowledge of teachers while embodying the humility and openess to learn like a student. I think what has often hindered me is the fear that my voice won't be heard or taken seriously while embodying a humble student, but as long as the wisdom is there, maybe I shouldn't be so concerned with those too proud to recognize that. I have a hard time accepting that I'm not for everyone and there will always be criticism
Socionics shows that ISTJs belong in the mind temple as LSIs (TiSe.) And that INFPs, ENFJs, ISTJs, and ESTJs all havs what Gulenko calls + Ti. Which means they value the mind.
Wouldn't the proper corresponding nomenclature on MBTI be ISTP? I think for INFP's, wherever there is fear there is also a Will to Power to cope with what is feared. But the Will to Power, according to Nietzche is ruthless, a source of evil. Speaking from experience, DON'T give advice you haven't tested unless you can remember your references. The guilt of having been a jackass will trigger your inferior, nemesis, and demon.
