Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
apostlestumpy Me too Stumpy. I was 7 and it left a mark on my life. Looking at Marcia H and Jon E now on the tube since he got snubbed on NY E at the fireworks
Awesome -- I was a little too young to appreciate it at the time (7 yo), but have since become a JCS aficionado, and English's Judas is one of the TOP renditions! Up there with Carl Anderson, no worries!
My tears flow for his family and my memories , why did he have to be taken so young . My heart felt sympathy for his family and treasured friends. RIP Jon xx
+Cameron Murray I think you speak for all Jon's fans. All my clips are on my blog, as well as many other clips, and I have posted a tribute page as well.

Saw this cast at the Capitol in Sydney Last show during the after party I snuck back in and stole some of judas's money I still have a bright orange tea towel with Jon and cast on it That was an awesome rendition with what seemed like lots to spare in reserve What a singer...thanks for the clip
knutz7 Thank you for your comment. It's always nice to see how much this show is appreciated - still! Jon said on his FB page when he posted my clip that this was his first time on TV. (Thankfully someone told me as I am not on FB.) Somewhere there is a documentary of JCSS. Not sure which channel filmed it - possibly the ABC. I wonder if it will ever be found - hope so! I have a few stills from it on my blog: not nearly enough. I would get it in a heartbeat!
1. The character is Judas 2. No one knows what Jesus, or Judas, looked like. 3. But they would have had Arabic features, with dark skin and dark eyes, not pale skin and blue eyes, as Jon English had.
+Graeme Turner I do too! Shame there don't seem to be more clips like it around. Jon's first appearance on TV. Thanks for taking the time to comment. ☻

@Josie English. You are most welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Posting this was a bit risky. I didn't know if I would lose my YT Licence as a result, but then decided to go ahead with it. Thankfully no problems. I had been told Jon posted this on his Facebook Page as well as the Sorrento clip - the last time I saw him. (I am not on Facebook). I wish I had uploaded all the others earlier. I told him at Mulwala that I knew he would be a HUGE star ever since I saw JCSS and indeed he was. Glad I did that. We had a few chats at some of the gigs I went to. He is the core of my You Tube channel, and at the core of my blog. There were always many page views of what I had posted about him. retrainyourbraintohappiness.blogspot.com/ I have thought a lot about Jon and came to the conclusion that there is/was no one as versatile as your father. There are some performers who come close but they never did everything he excelled at. None of them sang operetta! ♥ He was unique! ♥ I have just about everything of his that I could find, including most of the vinyls. I lost my father when he was slightly older - a long time ago. My most sincere condolences to you and yours. I know he is missed by so many people.

Saw the Aussie version with Jon and Trevor White and recently saw the recent JCS. Still think the oringal 1972 version was much better Love Jon English thanks so much for posting brought back some good memoires
Helen Sutton Thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree re the 1972 version. Sad there is no official footage of it although apparently they made a documentary about it according to IMDb. I would love to get it! I have a few still shots from it on my blog as well as download links for JCSS.
+Barney Davis too late now.Better to praise someone when they are alive and can enjoy it. Even a knighthood or Australian of the Year would not have been out of place, just MHO. BTW not a word from Farnsey whereas many contemporaries have made statements. I wonder why? Jon played key boards for him once.
+Barney Davis And strangely so few youtube videos available a few days back they were mostly 'Six Ribbons' which is ok but hardly his showpiece of work IMO.
agree...i like 'turn the page'- the ending is fantastic!...i know its not an original song...his work on 'Altogether now'...is also classic yet virtually unmentioned!..
I've listened to every singer try to surpass Murray Head as Judas and none, IMO, have managed to do that. Listen to the original London recording of JCS and give credit to the trailblazer of this role, Murray Head.
Hhmm. I remember the performance. I also remember being a Catholic school girl... I asked the wrong questions... If Jesus knew he was going to be crucified... Then surely Judas was put into a space to betray him. Historically, Jerusalem was kinda keen for God's at that time. Just saying
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
@ ak47wong Thanks for your comment. It's a great clip. I have had it for a very long time but finally decided to post it about a week ago. The album is great too. If you Google the song you will find a download link in MP3 format on my blog if you need it. Unfortunately I can't post URL's here.
Jon English was an amazing talent who possessed this amazing voice and presence, the whole package. Miss you Jon❤
He just gave another %200 to that performance. What an amazing talent and commitment
Saw Jon sing Judas as a child and it is by far my favourite musical. Jon is the best Judas and Ive seen alot of them!
I saw this in 76 as a 4 year old still affects me to this day at 50 . The brilliant Jon English ... Rest Easy Jon 👏🏾👏🏾
From the moment I first heard and saw him, still the best.
ROCK ! ACTING ! SIX RIBBONS WHAT A INCREDIBLE TALET ! BLESS YOU JOHN ! MICHAEL IN MELBOURNE ❤️
Every time I see Jon it's an epiphany. He had - well - a Godly stage presence.
He had it all! Can't think of too many performers who did everything Jon did!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
RIP.
I got to see this concert in 1972 in Newcastle as a four year old. I still have vivid memories of this concert.
He'll be sadly missed.
+apostlestumpy Indeed he will.
I have had emails and calls all day from many people. I have put up a post on my blog also.
+apostlestumpy Same concert , same age.

I was 8! Like it was yesterday!
I saw it too Trevor White as Jesus, Michelle Fawndon as Mary it was magical
Saw it in '72 at the Capitol as a 12 year old . Magic memory of my childhood .@@alisonholland7531
We miss you, Jon. RIP
RIP Jon... You were a true Superstar :(
+Kirrily Dures He certainly was. There was nothing he couldn't do.
Saw this cast at the Capitol in Sydney

The original JCS in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre (painted superstar brown) blew my 11 year old mind
RIP awesome performance he has amazing Jesus like features like ted Neely glen Carter and Powell etc of Jesus of Nazareth
He played Judas though, not Jesus.
He was the one who dobbed him into the Romans
1. The character is Judas
2. No one knows what Jesus, or Judas, looked like.
3. But they would have had Arabic features, with dark skin and dark eyes, not pale skin and blue eyes, as Jon English had.
Thank you for this. I've always loved the 1972 Australian Cast album and have long wanted to see Jon English perform this live. He doesn't disappoint!
Jon is hypnotic
Great Version. true
Just love this

A rock and Roll religion may be a good thing too. No disrespect intended.

wow that's fast love Jon but Tim did a great Judas..........RIP jon xxxxx
Wow, he was cute. :D
always thought Jon deserved as much credit as J Farnham....great voice..lives on!
+Barney Davis I think he was one of the most under-appreciated talents we ever saw. Not enough awards, IMHO.
..agree..

I agree! Wish there were more clips from JCSS.
Nice
fuck yeah
i saw this perforncece when i was 8 years ojd it lr
ft spell bould thanks jon
Were they playing the band per second? This version is so quick.
It's a bit too fast. He doesn't get the emotion into it, with being that fast
Very good Judas
Jon English was an Aries ♈ born during the year of The Ox🐂.
I've listened to every singer try to surpass Murray Head as Judas and none, IMO, have managed to do that. Listen to the original London recording of JCS and give credit to the trailblazer of this role, Murray Head.
True, but Jon nailed the part. No pun intended.
Hhmm. I remember the performance. I also remember being a Catholic school girl... I asked the wrong questions... If Jesus knew he was going to be crucified... Then surely Judas was put into a space to betray him. Historically, Jerusalem was kinda keen for God's at that time. Just saying

¡¡This man´s face looks like some kind of HEROIN-STONED DAVID COVERDALE´s brother!!, ¿doesn´t he?
The sped up tempo RUINED this song
that's a horrible arrangement
Out of tune
Doesn t follow the score
Average singer
