I love this so much! I just stumbled upon your stuff on Instagram and you can be darn sure I'm following and subscribed and stuffs now! I've always wanted to try sculpting with clay and have had a few ideas for projects, so maybe I'll have to give it a try now... thanks! Can't wait to see more of your work!! ^-^
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
I have to be honest, the first thing I thought of was Hermaeus Mora from The Elder Scrolls series. This would be a perfect gift for an Elder Scrolls fan. It's absolutely gorgeous, love. I love it. :D
FELLOW SKYRIM FANS ARE ALL OVER THIS COMMENT SECTION SPEAKING ABOUT HERMAEUS MORA, I AM SO PROUD OF HUMANITY, BUT ONLY FOR NOW- I wish you a wonderful day, fellow dovahkiin.
I unfortunately wound up huffing waaaay too much of that glue during a huge college art student project... I had weird vivid nightmares for days afterwards. Works great but man it does stuff to you.
I learned more from this one video than I have in the multitude of other polymer clay tutorials I've watched over the months...most of the time when people ramble on and on while demonstrating their techniques, I get so annoyed that I need to turn it off, thus ruining my educational experience!! I mainly watch either stop-motion tutorials or looking at step-by-step images through Google Search. because I can not sit through a video of someone rambling for 30 minutes. But you are very engaging and present useful and valuable information for serious, enthusiastic clayers who want to achieve great results. Thanks a bunch!
3:06 you could paint it green and end it right there if you were lazy, but it's amazing how far you went to make it look perfect. Your stuff is amazing!
I grow a lot of plants and I thought a plant themed Journal cover would be absolutely stunning!! Using bright fresh colors and ideas!!! Seeing you put out a video like that would give lots of inspiration!
Good work! Use your finished product to create a mold! You could produce more durable journal covers and as a bonus you can try different color schemes for each of them :)
So glad I came across your channel!!!! I don't use sketch books or even note books that often but I always wanted to create a cool cardboard storage book and I'm so doing this for the cover!
That glow in the dark sculpey is so cool! I love the watery color change with the lights off. And I appreciate that you make it look easy--and doable!--and that is so inspiring and fun! The best part is hearing how you accomplish these projects through trial and sometimes error. And showing design choices, texture choices that change back and forth is a clear teaching tool. I really enjoy your videos.
Suggestions.. may make it easier.... manicurists use a cute stand that has a magnetic top they attach nails to, you can actually attach anything you want though. It comes with 5 magnetic pieces with the stand so you can work on more then 1 at a time or switch out. They aren't expensive either, Aliexpress is cheapest for arts and nail supplies.. btw, the stands are for temporary work, meaning, just add a touch of clay as you did here to attach the cabo or ? On just the magnetic top. So you can try several looks or make 5 at once if you wanted to stock up a few for other works. The other suggestion... check out Yvonne Williams channel on her Dragon eyes. You might like those or a modification of them. She uses nail polishes and an EXACTO to texturize and blend the many colors like real eyes but not... you will see.
Plus.... you can grab a way larger amount of multi color shifting paints by using nail polishes. If you go to auctions, like Amazon or yard sales and buy any polish for pennies. Or craigslist even just dont get scammed and see things before you buy from there. Ebay sales too, many buy storage units and sell stuff cheaply.
Probably my favorite out of all your videos, but cephalopods are my favorite so I'm probably biased lol. The octopus pendant was great as well. I love your work very much. Thanks for being awesome!
Nice. I learned some great tips that I'll have to try when I dig my polymer clays back up. I've done a few dozen dragon eyes that would work great with this sort of project. When I get back to firing up my eyeball factory, I'll have to try your painting method and glow in the dark clay method. My current eyeball supply consists of very opaque eyes. I'm currently cycling through Victorian hairwork, Victorian beaded flowers, and embroidery for the moment.
Holy crap! I am beyond inspired! I just bought some polymer clay, and while I’m waiting for it to be shipped, I’m researching some awesome techniques and ideas. Your channel is definitely the right place for me!
I thought that honeycomb texture was really neat. I think it was good to abandon it for this journal but I could see another cool journal that featured that texture.
Love it. I did a dragons eye on a leather journal. I love doing all of the weird stuff. I m going to try your tentical cover next. thanks again for shading your tLENTS ANS FIME...
Those things you like to call pimples are actually called barnacles. They're a type of sea-life that generally latches onto boats, rocks, sea-animals, pretty much everything that one can find in the ocean will have some on them. Your sketchbook cover looks great, though.
I just made a phone cover like this and it turned out awesome but used a cat eye. Now I'm going to be more careful because I don't want the back piece I created to break😂 Thanks for the awesome tutorial! You're amazing.
This seems like an excellent video to ask this question off of... How well does polymer clay "hold up" on items that may suffer from collisions, abrasion, compression, etc? It makes sense people wouldn't bang your sculptures around. But a sketchbook can get thrown into a backpack, purse, etc. It gets used. Provided you don't have pronounced protrusions that can snap off, should polymer clay hold up to normal wear? I stripped an eyeglass case down to the steel frame and wish to cover the steel in clay. Would it hold up if someone throws it in their bag? Should I coat it in lacquer / mod podg to increase crack resistance? Your input would be appreciated.
I also wanted to do something similar to this design but feared I couldn't carry the book with me and would be forced to use it as a decorative only item.
Have you used mica powder in place of the shifting color paint? I’d like to give this a try but don’t have any of the paint. I wonder if it would have a similar look. Wonderful work! Thank you so much for sharing your process!
I love this!! & I think they look like little barnacles, which I think was totally fitting. I think if I ever did this on my own I would get some glow-in-the-dark paint to add a little bit more glow-in-the-dark effect to the rest of the tentacles, but that's just a preference / opinion
This is SO kewl! I definitely wouldve painted the other "holes" red and left the tentacles with none, but beautiful work! I LOVE the color shift paints! I hace seen them in person before, but havent used them yet. So I can imagine how gorgeous this is in person. Those paints are like magic!

Elianna says the monster cover is so cool. And she loves the glowing eye!!!
That color shifting paint is AWESOME!!!
I love the glow in the dark eye with that blowing paint effect. And the red color shift definitely didn’t ruin it!
The 'pimple' things look like barnacles to me which really adds to the whole aquatic alien thing. Love it!
I LOVE this book cover. A cat eye in red with green tentacles would look cool too.

I think it looks really cool. Also I like the eye's pupil the way it is.

Tentacles are so satisfying to make! I make A LOT of creatures with tails, glad to know I'm not alone with this infatuation.

To allow the paint to stick better use liquid sculpey over the black clay and it will allow stuff to bond to it.

this is incredible!
Do you use regular acrylic paint and coat it with something to protect the finish, or do your paints already have water and rubbing durability?

Have you tried using a food vacuum sealer for creating even pressure to apply the sculpture to the book cover?
