This was the short my dad ALWAYS talks about. It was introduced to Mexico in the mid 70’s and it was his first exposure to Disney. In our recent visit to Disneyland, we were in a shop in Frontierland and they played this video. He cried bc it took him back to his childhood. I’m so glad I found it on RUclips to play it for him
The range of emotions I feel watching this. Remembering my childhood. How cartoons like this would instill hope and creativity and dreams in young children. How a cartoon short like this could never be made today. My gosh. Didn’t think a 6 minute Disney short would make me cry tonight - but here I am. Wow.
I used to watch this repeatedly on my Disney sing along vhs when I was a toddler at my nan and grandads house in the 90s. I have just watched it for the first time since then and I was instantly transported back to my nan and grandads home where I felt the safest and most loved (and still do now) I am lucky enough to have been able to send them the video on WhatsApp they are in their 70s now and still give me the same love and comfort as they have done all my life. Watching this video took me back to when the world was “good” and when I was care free, I remembered every word and scene, it has made me very emotional but is very therapeutic and I feel so grateful I am still able to have the two people in my life who made me into the person I am today. Life really does move so fast. Memories and loved ones are the only true meaningful things in life ❤️ Thank you so much and lots of love to the person who uploaded this ❤
I had the sing along vhs too! My kid just asked me to sing her a song about a horse and this was the first I could think of. My siblings and I used to sing all these songs for my grandparents. My grandpa still talks about the Christmas sing along.
Watched this on the disney sing along VHS as a kid in the 90s. I always used to cry at the end for my mom to rewind it as it was the last one on the tape lol. The song randomly popped into my head today and seeing this again took my way back. Glad its up on youtube!

In 1973 when we lived in London and got our first second hand black and white TV my father hooked it up and one of the first images we saw on our Set was this cartoon and that song stuck in my mind, 57 years old now and just glad to hear it again, memories...
Reminds me of an old 'Heigh Ho! Sing Alongs' VHS tape I used to watch non-stop when I was a little kid in the late 90's. This one hit me the hardest.....memories. Nostalgia. Thank you.
Popped in my head at random and I had to look it up. Use to watch this as a kid and for some reason it was one of my favorite songs and cartoons from that time.
I use to watch this early in morning before school. I wish kids were still interested in this. Its a little history and some life lessons all in one. And i sing it to stay calm or fall asleep in my head to this day.

I’ve had this song stuck in my head on occasion since the early 90’s thanks to Disney Sing Along Songs. No one knows what I’m singing anymore, but I love it all the same!
when I was about 4 years old, I saw this on TV the first time, loved it instantly. Luckily my parents recorded if for me on VHS, since then I watched it god knows how many times. I am so happy to find it again on RUclips, only now I just realize how much it influenced me as it showed me what a good art should look like. Inspired by the early great cartoon like this, many years later now I become an animator hope to create something like this for our next generation . And still amazingly, every time I watch it again, I learn something new!
The first time I saw this one from a VHS recorded by my parents.(The same as other Disney cartoons, Doraemon, Tom and Jerry) I watched this short movie again and again until I finished my primary school, though I couldn't understand the lyrics, at all. Several years ago I remembered this one and googled it with key word 'cowboy Disney cartoon'. At that time I heard the song again, I even couldn't hold back my tears...By the way, an animator...so coool. Do u come from China, too?
I am actually 20, but it let me remembers when i was child. Disney was such a important part in my life... Sadly to see the disney production nowdays...
Sometimes I still sing this songs in my head, but since I was very young, I never got the chance to see it again. There isn't words to describe all the memories and felings that this little movie can bring back to my heart. Thank You very much for updating this.
I haven't seen this in probably 15 years! I use to watch this at my Grandparents' house back in the early 2010s when I was around 5. Now 19, and feels nostalgic to watch again. It's a lot shorter than I remembered though. I guess when you're young everything goes by so slowly, but this felt so quick watching it now. Still a really great cartoon and brought back a good memory.
It's really nice to see the full cartoon for once. I never honestly knew there was a full cartoon short, just a song that I heard from a Disney sing along tape back in the late 80s
Me too! I even had a feeling the very first time when I saw from Disney's Sing Along Heigh Ho that there appeared to be a huge chunk missing that we didn't see during the stint...and there was. I never have seen the cartoon in it's entirety. The song is definitely a head-sticker too! Thanks for posting this! xx
Omg I saw this in 87. My grandma played this for me. I can't believe I founs this. Thank you so much. I'm in tears of joy right now. Really thank you a bunch
I remember the song on vhs when I was a little kid. Me and my sis loved the song . I think my dad saw this short when he was a kid. My uncle probably saw this as well 68 years ago
It's been almost 40 years since I saw this last! It played a lot on the Disney Channel in the 80s, which is how I first saw it, and I hadn't seen it since the 80s!

This song brings tears to my eyes for some reason! It's funny. It's not really a sad song...the melody just takes me by the heart, I guess. This song has been with me since I was very, very little. When I was eight, I used to hum it when I got scared. x3

I’m sure there’s an official name; but back in the 50’s as this song was from a Disney Cartoon in 1955/56, it wasn’t “choir” per se, you see, the old vintage vocal music for jingles and vintage songs such are called “quartets.” Or Quartet Music. While originally Acappella, in the early and mid 20’s and 30’s Record companies , along with “in house music studios” and American culture they combined it with Big Band and Orchestra. Which Lead to that 40’s and 50’s feel we love. I’d call this Orchestral Quartet music. Think Andrews Sisters, InkSpots, or any other music group that utilizes harmony and slow music pace. Er, tempo. Also remember, the 50’s were the golden age of America, a lot was very gimmicky back then so you’re also hearing blues, Old Country music style, some light stoicism in the music, very comforting. The 50’s was a comforting time.
I remember watching this on my potable DVD player in the car all the time when I was a child. I was on a DVD with a bunch of different Disney shorts.
