I do use the synthetic oils, namely Amsoil. It's just been my preference. Mobile 1 was behind for sometime but they are meeting the head of the pack with formulations. Filters... I use the Amsoil Ea0 filters, they are not inexpensive I know but they are better then the 4 dollar deal... I do allot of miles in my car in the field service industry, I have to pay attention to working with better fluids and filters. Personally I have had a better experience with Amsoil but my first cars ran with Mobil 1 starting with a 1980 Cutlass. In all though, Ford makes a better engine.... :) Good job with all the pointers... Right on the mark... Nice car!
Amsoil makes good stuff and if I had a job that caused me to put a lot of miles on a newer vehicle I'd probably use synthetic too. At the moment I have 3 vehicles and only put on about 10k a year between the three of them, so oxidation/pH is a larger issue than viscosity consistency. Thanks for the comment!
I have a tapping type sound that comes from engine even if I get to light and stop it keeps doing it but when I take off it stops for a bit and comes back . Is that the lifters ? What can I do to fix that .
Question . I heard suppose to use synthetic , semi synthetic or full synthetic. . What do you think ? Also a hint ir help you can dtill botyom of oil filter for less mess
hi can i clean transmission filter with petrol except change with new one ? my car s run is 120000 kilometres and can i change new engine oil with mobile 1 10/40 or LUKYMOL 10/40 wich one is the best?
I just bought a 03 cadillac seville runs smooth shifts smooth. then I just did a oil change, with 5w30 full synthetic with the cheap supplied filter and it's making ticking noises now. any help would be appreciated.
I was trying to change the oil on a 2002, but couldn't get the bolt off of the oil pan. I was using a 14 mm head on a socket wrench and it was just a little too loose. 13 wouldn't fit all the way on. Nothing would work. Suggestions?
There is no reason to to pre-fill filters, and companies such as Cat have TSBs specifically stating to NOT do so on their equipment. No oil change shop including the dealers will do this, nor will the manufacturer recommend it.
***** There is a great reason to do it: it's called good engineering practice. The factors involved in the CAT TSB are unrelated to anything encountered by the average guy/gal changing his/her own oil. And shops and dealers don't do it because it's takes more time, not because it's not a good practice.
pwschuh From an engineering perspective there is absolutely no reason at all to pre-fill the filter. The oil film is fully present for hydrodynamic lubrication during the first few seconds in the short period of an oil change even without oil pressure. During cold weather this happens during every startup (after a full drain down and no hydrodynamic oil film) so it cannot be meaningfully damaging even in the worst case scenario. It's a feel good thing that allows another entry point for contaminants which is why it is not recommended. But if you're careful to keep everything clean it doesn't hurt anything either. I do agree about the CAT TSB. It's for practical concerns - way too easy to get dirt/grit in the filter with the extra handling necessary to pre-fill. Better to just take it out of the box clean and put it on rather than risk getting gravel or something in it during the extra handling steps.
***** The worry about "another point for contaminants" makes no sense, if you think about it. How is there any more danger of contaminants from pouring a pint of fresh oil in to the end of a filter than there is from pouring 7.5 quarts of that same oil from that same source into the top of the engine and letting it run through the engine on its way to the pan? The other benefit of pre-filling the filter is it slightly lessens the filter medium stress by having the filter medium shock-loaded by pressurized oil when dry. It's pretty well documented that most of the wear on an engine occurs during start-up. That wear occurs in the presence of the oil film you mention. The less time it spends with only that film, the better. That's why on engines that I care about, I not only pre-fill the filter, I use either an electric pre-luber or an air unit (like the Accusump). BTW, I'm doing my first oil change on a Northstar this weekend. Actually, my teenage daughter is doing it and I am supervising. I'll make sure she properly pre-fills the filter :)

I love Cadillac and this one works awesome, I literally have this car, he took good care of it. Great and helpful video thank you!
He's not joking, he has this vehicle now! Hope you get many more miles out of it.
great video! I feel like im ready to do my first oil change on my 02 Seville !
Nice and simple. Thank you for that
Very helpful and simply instructed
Great video. Thanks

Synthetic if most of your trips are short, semi if they're longer. Full syn might not be worth it.

try heavier weight oil. my understanding is 5w30 is for operations in cold climates.

15mm
Let someone else do it who knows what they are doing
@@jdawg55598 Did that make you feel superior, jerk?
If it’s stripped use vice grip wrenches/ locking pliers and replace bolt 👍
I'm running 5w30 regular oil in mine. Manual didn't say synthetic so no reason imo.
When you have a vertical mount oil filter like that there really is no excuse for not filling the filter full of new oil before you mount it.
