I'm back from a trip where I used this backpack as my day bag, and it was glorious. I have the copper color, and it hides stains and scraps better than my Chalk Lite Sling. Point for the Copper. I packed it flat in the bottom of my main suitcase and used it as my day bag to explore the city. I could fit a ton of things in it: a light rain jacket, my mother's poncho, a water bottle, a soda bottle, an apple, documents, my camera! So spacious. Yes, most things fall to the bottom, but the internal pockets seemed to work for me quite well to keep my smaller items organized. I was undecided between this and a sling for this particular trip, and I'm glad I opted for the backpack because the extra room was so handy. Still, the bag remained light and comfy while carrying along all day long

I literally just bought this bag yesterday. I’ve got the sling and love it, so I’m hoping the backpack does the job for me. I’m planning on trying it with an internal laptop sleeve for protection. Thanks for the review!
Nice review. No external water bottle holder is a dealbreaker - c'mon Bellroy! Cold water bottles are often sweating and I don't want that humidity inside. Or I use it for a semi-damp or not completely fresh umbrella, which I also don't want stinking up the bag. An external bottle holder lets things get bone dry, like a balcony for your bag. The bulky rounded shape of a bottle is also usually better not pressing into my back or fighting for internal room.
I just ordered this for a plane trip. Im not taking a tablet or laptop and this is one of the few smaller backpacks out there without a bulky padded sleeve. I have some other bellroy items; sling, cooler tote, and market tote. Good products!
Thank you Aaron, I bought the black one just now! I will challenge it and use it as a 3 days 2 nights short trip 'luggage'. I am pretty minimal and don't carry much stuff. And I will bring my Bellroy lite sling mini as my daily travel companion!!!
I have the Lite Sling in this same chalk color way and I really love it, it's become my most used sling and that's a lot to say for someone who has ___(guess number)___ slings. I might get this because I'm a geek and my OCD takes over and when I use my DSPTCH bag I bring a DSPTCH sling, when it's a Trakke bag, it's a Trakke sling and so on, lmao, I know someone might relate so yeah... I don't have a Bellroy backpack so this might be the one. I always like the option of the sternum strap so that's a great bonus and I'm getting used to inside water bottle pockets since I'm not always stopping and reaching for my water unless I'm sitting and not moving that much. I don't like swinging backpacks that much, if I need that mobility i just bring a bigger sling. Anyway, always loving your reviews and even if this is the only Bellroy Lite Daypack review I'll ever need to watch, I'll probably watch a ton more because you know... Bag geek haha, but yours are my favorites, gotta stay loyal to the gang lmao. Peace, man.
I love Bellroy and have a couple of their slings, and have been tempted to get this pack. While I wouldn’t use this as a hiking daypack, it would be a great option for a packable travel daypack to use when exploring cities. For me a hiking daypack needs an easily-accessible external water bottle pocket or a true hydration sleeve with port.
Great review. This is exactly the kinda review I am looking when checking out a bag 👍🏻 Frankly. I never found external water bottle holder work well. I have had a handful of backpacks with external pouches, and those pouches just wear out pretty quickly. I am not even a hiker. Just a regular Joe uses bags for work and weekend
Mine, has the strap, when I'm walking with my laptop, my cintiq, cables, water, mouse charger, having the weight distributed on to my chest, relieves the pain in my back and shoulders
@@Nomads.Nation it's been around awhile and more on the durable side but still super light. Issue is they don't have strap keepers, so I had to attach my own rubber bands to double up
Just looking at this, is sorta reminds me of the Away F.A.R. 26L backpack. I picked one up on sale to give to my dad, and when I got it I was surprised at the low weight, it felt almost too light. That one seems to have more structure and padding though (its not as floppy) and turned out pretty tough and water resistant. The zippers are really big and zip lightly, almost too light lol. Its more travel than outdoors oriented though.
I feel like this would be a good backpack for a theme park like Disneyland/World. Toss your water bottle, tech kit, some snacks, and a light jacket in there in case there’s some rain/chilly weather. Plus there’s more than enough room for whatever souvenirs you pick up.
Word! I used it on my last trip to Mickey Mouse Land and it served me more than well. It was chilly so it held a thick fleece, water bottle, snacks, camera, and of course those souvenirs needed to be stored somewhere
It is a $100 belroy. That's nice. Feels like a bag I'd get my kid for school. That pouch looks good for notebooks or whatever. Also, digging the rust color. Also a kid probably wouldnt mind the shoulders as much. I dont know, I just got that vibe the whole time.
I have the lite sling in chalk and while it’s great and I have not found anything I like more, people should know it is not machine washable and i have tried hand washing it but after a year of use it is pretty dingy, so as sleek as that color looks if I had to do it over I probably would have picked one of the darker colors. I’ve had my eye on this backpack for awhile so glad to see your review, I’ve held off because it was hard to see how nice the straps are from their photos.
Thanks for sharing! And great points on the color choices and how your sling has gotten dingy over the years. Dark colors are always better for these reasons (unfortunately)
I also have the Lite Sling in the Chalk colorway and it’s GORGEOUS. I’ve had that thing for a week and as lovely as it looks, I’ve already has to wash it acouple of times 😂 I can’t imagine how it will look in a year if a keep doing so. Maybe someday I’ll come to terms with it eventually looking a little dingy.
I have this bag. I personally don’t really like it. It’s really lightweight and easily packable as stated. But its really floppy unless it’s about 50% filled out. The biggest issue I have are the straps. I took it hiking in Japan and the straps would not keep sliding past my shoulders and eventually off to my arms. The sternum strap does help a bit but only to keep them falling off to my arms.
striding backpack straps are an interesting problem bc they affect certain body types. Agreed on the floppiness, but then again, that's the point of the bag
This is very similar to the 2023 Arcteryx Konseal 15 backpack, I like the interior organization of the bellroy better but the material and construction of the arcteryx bag more.
I am not sure if it’s my problem of what that my shoulder feel painful even I carry only 1 kg stuff in my bellboy daily backpack. I have already adjusted it to the correct posture
Hi Aaron. would you choose this or the able carry daybreaker 2 as second pack to put in luggage. this one is 350gr and the AC is 713 in X-PAC. is the difference in quality worth the extra weight?
