When I first listened to folklore I didn't like it too (though liking a song on 1st listen is rare to me). Folklore is an album that grows on you with each listen. And I too kinda believe it's written for her fans because you cannot understand the depth of the lyrics until you know things about her. She has a thing for Easter eggs. But in this album the lyrics is the Easter egg. It's like peeling an onion. And after knowing these theories surrounding the album I just wonder how she did it. Hats off. And if I try to explain further this will be a long ass comment. So try listening to the album again sometime. Maybe it will grow on you.
Have to agree with this. I can like a song first listen, but usually I only appreciate it if it's decent. It usually takes a few listens before I love a song. It grows on you over time.
agree. im a big swiftie but when i first listened to folklore i got bored lol but when i tried to listen to it again seriously this time, i fell in love. then u know there were songs that i didnt like at first but then became my current favorite now. like mirrorball when i first listened to it weirded me out lol but now that i learned the theories and the lyrics damn it’s actually the best
@@racheluy9064 LoL. Actually epiphany lulled me to sleep 😂 I still don't like that song. But after evermore released all I'm listening to is evermore. I love it more than folklore. Frankly it deserved more. Though folklore got me through some real shit. I'll be forever grateful.
Watched the whole video and I appreciate that even if you do hate or indifferent to Taylor. you were at least respectful and not hating on her or the music. it's so common to see people who react to Taylor who just shit on her because they hate her no matter what. so thank you for being respectful :) of course you don't have to like everything or even anything she does, but you weren't hateful so again thank you. it's interesting that you like Lover better because a lot of swifties love folklore (like you said) and Lover is their least favorite album by hers amongst the swifties. mainly because of the over the top bubble gum pop there is on that album. though there are some gems there like Soon You'll Get Better, Death By A Thousand Cuts, Afterglow and Cornelia Street. Just to give a bit of info about the album here's some: The Last Great American Dynasty is about the former home owners of Taylor's Rhode Island house. socialite Rebekah Harkness. Rebekah married Bill, a rich man who owned the 'Standard Oil Company. Bill died of a heart attack and the neighbors blamed Rebekah. the town never liked her anyway cause she was a "middle class divorceé". after the incident she never went to Rhode Island house again. she started to travel with some "friends" living a lush life, she was friends with Salvador Dalí. the holiday house was 50 years empty until Taylor bought. Cardigan, August and Betty are the 3 songs that tell the story of a teenage love triangle of characters she made up. James, Betty and another girl. each song is told from the prospective of each character. Cardigan is from the prospective of Betty. August is from the prospective of the girl James cheated on Betty with and the song Betty is from James's prospective. and in those 3 songs there are parallels to each other in the lyrics and meaning. like in Cardigan Betty says that James is immature/insecure and in the song Betty James mentions it. or like in Cardigan she sings "Chase 2 girls, lose the one" which means to James playing around with Betty and the other girl. just a quick example. so Taylor made up all that and played around with these ideas. CARDIGAN- BETTY'S POV(just two girls lose the one ,it was just the thrill, I knew you'd come back to me, you're at my porch) August - The other girl prospective - (the girl with whom James cheated on betty) (it was just a summer love, I picked you up in the car, the whispers of are you sure, will you phone me again) Betty- James perspective(I'm back at your porch/it was just a summer thing, she said get in the car) We (the fans) think my tears ricochet is about how she feels with what happened with her former record label. where the head of her former label didn't allow her to sing live her old songs because she left the label to a new one and he and Taylor had a public dispute last year over her masters, where they didn't let Taylor the opportunity to bid on her music in order to buy her masters so she can own them. instead he sold the label to one of Taylor's least favorite person Scooter Braun. and since then Taylor has been VERY VOCAL about how she feels about it. She wrote this song about everything that happened between her and Scott Borchetta (the owner of her previous label, Big Machine Records). While every lyrics relates back to a feeling or moment between them, I'm just gonna pull a few and give you guys some insight :) Hope it helps! "I didn't have it in myself to go with grace" is in regards to all the public blow ups they've since had once she found out Scott sold her masters to Scooter Braun. She wasn't prepared to take it silently and went for the kill in the media. "Cause when I'd fight, you used to tell me I was brave." Scott was Taylor's biggest cheerleader, having signed her when she was 14 and being one of the first people on his new label. He watched her grow up. He was like family to her. "Cursing my name, wishing I'd stayed." The contradiction of her knowing that he is publicly throwing punches her way, but deep down he always wanted her to stay with the label but was pissed off when she decided to move so that she could own the masters to her future work (something that he wasn't willing to offer her if she stayed with Big Machine). "And I still talk to you, when I'm screaming at the sky." A vulnerable lyric, IMO, and I think it shows that while Taylor wishes she could just hate Scott and move on, a part of her was just deeply hurt by the betrayal she felt when he sold her music to her worst enemy. "You wear the same jewels that I gave you , as you bury me" - meaning he's proudly have her old music (masters) that she created while he talked down about her in the media during their dispute. ""And I can go anywhere I want , anywhere I want, just not home" to refer to the time where she looked for new labels to sign to because her old label wouldn't let her buy her music, so it means to say she can go to any label she wants but not home i.e. her old label is the place where she called home and now it's the only place she can't go. "And when you can't sleep at night, you hear my stolen lullabies." This lyric cemented the idea of it being about Scott, because she feels like he never gave her a real chance to own her music and thus, stole them from her and he should feel guilty about that/it should keep him up at night. I remember in an interview she said that she had many conversations with Scott over the years (sometimes in tears) about her problems with Scooter, but Scott had 330 reasons to forget those problems. (referencing the $330m sale Scott got for selling off his label, 80% of revenue that Taylor accounted for BTW
Thank you for giving me a better understanding of some of the songs!! And thank you for understanding my pov! It's so strange, my opinions are usually the opposite of what swifties tend to think. Like, my favorite song of Lover is "False God." I feel like swifties don't like that song too much hahaha I think "Cruel Summer" is very good as well
This album is more lyrical than production I think that's why people can't appreciate this album like us fans because we love taylor because of her lyrics
We ARE really Swiftys, but hardly anything makes us happier than another person realizing that Taylor Swift is a true poet, an amazing songwriter. Who else has traversed so many genres? I know you said you don't like "Taylor Swift" songs, and I get that. Genre preference. But genre span? Am I right? It hits country fans. It hits pop fans. It hits "dark music" fans. And finally, it even hits you. Lover is a favorite if mine, too, because I can't help singing along with most of the songs. It's great for a road trip. I wonder, with that last song, if she's ready to move on to real life, starting a family, with the man she loves - real life.
Mirrorball is about how she wanted to please everyone and mostly her fans, the end is near meaning in bad situations, in the middle of quarantine, she's still on that tightrope trying to entertain people and make interesting music. Hence the I'll show you every version of yourself tonight: she'll write songs that we'll relate to and see our emotions reflected like a piece of mirror
to be honest i feel like lover was more directed towards the public than folklore. on lover there are songs that are very obviously created for the purpose of gaining radio time - not that there’s any problem w that. but folklore was just written because of quarantine because taylor didn’t have anything else to do. she’s expressed that a bunch of songs are not based on her experience and instead are characters and stories that she has created. i think because folklore was created without the explicit purpose of gaining radio time it feels really genuine.
Actually Lover was about things she wasn't able to talk about before in the past and about different kinds of love, that's why it was called Lover She talked about mother love = soon you'll get better country love = miss americana and the heartbreak prince friends love = it's nice to have a friend self love = me partner love = lover, afterglow ... etc lgbtq community love = you need to calm down She said it was special for her
RA NA i agree w u, i’m not trying to say that the songs are any less meaningful than the ones on folklore, but most of those songs are pop songs formulated for the radio. nothing wrong with that, i love pop songs but they are very obviously written (musically) and produced with radio play in mind. the singles especially.
First of all, I think it's great that you heard all the songs, including the lakes, and secondly that you watched the lyric videos. Thanks for this reaction!
This is her most complicated album, and people that aren’t familiar w her lyrics/style will find it harder to understand. Need multiple listens to pickup storylines. Love the love triangle “cardigan” “ August”. “ Betty”
folklore is stories passed on, and her lyrical content of story writing on this album is superb.. I’ve wanted an album like this for so long where her vocals are up front surrounded with beautiful instruments.. On first listen this album blew me away from the 1 to hoax it is a masterpiece.
I liked your video. You're not a hater, just have a different taste. A lot of men can be sexist when talking about her music (call it girly, that it's only for teenage girls and about her bfs like that's a bad thing), so I get where the comments are coming from, but I don't see that in you.
I love the fact that you are not a hater and not even a fan but you totally respect her masterpieces. I almost not watch your first vid because of the caption “hate” but I still gave it a try because i want to dissect the very reasons why some people really hate her works. But when I go through your vid, I appreciate the honesty of yours. And here I am watching your second vid and finished it.
I think the space and extended instrumentation at the end of each song is meant for the listener to stop and think about the story she told. She described the album as a collection of stories, and yeah for her fans they'll see where she was writing about herself, or where she was alluding to someone else's story. For me, it's always so interesting to see how she frames each song's story. The Last Great American Dynasty is her telling Rebekah's story, comparing herself to this bad girl in Rhode Island, and how it fell to her to share. Which is a mostly true story about a real person we probably never would've heard about if it weren't for Taylor Swift.
I watched the whole thing and appreciate your opinions, and love how you respect her so much as a songwriter. I know you didn’t care for Betty that much, but here’s a fun fact... it’s actually part of a love triangle on the album, Cardigan (Betty’s perspective), August (side chick’s perspective), and Betty (James’s perspective). Once you make that connection and re-listen with that in mind, it hits different. You can hear the little Easter eggs tying all 3 together.
This is my favourite album of hers, I really enjoyed it from the start but the more I listened the more I fell in love, a lot of songs had to grow on me because I just didn't care for them at first but it's good when you re-listen, anyway I really appreciate honest reactions so I loved yours! Thank you for not being a straight up hater, some people don't even give her the benefit of the doubt.. not even a chance ❤️
I'm a HIUGE fan of Taylor and I really liked watching this reaction from your prospective. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Thanks for taking the time to review it
You keep saying it’s so long! But the album is incredible - I’ve listened to it nonstop for the last 5-6 weeks and watching reaction videos like your only heightens my enjoyment! 😊
Aaron Dessner is from The National. You know this album is great. Must be because right now it has tied Whitney Houston at 6 weeks at number 1 right now. Taylor is known for great bridges too.
I love that you totally own the clickbait thing hahaha... i almost didn't watch your first one though! Glad I did. Even though its not really your jam overall, I appreciated your commentary. Mirrorball makes me sad, it sounds like its about a relationship but I think its more to the fans... she's still here and still working her ass off (never been a natural, all I do is try try try) to keep us entertained. I really love this album, but it's very much a vibe.. taylor is so versatile, but i don't think we'd have ever gotten this album without quarantine. You mentioned that it doesnt go where you expect it to,, i think thats part of this folk sound shes specifically aiming for..it's a different kind of music.. the album is all about perspectives, chasing stray thoughts, and imagery. She just sat down and did whatever she wanted. Truly, poetry set to instruments, imo. I'm glad you were respectful, regardless of the replay value for you! Eta: hoax was the original last track. The Lakes is a bonus track that released later! :)
I understand where you're coming from with a first listen through. The first time I listen to almost any album I'm basically feeling it out, because there's a lot to pay attention or catch. My initial listen through August was my "Oh! That's my favorite!" And I do still love it. By the next few time even the songs I was unsure about I grew to really love and appreciate. The same thing happened for me when she initially went more pop. I think because of not being use to hearing her in that way, I was skeptical at first. But I'm also a person I take it all in and give it time to see how I feel about stuff. But I get it, and it's ok to not Love everything.
A 1 hour 20 minutes video. Hell yeah I'm gonna watch it full 😊. Im here for that Taylor content. I'm Swiftie and honestly my first listening to the album, I'm not enjoying it much as it sound very different and very dreamy, not one single track is an upbeat track. But as I read some tweet about folklore, it been enlightened to me that this is alternative folk album hence that's why it sound very dreamy and the main attraction of the album is her songwriting. Then I give it a couple of listen again and YES this is her masterpiece album in term of songwriting. I always thought Speak Now album is her best lyricism album but folklore has surpress that. It's very unexpected to get an alternative album from Taylor but I really enjoyed this album after listening to it a few times. This is a grow album, we got to listen to it a couple of time for it to resonance with us. Nevertheless I really enjoyed your honest reaction. 🤩🤩🤩
Sometimes I feel like when people call us #Swifties it cheapens the dynamic of our relationship. Yes she has been through a lot of pain and we we are here for the ride. Thank you T he was def right on one point, you wrote an album for us and you are appreciated. So excited to see how you do the rerecordings. And yes I watched the whole video and thank you for making it through the whole album. There is so so much back story that would blow you mind, but Taylor and Joe are happy and now we can rest easy❤ i liked and subscribed lol
I can’t believe I just watched this whole thing from beginning to end, but here we are. This is one of my favourite albums and this kind of felt like getting to listen to it for the first time again. All of the little things you picked up on or got excited about were the same things I did, and it was kind of exciting to anticipate how you’d react or what you’d think. This was surprisingly fun, and you ALMOST had me until you gave it a 5. Man...from your reactions I was expecting closer to a 7 at least.
I love how you are always surprised when she curses 😂. Loved the whole reaction Edit: even i am still not used to her cursing cuz she never does it in her older music and only did it once in rep and lover
Your interpretation of the album as a whole was beautiful. As much as she sings about different stories throughout that aren’t her own, the album as a whole does in fact tell a beautiful story of ups and downs in a person’s life until she finally finds peace.
Just finished your reaction and like I said I appreciate your honesty, loved the reaction! Have you ever listened to her album reputation? Since you said you liked Lover better I feel like if you haven't you might like that one and I'd love to see a reaction too.
One of the best reactions I've seen honestly! You really listened to the songs and paid attention to the lyrics and everything, trying to understand the meaning behind it and connect with it, for that reason I really didnt mind watching a video this long! Loved this, keep up the good work! 😄🙌🏻
Just a note: Taylor’s fifth tracks are usually the most personal on her albums, a pattern she noticed a while ago. Tracks like “All You Had To Do Was Stay,” “White Horse,” “Dear John,” “Delicate,” “The Archer,” “All Too Well,” and, of course, “my tears ricochet” are all examples of this. (Btw, I highly recommend listening to “All Too Well;” it’s a fan favorite for great reason). “my tears ricochet” is thought by the fandom to be about Scott Borchetta, owner of her former label. There’s some drama there, but to summarize, she took a risk by signing with him (he hadn’t even started his label yet) and the two became like family while she also became his biggest star (“you wear the same jewels/that I gave you/as you bury me). Then, when she told him about her urge to branch out and leave his label, he sold her masters without telling her to someone she had a very negative history with (she found out on social media when a fan told her about it). Just thought I should put it out there, since you probably don’t know the context behind some of her songs, given you’re not a Swiftie. Hope this helped, even if you didn’t ask for an explanation.
Watched the entire vid, we love the long videos cus we can’t get enough of TS lol This is me trying is my favorite too! It’s sooo good but I do actually love the whole album. I’m sure even though the first listen might not have been the best for you, you will still have it stuck in your head. I have listened on repeat since it came out.
I am excited to be a number one comment on anything. Not sure what that says about me though....😂😂😂😂 As a HUGE swifty fan who LOVES this album of her's (my favorite) I completely get your opinion and thoughts on it and appreciate them. Not everyone has to be a taylor fan cause I mean that would be a bit odd. You are spot on when you say she wrote this specifically for us swifties so i do not get offended by non swifties for not being fully blown away by it. The Cardigan, Mirrorball, and This Is Me Trying are basically love letters to us fans. Like we love her, she loves us, but I mean we cause her grief too... just part of the fan/artist relationship she is sharing about her point of view. Also this is super different for her as she has a three way song storyline with cardigan, August, and Betty. a lot of this album also deals with her break up relationship with big machine records and the fact that scooter Braun now owns her masters... the one, exile, my tears ricochet, mad woman, hoax... I think we might not have gotten this kind of record from her had it not been for covid... she even references covid in the son epiphany... just a beautiful work of art for the swifty fandom. Quarantine also gives me time at home to do stuff and listen to reaction videos in general more than ever before. This one I appreciated so thanks! You rock considering you are not a swifty for doing this video.
Because Taylor is an original singer. She doesn't follow the normal way of singing especially on this album. This album is a masterpiece and no one can tell me different either.
What I like best about your video? I’ve been attempting to write songs for a year now and while I like my lyrics, I can’t get the different sections of the song to take on their own life. It all songs like one long chorus. What was super helpful is that you comment on how the song builds up, the different instruments used and at what times they are effective. You talk about the bridges and so much more. Im sure your videos will be helpful when I revisit my lyrics and finding the missing elements. Thanks for taking so much time to make this video. 🦋💜🦋
Watched it all and really enjoyed it! Hoax has you stumped like a lot of us too lol. I think she sounds so, so sad, but there is still something hopeful? I think you should give reputation a listen, would love to see it!
“Pretty to think so” is something that Earnest Hemingway (a man) wrote in ‘The Sun Also Rises’ and Taylor references him and many others in her songs. She likes putting different pieces of culture in her lyrics. Nice reaction, especially for a self-proclaimed hater.
Love your reaction! If it is not asking too much it would be amazing if you react some reputation music (i did something bad; dont blame me; getway car) ❤ Ps: taylor songs are amazing but all of them have a lot of history behind and if you dont know it the journey of listen it will not be the same
I'm a filipino, english is just my 2nd language but I understand every lyrics on this album than him and I'm a fan of her anyway maybe that's why hahaha
Anyone can hate Taylor Swift's music. Ppl have different taste (no honey that person is tasteless) sorry for that but if someone hates Taylor as a person you're nothing but a sexist.
the moment you said taylor is with someone for a while now...you are a lowkey ts fan :D , my husband whose a metal fan never knew anything about ts even if keep talking about her lol
Seven- she wrote it for a childhood friend of hers who was abused by his or her dad, she is recounting that when they would play they would pretend to be pirates and escape from their life. I think lover is more for her fans while folklore and evermore are more for her. She rerecorded love story and could fit in with either of these 2 albums
Love your reactions maybe you didn't like as much as I like but you at least enjoy it BTW the love triangle songs are cardigan from Betty's po August from the side chicks po and Betty is from James po who cheated on Betty with the girl from August As much as I know epiphany is kind of about his grand father who's a field medic peace and invisible string sounds like about her current bf And I think my tear ricochet, hoax and mad women is about her former record label 🙃
this album has so much story telling you really have to listen to the lyrics and imagine yourself in the story, personally folklore and her new album evermore are my favorite because of the story telling. her lyrics are incredible and i just love it so much.
Invisible String does not fade out. AHH! You stopped it 3 notes short of the ending. She has created a different sound scape with every single album she's done and we've all gone along for the ride because regardless of the style of music is all great and her lyrics are amazing. That's what makes her Artist of the Decade. Folklore and Evermore were created with Aaron Dessner of the band The National who've been around for over a decade. Have you ever heard of them? Nope? Me neither but, they are an indie band that she loved so she decided to work with them to create her own indie album. Yet another genre of music for her.
Nice. I watched to the end. You've got to give each song more than one listen. At least two because they really grow on you. The second listen will be different. This album is a masterpiece. I know the history behind these songs and I think you intuited her feelings well.
If you don't like Taylor. But she must be doing something right she has been killing it for a very long time. Since 2006. I have been loving her genius songwriting and storytelling. You must not like that then.
yeah i agree with the whole album is for here fans the swifties if you here fan you would know every meaning behind every song byw i love ur reaction video ... keep it up u respected unlike the others .. urghh nevermind ..
we just love taylor swift this much lol your cool too! Also, you use the word "pretty" atleast twice but then say only girls would use it to describe something? lol
I actually watched the whole thing. My faves are betty august and cardigan and ironically those 3 are the love triangle songs. If u listen to them in order it’s actually very emotional. Anyways drop the reputation album reaction
I watched the whole thing and love your thoughts on the songs. These are some of the things that others have mentioned on the songs cardigan: is betty's POV of how james cheated on her with the "other girl" --- high school kids my tears ricochet: is about Scott Borchetta (her previous label) and how he sold her catalogue/albums to Scooter Braun, without telling her and without letting her buy her music back. Basically it's about how she can "go anywhere, just not home" so her previous album like Big Machine and they will still "miss me in your bones" because she's the one that brought that label up from her fame "stolen lullabies" her albums they stole from her. mirrorball: Taylor is now 30 and as women age they have to reinvent themselves otherwise people/fans lose interest. I think Taylor is the first person to learn that she may never lose her fans interest. I mean look at how much recognition folklore got. seven: about her childhood and a friend who had an abusive father "pack your dolls and sweaters, we'll go to India forever" august: the other girl -- high school kids "you were never mine" invisible string: about her and joe alwyn her bf of almost 4 years now -- by far the longest relationship Taylor's ever had mad woman: about media, scott and scooter -- he has a photo on a yacht - she mentions trying to drill holes in his yacht. Men always undermining women's anger and saying they are "mad" aka crazy how everyone paints Taylor as crazy (ie blank space) betty: james's POV -- high school kids - and how he cheated on Betty with august and still didn't care about how much it must've hurt august ... seriously what a shitty dude peace: how drama basically follows Taylor everywhere she goes, and it never really leaves her but she doesn't care for Joe she will "give her life up in secret" and she's asking will you still be here for me because drama is a part of my life. and she's willing to create a family with him. hoax: this is a lil difficult but it's about Scott and how he betrayed her essentially, she thought he'd be faithful and he basically sold her albums to the one person she told him NOT to sell her work to and his love was a hoax the lakes: there is an actual place in England where Taylor and Joe went for their 3rd year anniversary ... I'm not entirely sure but so people have speculated. Basically, she credits other poets like Wordsworth who also wrote a poem on the lakes -- she uses that/his name as a play on words too "how much are my words worth" the frozen ground where the rose grew is kind of a callback to hoax and how the ground was frozen. her muse has been Joe since her Reputation album, she only ever talks about Joe even in this album. Also, a muse is a man's thing, poet's always had a muse, just like artists and a muse was usually a women, so I like that Taylor uses that.
Like your reactions! This album not only is a different genre of music for Taylor, but most of the songs are not from her own experiences (which is usually the case). There is a love trilogy, yes, gold from each of their perspectives. A few are personal, but mostly are fictional. Last Great American Dynasty is a true story. As for predicting her notes, not that she is usually predictable, but I think this album she was purposefully stepping out of the box and writing songs very very different from her previous albums. I disagree about writing songs for her fans, these songs are just very different and NOT geared toward her fans. Most fans love Reputation over Lover. But everyone has their own preference. This album I think was just for her to try something new.
I did watched your video till end and honestly I love both, you and taylor❤️
Taylor: literally tells us a whole story in "the last great american dynasty"
Him: there's not much to it
🤣🤣🤣
There wasn’t much to American Dynasty?! She was telling the real story of how she bought the house of Rebekah Harkness and William Hale. 😭
I wasn't talking about the lyrics!! I didn't really do a good job explaining myself 😬
Micah Motley that was my favorite On the album
life's too short to pretend you hate taylor swift
LMAOO
No lies detected
i mean.. hello?
true.
@@MicahMotley just be honest, folklore is too good to hate!!
Yes listen again! And again and again - it gets better and better
Have to agree with this. I can like a song first listen, but usually I only appreciate it if it's decent. It usually takes a few listens before I love a song. It grows on you over time.
When she first went on Tumblr before releasing #Folklore, she hinted to the fact that it was for us
agree. im a big swiftie but when i first listened to folklore i got bored lol but when i tried to listen to it again seriously this time, i fell in love. then u know there were songs that i didnt like at first but then became my current favorite now. like mirrorball when i first listened to it weirded me out lol but now that i learned the theories and the lyrics damn it’s actually the best
CARDIGAN- BETTY'S POV(just two girls lose the one ,it was just the thrill, I knew you'd come back to me, you're at my porch)
August - The other girl prospective - (the girl with whom James cheated on betty) (it was just a summer love, I picked you up in the car, the whispers of are you sure, will you phone me again)
Betty- James perspective(I'm back at your porch/it was just a summer thing, she said get in the car)
We (the fans) think my tears ricochet is about how she feels with what happened with her former record label. where the head of her former label didn't allow her to sing live her old songs because she left the label to a new one and he and Taylor had a public dispute last year over her masters, where they didn't let Taylor the opportunity to bid on her music in order to buy her masters so she can own them. instead he sold the label to one of Taylor's least favorite person Scooter Braun. and since then Taylor has been VERY VOCAL about how she feels about it.
"You wear the same jewels that I gave you
, as you bury me" - meaning he's proudly have her old music (masters) that she created while he talked down about her in the media during their dispute.
""And I can go anywhere I want
, anywhere I want, just not home" to refer to the time where she looked for new labels to sign to because her old label wouldn't let her buy her music, so it means to say she can go to any label she wants but not home i.e. her old label is the place where she called home and now it's the only place she can't go.
Well this is an incredibly well explained comment so thats great
Thank you for giving me a better understanding of some of the songs!! And thank you for understanding my pov! It's so strange, my opinions are usually the opposite of what swifties tend to think. Like, my favorite song of Lover is "False God." I feel like swifties don't like that song too much hahaha I think "Cruel Summer" is very good as well
Micah Motley Yeah I love “False God” too. Her performance from Saturday Night Live is so so so amazing.
Micah Motley False God and Cruel Summer are my favs from Lover too 🤗 also Cornelia Street
Micah Motley RIGHT FALSE GOD IS SUCH A GOOD ONE 😫
You should watch her documentary "Miss Americana" kn Netflix and react to it!
I love her documentary
to be honest i feel like lover was more directed towards the public than folklore. on lover there are songs that are very obviously created for the purpose of gaining radio time - not that there’s any problem w that. but folklore was just written because of quarantine because taylor didn’t have anything else to do. she’s expressed that a bunch of songs are not based on her experience and instead are characters and stories that she has created. i think because folklore was created without the explicit purpose of gaining radio time it feels really genuine.
Actually Lover was about things she wasn't able to talk about before in the past and about different kinds of love, that's why it was called Lover
She talked about
mother love = soon you'll get better
country love = miss americana and the heartbreak prince
friends love = it's nice to have a friend
self love = me
partner love = lover, afterglow ... etc
lgbtq community love = you need to calm down
She said it was special for her
RA NA i agree w u, i’m not trying to say that the songs are any less meaningful than the ones on folklore, but most of those songs are pop
songs formulated for the radio. nothing wrong with that, i love pop songs but they are very obviously written (musically) and produced with radio play in mind. the singles especially.
React to reputation by Taylor Swift. I think you’ll vibe more with that album
she'll be remembered in the history of music just like john, MJ, freddie did.
-rock, punk fans
Exile always strikes me as a sequel to "The Last Time"
I liked your video.
You can hear the little Easter eggs tying all 3 together.
after he reacted to "bitch pack" with shock
me: oh, you just wait, boi...
Love ur reaction and respect your opinions. She's been dating Joe Alwyn for almost 4 years the love songs on Reputation, Lover, Folklore are about him
This is my favourite album of hers, I really enjoyed it from the start but the more I listened the more I fell in love, a lot of songs had to grow on me because I just didn't care for them at first but it's good when you re-listen, anyway I really appreciate honest reactions so I loved yours!
Same 💕
Oh and any woman in their 20’s has cancelled their plans in case someone called.
I made it to the end because I love Taylor Swift. Yey! Been waiting for this for over a month.
Watched till the end! Loved it
I understand where you're coming from with a first listen through.
Remember, it’s his first listen
His rating may go up after few listens
I love how you are always surprised when she curses 😂. Loved the whole reaction
Edit: even i am still not used to her cursing cuz she never does it in her older music and only did it once in rep and lover
Your interpretation of the album as a whole was beautiful. As much as she sings about different stories throughout that aren’t her own, the album as a whole does in fact tell a beautiful story of ups and downs in a person’s life until she finally finds peace.
React to Taylor Swifts Reputation Album, I think you’ll like it more!!
Just finished your reaction and like I said I appreciate your honesty, loved the reaction! Have you ever listened to her album reputation? Since you said you liked Lover better I feel like if you haven't you might like that one and I'd love to see a reaction too.
Thank you!! No, I haven't listened to Reputation. Should I react to it?
@@MicahMotley yes yes yessss
@@MicahMotley YES!! PLEASE REACT TO IT! I feel like you'd enjoy it more like Lover!
Micah Motley REACT TO REPUTATION. and RED
@@MicahMotley you should definitely react to reputation. I can't wait for it. 😭
Finished the whole video love your honest reaction! 😫 Looking forward for more Taylor Swift reactions!
Watched the entire vid, we love the long videos cus we can’t get enough of TS lol
This is me trying is my favorite too! It’s sooo good but I do actually love the whole album. I’m sure even though the first listen might not have been the best for you, you will still have it stuck in your head. I have listened on repeat since it came out.
the love triangle:
cardigan: betty's perspective
august: third girl's perspective
betty: james's perspective
You're awesome! I'm so glad you understand and respect my opinion ☺️ thank you so much!
I watched your entire Vedic and I’m going to watch your evermore reaction next... can’t wait! 👌
I love this. Thank you. Dm me on Instagram and show me some of your work!!!
subscribed to this channel and expecting more taylor.
ephipany is a song writtern her for her Grandfater who is soldier
and the ‘beer’ virus, getting bad again
Watched it all and really enjoyed it! Hoax has you stumped like a lot of us too lol. I think she sounds so, so sad, but there is still something hopeful? I think you should give reputation a listen, would love to see it!
I just found out the meaning of the song, took a while but I think I got what she meant in Hoax
Quite sad actually
the 3 songs are cardigan (betty perspective) august (augustas perspective) and betty (james perspective)
Taylor Swift and NF are my two favorite artists.
“Pretty to think so” is something that Earnest Hemingway (a man) wrote in ‘The Sun Also Rises’ and Taylor references him and many others in her songs. She likes putting different pieces of culture in her lyrics. Nice reaction, especially for a self-proclaimed hater.
Folklore and Evermore are albums for people not to have so many years but have lived so much !!
I kinda in shock when you said Seven wasn't that good. Lol. Its outro was mind blowing, and dreamy vibes were filled in every lines.
Your favorite song August was basically song about James cheated on his gf. But this from side of view from the other girl
Love your reaction! If it is not asking too much it would be amazing if you react some reputation music (i did something bad; dont blame me; getway car) ❤
Ps: taylor songs are amazing but all of them have a lot of history behind and if you dont know it the journey of listen it will not be the same
I watched this till the end and as a swiftie I loved your reaction!
Lol I just have friend's who really like her
I'm hoping this will be a happy song..
Taylor: Take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die😬
Seven- she wrote it for a childhood friend of hers who was abused by his or her dad, she is recounting that when they would play they would pretend to be pirates and escape from their life.
I think lover is more for her fans while folklore and evermore are more for her. She rerecorded love story and could fit in with either of these 2 albums
I watched till the end, loved your reaction
listen and watch more about Queen Taylor!
Love your reactions maybe you didn't like as much as I like but you at least enjoy it
BTW the love triangle songs are cardigan from Betty's po August from the side chicks po and Betty is from James po who cheated on Betty with the girl from August
As much as I know epiphany is kind of about his grand father who's a field medic
peace and invisible string sounds like about her current bf
And I think my tear ricochet, hoax and mad women is about her former record label 🙃
Your reactions are great, respect how you appreciate her writing... keep it up ❤❤
I love when you sing along, your voice is beautiful 🤗✨
this album has so much story telling you really have to listen to the lyrics and imagine yourself in the story, personally folklore and her new album evermore are my favorite because of the story telling. her lyrics are incredible and i just love it so much.
Guys, if you think I'd leave my homework undone and watch his reaction for 1 hour and 24 minutes straight....then you're absolutely correct.
omg i love how he starts singing along. its so cute
The three songs are Cardigan (Betty's), August (the other girl), Betty (James)
Invisible String does not fade out. AHH! You stopped it 3 notes short of the ending. She has created a different sound scape with every single album she's done and we've all gone along for the ride because regardless of the style of music is all great and her lyrics are amazing. That's what makes her Artist of the Decade. Folklore and Evermore were created with Aaron Dessner of the band The National who've been around for over a decade. Have you ever heard of them? Nope? Me neither but, they are an indie band that she loved so she decided to work with them to create her own indie album. Yet another genre of music for her.
The power of Taylor Swift is her songwriting and her ability to tell stories in songs.
Made it to the end 😁
Really enjoyed your comments and harmonies
PS I think Hoax is about her former label
When you said that Betty is a swiftie song, I screamed because it's so true. 😆
Nice. I watched to the end. You've got to give each song more than one listen. At least two because they really grow on you. The second listen will be different. This album is a masterpiece. I know the history behind these songs and I think you intuited her feelings well.
this is me trying is my favourite too, so glad u like it
I made it to the lakes. Just can't get enough of this album. Another great album I like of her is Red.
If you don't like Taylor. But she must be doing something right she has been killing it for a very long time. Since 2006. I have been loving her genius songwriting and storytelling. You must not like that then.
Ummm hii
First of all I really like your personality and you seem like very genuine person
Second
You cute as hell
Lmaoo thank you
yeah i agree with the whole album is for here fans the swifties if you here fan you would know every meaning behind every song byw i love ur reaction video ... keep it up u respected unlike the others .. urghh nevermind ..
honestly, watching the video til the end was worth it hahaha
we just love taylor swift this much lol your cool too! Also, you use the word "pretty" atleast twice but then say only girls would use it to describe something? lol
I think lover is more likely for fans.A lots of fans worried if they would like folky indie Taylor.
the three songs for is from three diff. people cardigan its betty perspective and betty from james perspective and august the sidechick perspective.
you literally said 'ok youtube keep hitting me with the ads' and an ad came up for me lmao
I actually watched the whole thing.
My faves are betty august and cardigan and ironically those 3 are the love triangle songs. If u listen to them in order it’s actually very emotional. Anyways drop the reputation album reaction
nice and honest reaction😍
I also love that peace was recorded in one vocal take, insane.
I watched the whole thing and love your thoughts on the songs.
These are some of the things that others have mentioned on the songs
cardigan: is betty's POV of how james cheated on her with the "other girl" --- high school kids
my tears ricochet: is about Scott Borchetta (her previous label) and how he sold her catalogue/albums to Scooter Braun, without telling her and without letting her buy her music back.
I mean look at how much recognition folklore got.
seven: about her childhood and a friend who had an abusive father "pack your dolls and sweaters, we'll go to India forever"
august: the other girl -- high school kids "you were never mine"
invisible string: about her and joe alwyn her bf of almost 4 years now -- by far the longest relationship Taylor's ever had
mad woman: about media, scott and scooter -- he has a photo on a yacht - she mentions trying to drill holes in his yacht. Men always undermining women's anger and saying they are "mad" aka crazy how everyone paints Taylor as crazy (ie blank space)
betty: james's POV -- high school kids - and how he cheated on Betty with august and still didn't care about how much it must've hurt august ... seriously what a shitty dude
peace: how drama basically follows Taylor everywhere she goes, and it never really leaves her but she doesn't care for Joe she will "give her life up in secret" and she's asking will you still be here for me because drama is a part of my life. and she's willing to create a family with him.
hoax: this is a lil difficult but it's about Scott and how he betrayed her essentially, she thought he'd be faithful and he basically sold her albums to the one person she told him NOT to sell her work to and his love was a hoax
the lakes: there is an actual place in England where Taylor and Joe went for their 3rd year anniversary ...
Ok, so curiosity got the best of me as I wanted to see what a hater could find wrong with Taylor’s music. Nice find! 🦋💜🦋
Watching someone react to folklore might just be my excuse to listen folklore tbh
The music in The Lakes has a 20’s/30’s sound
Especially at the beginning
Not gonna lie, those clickbait titles got me.
And im glad im in time for the part 2
Loved your video man
Just for you to know: I WATCHED THE WHOLE VIDEO
I think these long fades are for youre mind to ponder the songs message more and give time to feel the emotion of each song.
You don't think it's a great? Haha. And she's breaking the record in selling her masterpiece bro. It is great. I mean the whole project...
