Thanks for this, man. Really appreciate that you're honest when you're not hearing any differences between some of the settings, especially with the BIG knob set at/near MIN. Great walk-through and testing. Ben
I have this unit and I've always been puzzled by the manual's explanation of the range knob. Thanks for breaking it down! FYI, it sounds fantastic on the mix bus for strings, too!
Hey mate, don't know if you figured it out already but "Stage" is like a Side leveler. How loud or quite you want the side information. Whiles the Range is your classic widener, opening the sides like a Waves S1 Imager would do. So it is affecting the level and the width Simultaneously. Mono information stays intact but you lose low end when sides drown the mid information so Bass is required and by the way it is a 'Smiley Curve" so it doesn't only affect bass. Hope this helps.
That review was great! I wanted that for my acoustic guitar, now I know, I'm not getting it. Do you keep that unit? What about the fusion, do you keep that and use the stereo imaging in that unit?
@@fadygergis Thanks for reply. I thought it might be one of those things, one processes as many mixes as possible with it, even going back and processing old mixes only later wishing they hadn't... Great channel and presentations BTW
Not yet. I wonder if the spl vitalizer 3 stereo image is more subtle. But for now i am using mid side process or the stereo image that some plug in alliance have, the module of stereo image in ozone 10
Maybe another video without leaving it all the way on ‘open’ for the acoustic, piano, and mix buss. I’m thinking that’s why it didn’t sound as good with those. It was on ‘open’ the whole time on everything except drums.
to not test the full mix with the knob dialled to 'front' is criminal imo. tbh I found your random knob-twiddling pretty irritating to watch through out this video. particularly at the start where you spend several minutes carefully testing the top two knobs without even having the 'Big' setting engaged at all..!

Thank you 🙏!!!
NICE!!! I'll have to circle back when I have my headphones. Thank you as always, Brother!
My pleasure

Thanks for the info.
Your camera has a very good auto focus! :) A tip - turn it off when you film hardware gear so it won't focus on your hand 👌
The focus hunting is becoming a youtube trope. LOL.
Thanks a lot! Good review... but, we are waiting for continuation. You promised to explore it in more detail and share your thoughts.🙂

Yeh makes sense.
It’s weird how they have it labeled and also their manual explains nothing lol

Yes the fusion is mine and I keep it.
This one I am not sure yet if I will keep it or not.
Good stuff
Great demo thank you. Did you keep it and still use it?
I use it in few things ( mostly individual instruments)
But I stopped using it on mix bus.

@@fadygergis so it just shapes the already existing stereo image correct? Like it’s not a stereo maker for a mono source?
Correct!
I have a couple Prometheus. Curious how you use it in MS mode and how it compares to the big overall (when using M/S)
It would be very hard to compare. As one is EQ and one is stereo imager. They do different things.
But I love my Prometheus. It’s a killer unit.
Made the drums sound more dimensional and not so flat to my ears.
After 1 1/2 year I sold it and very happy with that
Did you get a different unit for stereo imaging?

@atacamabeatsindierecording8406 I have been using the stereo imager part of my SSL fusion hardware unit and absolutely love it. It’s incredible.
@@atacamabeatsindierecording8406 ozone 10 imager is my go too as well
Without the BIG knob engaged, the top 2 will have no effect, I believe.

On the mix bus I ran it subtle and gentle down to only 1 and close to minimum. I tried it in all possible ways to give a general idea about the uni.
Yea it was a good video review. I want to start using this unit. I was trying to hear some more experimentation on the mix buss.
When you'll go to atmos, something let me say that you'll have another perception of what widening is 😅
Haha. Hopefully soon.
16:56 I disagree, It made the acoustic guitar sound better imo.

Watching you turn the knobs with the effect level set to 0 made me angry in a way I can't quite convey entirely.
You must have not watched the whole thing.
With big knob on 0, range and stage knobs do nothing.
