Odd Behavior of a Super-hydrophobic Razor Blade

  • A pipette "re-floats" a stainless steel razor blade. The blade has a hydrophobic coating. When the air momentarily pushes the water off the top of the blade, it rises mainly due to the hydrostatic pressure force on the lower surface. Surface tension plays a role too.
