At one time up until around 1993 on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad, the North Coast Daylight operated a passenger run from the eastern terminus of the California Western Railroad at Willits north to Eureka.

Train has run once a year since 2013 and is full. The passengers get off the train and walk to the race track. Train is operated by Local crew. The train must make money as it is full.that is why it is still running once a year

This reminds me of Boston's Patriot Train when they take two commuter trains, link them together with an engine at each end for twice the passengers, and do a once in a while trip slowly down barely-used tracks that go closest to the stadium!
