  • I just recently hit over 1 million views on my channel so I thought I would go back and redo one of my first full cover vids. I did Stand Up with Gods Of War just over 3 years ago now. This is one of my favourite songs from the band and I manage to get the main riff right this time. Cheers for the subs, views, likes, and comments over my guitar covering time here. :)

    Absolutely a wonderful job of not just playing "parts" of the song, but funneling the huge amounts of Guitar tracks that make this studio-created "Overdubbed" song to a part that *1* Guitarist could play and get the majority of "puzzle pieces" into. Your skills as an Arraigner are just as high as you skills behind the Guitar!

      Appears to be power chords... Possibly skipping a strong
      So like
      E---------
      A------7-----
      D-----palm muted-----
      G------9-----
      And looks like its on the second strong from the top = A string
      A -7 - 9 -- 11- 14- -14 -14--14 - - -11--9--11
      D --------------------------
      G - 9--11--13---16- -16 -16--16 - - - 13-11-13
      A -----11 --9 --7 --6 --- 6--7---6---4
      D ----
      G -----13--11--9--8
      Thats Basically what youre looking for I think.... Roughly... sorry I didnt transcribe as Tab should be but it should suffice...
      This prob of no use to the commenter anymore, but maybe someone else will find use of it....

    I love this era of Def Leppard, even though the circumstances behind Steve's death were so sad. I believe Adrenalize to be some of the best writing they ever did. Everything since has been sort of listless...even with Viv's obvious talent

    • @ianperge7331
      @ianperge7331 8 лет назад +3

      You should give the 2015 self-titled release a listen - it's *full* of fantastic, rocking songs from the heavier side of DL and just a *pinch* of the "Pop/Lighter Rock" that some of the fanbase think they strayed over to the side of for a while. Think a modern "High 'N Dry" with the perfect amount of "Hysteria" thrown in. Saw them live a few weeks ago, where they did *3* New Songs... which is the most since "Slang" IIRC (which I also believe is their most underrated release, and up there with Pyromania & Hysteria).

I toured and played in a Journey tribute band as a drummer a few years back. So much fun to play their music and watch folks still get off on hearing the music. You do the same here. Your ability to recreate their music is awesome and apparently folks enjoy watching you do it. I still dig the Belinda Carlisle (Leppardized) video.

    Always one of my favorites...Adrenalize got me through a tough senior year in high school (death of a friend / classmate), feeling lost and waiting for college etc. Typical teenage angst sorta shit, but so many songs resonated with me from this album. Great sounding album and mostly all good songs, albeit a couple that are just plain silly lyrically. But at least those songs had some cool riffs and guitar parts.
    So did you get to 2M views yet??

    • @bwm5150
      @bwm5150  6 лет назад +1

      They could've maybe split the album up a bit more or at least not have the first two singles be Let's Get Rocked and MLLAM. I feel it's a little light with it's songs like that although although the album does get depth with this, Tonight and White Lightning.
      Yeah I'm almost up to 3M. :)

    • @jbartyparty7398
      @jbartyparty7398 6 лет назад

      Ha that's awesome man!! 3M views...only 7M more and you're certified Platinum! ;-)
      Just happen to be listening to you shredding it up on Photograph (my all-time favorite Def Lep song) as it was this song & video that hooked me forever.
      Agree with you on Adrenalize, not sure why MLLAM was released so quickly. Hell if you're gonna go up tempo and fun, then Personal Property or even Heaven Is would've been a better choice. Much better songs in my opinion and better lyrically (at least imaginative compared to the former).
      Shit!! Haha sorry for my continued cussing but you're cover of Hysteria ITRIYF just came on and the intro / ebo part just made me stop and replay it. Best live version of Hysteria for sure.
      Woulda made more sense to come out with Have You Needed as a ballad after Rocked, which COULD have set up a slower and more serious White Lightning release. Then go back to the fun, glammy pop stuff to lighten the mood and then remind everyone of how melodically cool and serious you can be with Stand Up, which is quintessential rock ballad with better guitar. ETA: obviously they didn't release it as a single, but should have. Damn radio length standards. W.L. would've been rightfully huge with satellite radio thumbing their noses at regular radio.
      Anyway, just my $.02. Killing time before heading out of the office, but can't think of a better way to energize a late afternoon at work! Rock On! \m/

    Have you ever considered doing tutorials? Playing things note for note is cool but I'd like to know the hands on theory. I always love what you post so this isn't meant to be critical. Keep it rockin'!!!

      I have done tutorials, I've done 3 in the last couple of months, but they're very time consuming and I don't get a lot of free time to do them so I'm mostly likely to write up tabs. I offer custom tab and video lessons also at bwmguitarlessons@gmail.com

      I am curious - from the time you decide you're going to cover a song, how long does it take you to learn to play it, reverse engineer the arrangement, and create all the amp settings to capture the sound to get to this final version?

    • @bwm5150
      @bwm5150  7 лет назад

      On songs I've never learned before, I'll just repeat it a handful of times while trying to play along. Then do the same for the solos on their own. Usually will get a good grasp of it but I might want to have a couple of days worth of playing it causally to get it ingrained in my head a bit more. The only thing I'll change setting wise is stuff like the delay times and maybe the chorus. The main sound stays the same. :)

    Awesome as usual mate! When you get a chance, maybe do an updated rig video with settings. I have a Jackson JS32Q dinky , ME 70 and a tascam guitar trainer GB10 to play along with the songs and change pitch ect. Still struggling to get that crunchy ring sound you get. Maybe it's my pick lol

      All my basic settings are still the same as what's on the old vid.
