Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has warned the British government it was now facing a
"united republican struggle".
Addressing a peace rally in the republican-stronghold of west Belfast, Adams said that while he was offering "the hand of peace" to all parties, Sinn Fein must be immediately involved in all-party peace talks.
Addressing a crowd of several thousand in pouring rain in west Belfast nine days after the Docklands bombing in London, Adams hinted that the I-R-A would continue its armed struggle if needed.

"The British government had not defeated the I-R-A when the I-R-A declared a cessation 18 months ago. And there are only two ways of ending conflict - one is that one side seeks to defeat the other side and the other is that it is agreed by everyone to engage in a democratic resolution in a negotiated settlement. That's what the I-R-A leadership were persuaded to offer 18 months ago. They sued for peace. They put it up to John Major to accept the essence and the imperative of that offer and it's that which John Major has refused to do. And let me say clearly, from this platform, that there are lots of reason for Irish republicans to be angry."

He called for Republicans to unite in their fight for a unified Ireland.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"We - not me, not those of us in leadership - we came together into this peace process united. We are going to face the British government with a united republican struggle, with a united demand for peace. For peace talks now, and for freedom and for justice."

Adams claimed that while republicans wanted peace, the responsibility for the breakdown of the I-R-A ceasefire lay entirely with London's refusal to speak to Sinn Fein.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"The biggest failure of the last 18 months has been the refusal to talk. That is the biggest, solitary failure, the singular failure of those in high places. The refusal to sit down around a table to try and find some way to resolving the difficulties and the differences between the people of this island."

Adam's reputation has suffered badly as a result of last week's explosion which killed two people.
Both the British and Irish governments have said their top minister will not meet him and it is believed that the U-S government is considering denying him an American visa.

And I have that on good authority boy!
Gerry Adams saying he wasn't part of the IRA is like Michael Jackson saying he wasn't part of the Jackson 5
A true hero
Probably a millennial living in England with everything to thank Britain for, thinking it's cool and radical to support the IRA because your parents happen to be of Irish descent.
@@charliecatesby3346 ...pity a bomb didn't land in your letterbox. I in no way agree with the actions of the IRA, but when i see people like you that think Britain built the whole fucking world, I often have second thoughts.
@@rorysampson5492 I know this was an old comment but like it's so true I genuinely wish everyone could just shake hand and I don't condone the actions of either side but the people who hold the UK on a pedestal are just dilousional and really can't see how long eglinsh oppression in the entire world has been around for
IRA bastard
@@charliecatesby3346 so what about all the deaths the loyalists caused?
Looked amazing when he was younger. Cant believe he was about 40 here.
'Looked amazing?' What are you on about???
Voice like fine whisky
And I have that on good authority
Fun fact: It's impossible to say Gerry Adams in a non-Irish accent.
Geeeaary Adummmz
As a Swedish man in the uk Ireland deserves independence from the uk
They have it. Northern Ireland chooses to remain British
“As a man who has never grown up in Ireland and is looking at it from the outside…”
The self-qualifier everyone does in the comments section really adds nothing
Gerry is a brilliant man and a brilliant leader; and so good looking when he was young :)

A Great leadership.

0:04 looking for lost children. Ironic considering Gerry Adams is implicated in disappearing Jean McConville.
"Peace" says the former bomber and murderer.

Gerry I need some help to take over pubs I have taken off British squaddies in fights. They saw me as a easy target and their pubs are now under Ra ownership.
I'm not sure if I should know about it and they are running people into debt. Tell my auntie Tina she can have 1 in every hall and Woodhouse in England but all my aunties can't just bankrupt good businesses.

Sell outs in what way?
@Rowan O'Mullane Rowan, you talk some shite.
SINNER you ass hole
Karma will come
Brits out, fake refugees in.
And why not ? They have a lot more decency than the Brits ? How long is it going to take the powers that be! to realise that Ireland is not like the Falklands or Canada it's full of Irish people ? And about 1 million in the north who see themselves as more British than the queen but in most cases they are just Scottish bigots who have been in Ireland for few generations after their people came in search of work in one of hotbeds of industry about a hundred years ago Belfast
What do you mean fake refugees
@@High_rise12 He probably thinks anyone who ain't White is a refugee trying to reap benefits of the system.

why do have you BROWN EYES?????????
you not native Ireland
@@geoffwhite7535 OMG, your English is shocking. Obviously it's not your first language so you get a pass. Brown eyes? Not native Irish? Spot the Vargtard. Btw, Irish are first cousins to the Basques, and are also linked with Greece, Spain & Egypt. If you ever came to Ireland you would not see a bunch of gingers everywhere, but people with dark hair and brown & blue eyes. As for the Basques, they are the most ancient group of Europeans, NOT the Teutonic peoples who were a later development and tend to have that supremacist worm in their mindset due to the Talmudic influence from AshkeNAZIS, which by your profile pic, you'd know all about ;)
Free Palestine ❤
Loyaltits were beating Ira Gerry run to Brits to seek surrender
Loyalists were just in the way between the British and the IRA the loyalists were just annoying but weren't a threat
@@thegaelicwarrior1729 they were a threat to civilians and funeral goers
@@newjerseyyouth4853 yes they were definitely a threat to those I just meant that they weren't really all that much of a threat to the IRA who had more guns, numbers and people with backgrounds in the military/mercenary work
