The ETSA environmental scientists based at Torrens Island Power Station used to dive here regularly to monitor seagrasses and water temperatures throughout the year when I worked at Northern Power Station in the early 1980's. I only did one dive near the town wharf to salvage an outboard motor which jumped off the back of a tinny, terrible vis, muddy bottom and heaps of bottles.
Yea I had a angry pointer take a fish off us boat side mid December end of last year, Don't worry it was at back of my mind and I was shitting myself in front of the wall but my curiosity gets the better of me!!
Some one as crazy as me! Ive dived the bridges / wharf and jetty's in PTA this looks pretty typical of the top end of the gulf! plenty of soft coral, sponges etc and low Viz always wondered what the power station wall area was like! Nice!
Got balls!...I had a white slam into the keel of our boat hard 10m out from the wall from directly underneath. Lifted the stern of a 5m seafarer. Teeth left gouges in the fiberglass....it came up and chewed the transom also and was about 4.5m....still freaks me out even fishing there ....but swimming there!!
Yea man my last trip we had an aggressive pointer slam a king off us boat side... don't worry it was not a relaxing dive!! I was shitting myself, but I had to see what was down there!!
@@Krittersadventures I bet! We saw two that trip one super calm and the other very aggressive. I'd never seen one that intent on smashing the boat. But I've always wanted to see what it looks like down there 👍 Probably a jig or two hanging off the wall too.
@@Frankiemay2031 Hmmm the cage diving mob have a lot to answer for... A boat fishing is similar to the cage boat and so the GWS thinks "oh a Boat here is a free feed" (conditioned response) , Burley is always going to bring them in, Ive dived a lot of the upper Spencer gulf we dont have burley or crab nets or anything and haven't had any issues (touch lots of wood) however anywhere where there is a lot of fishing activity and consequently attractants in the water we choose to go elsewhwere
@@jeffbowey2654 Could be the case but who knows. We were putting down Burley at the time. I had heard an opinion that one was an adult female with a youngster and was more territorial than anything else. Hard to really know.
I am seriously impressed with this effort. Good work. It's nice to see what you are up against fishing there.
Cheers mate, I was always intrigued on what was busting me off so wanted to have a look what the fish could see!!

Mad Cat. After seeing those local Pointers breech twice I wouldn't have the guts to do that haha

Awesome stuff mate always wondered 🤔
Baffling why you'd do a dive like this without a shark shield. With chances of pointer encounter very high.
