what the heck is a Berserk and why does it look like a video game at some parts

Berserk is a manga that's been around since 1988. It features Guts/Gatts/Gattsu fighting against horrific flesh eating monsters, in his quest to kill his one time best friend Griffith, the newest demon lord. This vid contains clips from the 2012-13 movies featuring the Golden Age Arc, which is the backstory of Guts, Griffith, and the horrible thing that happens to Casca and his friends during the Eclipse. The movies had some critically panned CG instead of traditional 2d animation, so that's why it looks like a video game at some points.
Berserk refers to Guts rage induced fighting style, attacking all out. And later, his cursed Berserker armor, which keeps him alive from Slaans cosmic horror wound on his soul, but makes him lose control to his inner demons.

Its a manga that came out in the 80's and still continues tilk this day. The anime looks bad becasue they decided to animate the entire thing in 3d cgi

get past the brutality? there's hundreds of boring goreless animes, that's part of what makes berserk unique idk why you would want to 'get past' it

Berserk is beast anime the story is awesome for 1997 version but can't see new season so I can't give my opinion on it
