  • Pitching coaches talk a lot about the push/drag foot (right foot for right handed pitchers) but they don’t talk a ton about the stride leg!
The stride leg is actively working throughout the pitch just like your drag foot.
    Why is it important?
What are some things you can think about?
    What should it look like?
What position is most important to focus on?
    ^ all answered here
Bottom line: your stride foot is not meant to stay close to the ground. It’s meant to help raise you up and pull you forward your catcher. It helps you get BIG in the middle of your pitch, which can ultimately help you add velocity!

As a pitching coach, I appreciate how detailed you get with the different aspects of the motion. Thank You!

Thank you for this! As someone who ever only played slow pitch, now it makes sense when the coaches are hollering "stand tall" lol. My daughter is a very good pitcher now but needs these mechanics to be better and more accurate. This is great!

Amanda, I have been watching your videos and really like how you are very detailed. My daughter is in her first year of playing and she wants to learn how to pitch. Wondering if you run any type of camps or one on one training?

Good video, trying to get my daughter to stand up tall and not lean forward, definitely something I'm going to have her try

Are we using the landing leg merely for a stop or are we also using it to pull on the ground to increase the back side speed?

I get so aggravated because my stride kind of goes in a zigzag like isnt straight I don’t even know how I’m doing it

If you aren’t sure how you are doing it, then I would definitely recommend doing some reps into a mirror. When you can see yourself it helps you to figure out how and why something might be happening. That way you can coach yourself through it or at least have a better understanding of your body through your pitch.

My Dad got me a new Pitching Coach and the way that she is having me pitch hurts, it feels unnatural, I'm stiff all the time and I can't relax. So do I continue pitching the way that she is having me pitch?
