I bought one of the 8940s with the 10700K, and the RTX-2070S and it already had the 500W PS and the upsized CPU cooler. I do want to add the front fan and move the HD cages which are not used but I think I should be good other than that.

Similar situation here. Have a 8940, i7K w/the upgraded cooler, 3070 gpu, and 500w ps. Did you ever upgrade anything? Thinking of swapping out at least the exhaust fan, and maybe adding 1 or 2 fans to the front…

I have an 8940 that came with a 360 watt PSU, a i7 10700 and a 1660 Ti. I installed a 120MM fan on the back and put the 80MM fan on the front. I put the CPU cooler from the G5 on, I upgraded the RAM to 128GB, I added 2TB NVMe, and I ordered a 500 watt PSU and an RTX 3070 Ti that has an 8 and 6 pin connector. It’s much longer though so I may have to remove the front case fan or move it higher but I’m not sure there’s much circulation higher up. The specs on the 3070 Ti say it uses 200 watts but Gigabyte recommends a 650 watt PSU. The i910900K I ordered uses 125 watts so that’s 325 watts not including peripherals and spikes. I probably should’ve built an AMD barebones kit, and I may yet! I just started doing video editing and that wasn’t a consideration when I bought this computer but now that I have it I want to see what I can do with it.

@@NotClipzard Long story short, I got a 3060ti, which worked great and I loved it in the G5.
But I got an itch to build my own after a string of GREAT sales (black Friday and other random deals) summer-November 2022. I also had a friend that was looking for a "midrange gaming PC," sold I him the G5 (w/2060S) for a very reasonable price, and kept the 3060ti for the new box (13600k, 32gb ram).
But the 3060ti was rock solid and held many games fairly good at high (120+) frame rates, with reasonable settings and/or DLSS. Or looked gorgeous maxed out at 45ish fps. Overall pleased.

I watched another video of a guy removing the CPU fan for a better one that would give it a better temp also when it came to the noise. but after he installed it he realized the noise was coming from the power supply not the CPU just wondering if it is still issue if I upgrade to 500w as he did not mention if is power supply was 360 or 500w

Their product description and marketing is a joke. I purchased the XPS8940 and it says in the description supports up to 3070, and I found it’s actually the 360w version when I got it.

@@HardwareSense Do you think the RTX 3060 can also run on the original 360w psu as well? I tried it by just connecting the 6pins to the 8pins hole on the GPU, and it works fine. But I am afraid it's not a long term solution
