I want to give this a try but don't really want to keep the fish. Do whitefish have a vented swim bladder? I don't want to target them if they can't be released safely. Also what size jigging raps or spoons will they hit? There mouths seem quite small.
Hi, thanks for the great video. There is a good sized lake in Michigan (7 miles by 3 miles with an average depth of 40 feet) and I know its loaded with Whitefish, but nobody ever fishes for them, but people sometimes bow fish them in late november.... im just dying to know if any of the methods you used in this video will work on this lake, Hubbard Lake Mi. and if so, why doesnt anyone ever fish for them ?.. it would be absolutely crazy if this works, I always assumed the whitefish were not fishable in Hubbard Lake.,... im thinking that was stupid of me to think like that after watching this video....
Add a little Soy to the brine... and try (Just TRY it 1 time! ....thank me later) using Alder and a little Apple wood instead of all Cherry. Dear Lord... tis a religious experience here on Earth! Re: Catching in shallower lakes - Sometime fish in shallower lakes get those white grubs in the meat, making them a little more unattractive for eating.

What size jigging raps/flat raps you using?
Do not overlook the Crippled Herring (Rapala), or the Sonic BaitFish (Mack's Lure Co.), to score big on Whitefish. Capt Pete

Yup, you can catch these guys and release them without worry! Just like lakers.
Personally I bleed my fish out before I put them in my cooler or live well

i get them vertical jigging just like this on my lake here in Ontario! Give it a try, i'm sure you'll have luck
