TAM - Transporte Aéreo Militar Bolivia / TAM721
Departure: Trinidad Teniente Jorge Henrich Arauz Airport (TDD), Bolivia (Rwy 32)
Arrival: Cochabamba Jorge Wilsterman Airport (CBB), Bolivia (Rwy 32)
    Date: 19th May 2015 / Seat: 2A
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Window view from TAM's MA-60 which is back in service. Took me more than one attempt to get on it, after its two landing gear incidents. Here, FAB-96 is seen operating TAM's multi-sector flight from Trinidad to Cochabamba after arriving from Riberalta and Guayaramerín. At the end of the video, I added some footage of FAB-96 in the morning while departing to Trinidad on its outbound sector (had to make sure its the MA-60 since TAM is swapping types randomly in the schedule). The MA-60 is a derivative of the Chinese copy of the Soviet An-24 design (which was named Xi'an Y-7), however modernized with western systems, avionics and engines. This particular one is one of two airframes owned by TAM, it was built in 2007 or 2008 (there's conflicting info around).

@ I FLY TOO thanks for your comment, you are right, the MA-60 is related to the An-24. Even the wings still have the distinctive camber. Subbed back to your channel. Cheers!

Loran Interesting to see that the MA-60 is not certified to fly in the EU or the US.

@@xarifa777 MA60 is based on the An-24, which was built in China as the Xi'an Y-7. This means the Chinese manufacturers know enough about this design to refine it and make it into a reliable airframe.

@@HDAviationVideos Who care about racist EU and US they thinks they better than everyone else. As long as China have the own airplane and space station they can bypass the western sanction. China and Russia are only two country can break the western monopoly and alternative to the global south.

Great video! I didn't know that BOA was still operating B732s. I may try to go there one of these days and get on one before they are retired. By the way, it seemed quite scary to be "almost touching" the blade tips.

HD Aviation Videos Thanks for your comment. The 732 you see departing is actually from TAM Bolivia. BoA even went one step further and now sadly introduced 737-700s, and of course my flight to TDD was on the 73G (chance was 2:10). TAM still hast several 732s, although there is only one operating at a time. I was booked on it but it went AOG and got swapped to their only 733. I heard TAM has recently purchased another pair of 733s, so the days of the 732 are numbered. About a year is left for them I heard.

BoA has never used the 732, ever. Started with a few Classics, then added some NG's. TAM is now deceased and their 732s are gone, along with its BAe-146's, MA-60, 722Adv and Fokker F-27's.

seemed like a nice smooth flight. I get this plane mixed up with the foker as they seem to be similar in style. rob

robert balboni Hi Rob, yes, the F-27/50 is about similar in size and style. The MA-60 is originally derived from the Antonov An-24, and you can still tell it has many similarities in its appearance. However the manufacturer AVIC did introduce western avionics, engines, etc. Most pax I guess couldn't tell the difference between an MA-60 and a DHC-8, however I found the MA-60 vibrates quite a bit more and it felt heavy during climb-out. You can see this also at the end of the video when I filmed its departure from CBB, the climb-out is rather flat.
