- We started our journey into our new offering: Facebook Live Conversations, with a risky fellow of sorts, BobRISKY. I say 'risky' because we stood the chance of throwing our regulars off balance. Why would a glamorous and wholesome magazine spend time chatting up such a controversial figure that many frown at? I say 'why not!' Who better than us to get to the bottom of things. As a publication that seeks to inform as it xrays issues and phenomenon which builds, we can't ignore things that may even seem to threaten the norm.
So if Idris - the promoter of BobRISKY is at the centre of sending people, especially the youth, down a path that threatens the future of family as we know it, we needed to find out why. I Adesuwa Onyenokwe with my years of experience as an interviewer just had to get my 'teeth' into it, so to speak.
I doubt if anyone else now or later could have unearthed a more frank conversation than I did. Just a few things in 'defence' of the interviewer, Adesuwa.1. The sweat patch. She did say that they waited 2 hours for him before he finally showed up. If you have ever lived in Nigeria, you'd know that it is HOT particularly in the north & in Lagos. Some days are much hotter than others so a sweat patch is not uncommon.2. Some people complained she was rude. I think she was a bit touchy but she was asking EXACTLY what most Nigerians want to know about Bobrisky.3. She was ONLY using her phone to keep track of the questions. Most of the questions were actually sent in to her and she asked them raw and direct. It was an opportunity for bobrisky to clear the vagueness surrounding his personality.4. Please understand the age and Nigerian factor. This is NOT calling for a debate but it is a Nigerian thing, that older people (your 'senior') usually have more....freedom I guess is 'interrogating' you or throwing a little more than subtle shade about what they disapprove of. That's the best way I can explain it at this time. I think she really tried her best in allowing the interview to flow while asking those questions we REALLY want to know. The video caption drew us here. None of us clicked on this because we were looking to learn about his products. This is an interview ABOUT bobrisky...

She touched him a lot! One time, she asked for permission. But overall, most Nigerian "parents" (espacially mothers) don't think they need to ask for permission to touch you. (as long as it is not in a inappropriate manner)

Theres something about touch. It makes one feel closer. And in this case, shes way older, and she had to create the proper atmosphere to make him feel comfortable, given the perceptions already in place about the risky guy.

It was a Facebook live interview so she was getting questions live which is why she kept checking her phone. for being touchy feely, she was just trying to relate to him and make him feel comfortable so he can express himself and feel free. He refused interviews with so many other people so this is probably how she got him to agree. it's not supposed to be a professional interview in that sense. just something fun and laid back.
This aside she is a professional in every sense of the word and a name to reckon with in the media industry in Nigeria. you should check her out.

lol with all the lies he tells, its pretty impossible to have a professional interview with him. He pretty much denied everything he has told us on snapchat prior to this. Not sure if you follow him on snapchat. i like that she wasn't too serious. i didn't find it condescending at all. She was definitely baiting him and that added to the humor. Just like the interview Toke did with Vic.O a few years ago. check that one out. Hilarious.

It's about respecting other people's personal space, unless they indicate they are okay with it. That should be applied to everyone, especially in a professional interview.
personal space is a cultural phenomenon some cultures have two feet of personal space, others 0....
This is an interview and certain rules of professionalism should still be applied, respect being one. That goes across all cultures. If there is an established familiarity with the interviewer and person being interviewed, that's one thing. However, it's clear that these two don't have that type of relationship.
....and professionalism follows culture...just because some cultures have been dominant in recent years doesn't mean their standard of professionalism is sacrosanct or should i say immutable.....besides this is social programming not something about a serious topic. And generally social news tend to attempt some type of informal/casual take on things...

Bobrisky is human, all we have to do is pray for him, I love him I don,t agree but at the same time he hurt no one, and he has the style I love it.
It's their position to agree or disagree with what they do with their own life agreeing or disagreeing for your own self not others is the way for all to follow their own path without stopping anyone from following theirs,mostly all our bodies want to be a certain way,some people are met with a body that fits some are not so lucky off the bet and they fix the body,like you fix the wrapping on a gift should it not fit.
for an accounting student he's really bad with calculations he's 25 now but was 16 in 2011. he's dad has 6 kids from the 1st wife, 1 from the 2nd and 3 from his mum and he says the total is 9 and a good thing he didn't get a job as an accountant

Great diction and all no doubt but keep it professional woman. Plus, she made him feel uncomfortable in my opinion, with the way she was cross examining him and was like look into my eyes and all that crap.
