Yes I think abortion should be legal but it shouldn't be "celebrated". We have had 6o million abortions. Our population is shrinking but thanks to immigration it has grown. Most immigrants are highly educated and fulfill needed professions. Few are actually refugees. And we need young people in order to support the elderly on social security. If it wasn't for immigration we wouldn't be able to fund social security. So we need less abortions if we want our population tk grow. And while abortion should be legal, it will be done unsafely if it isn't, it should be seen as a problem with people not using protection.

Lila thank you for being such an inspiration to me as a new prolife leader. As for growing in Holiness and how we present ourselves, I can honestly say I spent my whole life trying to get comfortable wearing things like shorts in the summer, and spaghetti straps dresses and tank tops. My body type does not lend itself well to those Styles but most importantly I realized that no matter what my body looks like they are not appropriate for anyone. Modesty matters. It was such a liberating feeling last summer when I finally gave myself permission to say I am not wearing dresses and skirts that come any higher than my knee, I will not wear spaghetti straps and I will not wear shorts ever again unless they are pajamas or part of a bathing suit. If Jesus returned right now do I want to be ashamed of what I am wearing before the king?

I think that guys need to be on their guard to with modesty. Going to the pool being shirtless with yer pecs n abbs popping telling people that you just "do it for yourself" is not right. Women have become more immodest because men have not led by example in modesty. Your the man, lead.

About 10 years ago, I clearly remember seeing a female friend in the evening at a soccer game that our children were in. She was wearing yoga tights, so I asked her if she just came straight from the gym. She looked at me oddly and said, “I worked out this morning”. I was blown away that she would continue wearing the tights for the rest of the day. This is around the time that “athliesure” wear was becoming popular.
Guys always wore sweatpants in my high school. Girls wore yoga pants. I wore khakis and jeans paired with a collared shirt. It’s very casual but not extremely trendy nowadays.

I guess if you only do the physical positions it's really okay and can even be good for your body. The thing is: it's really hard to find a yoga class that doesn't mix it up with mantras and adoration for gods and some crazy stuff. But if you want to do only the positions in order to get better health for your body, I think it's okay
Yes, yoga positions are literally bowing down to Hindu “gods” - do not practice yoga - stretches and breathing exercises are one thing - but yoga is a spiritual practice that does not glorify the one true God
It really depends on what yoga pants are paired with and what is being done. For example if paired with a nice button up shirt or long sleeve for casual wear isn't anymore immodest than leggings or jeans. Also there isn't anything wrong with the body so being form fitting isn't inherently lust provoking, but doing so in an outfit that is worn for that purpose is where lines start to get crossed.

It doesn't matter if most people should or shouldn't be okay with seeing nakedness. The fact of the matter is that most people WILL be scandalized if they see it. I'm not talking about inherent sinfulness, as I am not really interested. What I am interested in is the actual affects on people. You can do nothing to change what men might think in their hearts if you show yourself to them as a women, or vise versa. And while yes, people need to control their lust, of course, it does no good to either soul to present the opportunity for lust to them. That is called scandal. There is the sin of scandal given and sin of scandal taken. Both parties have a share in the sin (assuming someone is actually scandalized, which they most likely will be)

If we were to be intellectually honest, then we need to admit that women find men sexually attractive and men should ALSO be dressing modestly. This is not just a burden for women to carry to "protect" men. Men are shirking their responsibility and you would be lying to say that no woman has ever looked at a shirtless man without lust. Given this, MEN have a responsibility to their sisters in Christ, and should not go shirtless, nor sleeveless and should wear pants that fall just above the knee or go to their ankles. Their clothing should not be skin tight. Chest covered while swimming. Otherwise, modesty isn't about protecting people from their lustful nature. It's about subjugating women and elevating men. It's about a separate standard and level or protection offered to one sex and not the other. If you truly believe that modesty is an action of protection and love, then live that. Men, dress modestly, too.
Sorry but this is very well intentioned actually, women are supposed be submissive and have different standards applied. The most important reason is that this is God's word. Nowhere in the bible is gender equality backed up(dignity is very different than equality). If you look up until the modern feminist movement started by radicals at Senneca Falls started, all Christian teaching was very clear on the difference between men and women and the difference in standards applied. Now science should not be needed to follow up the word of God but men are much more visual and have massively higher sex drive than women(at least 20 times) but that proves the point objectively.
While men do also need to dress modestly (in standards for men), women have different standards of modesty for dress. Men need to be more modest in their actions
I am going to be very transparent here, especially after a pandemic, there are some of us that for reasons outside of our control cannot wear normal jeans. I'd have to get jeans or pants specially made for my body type. I'm working on it but please do not judge yoga pants because for many people stretchy pants are the only types of pants that fit.

I'm a former yoga instructor. I started practicing when I was 13 years old. The short answer is No, Christians should not practice yoga. For Christians who want the longer answer, I'm still waiting to find a good video or article on this. I've thought about making one. Many that I find were former yogis immersed into yoga, others were Christians who just did gym yoga. As Catholics we are called not to be superstitious and intention matters. I became scrupulous and couldn't even stretch. Like, noooo stretching at ALL because I could feel this rush of power (self love) going through me that I got from yoga. Shortly after I quit yoga, I started to see errors in my protestant theology. I had given up yoga but needed something to fill the hole that yoga left. It was the VISIBLE church, The Catholic Church. I loved how yoga united the breath (the spiritual) with the body (the physical). What does that better than the sacraments and sacramentals?

For starters, the fact that Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant. When you research the typological links between 2 Samuel 6 and Luke 1, it is truly mind-blowing what Luke is actually saying in the Gospel account. After researching this, re-read Luke 1 and 2 keeping in mind that the Ark of the Covenant was the holiest object known to man precisely because of God's presence on the mercy seat. Mary was never 'just another woman' that God decided to pick as the mother of His Son. Once you understand this, it becomes so much easier to understand the dogmas of her immaculate conception and perpetual virginity. Catholicism presents a beautiful tapestry woven by God. In the appropriate setting, cycle shorts *may* be ok, but they are still very revealing. Ask yourself are those skin tight shorts really necessary to biking, or can you make a small sacrifice and do without in order to not cause others to lust.

I am physically very enormous. I HAVE to wear pants, specifically yoga pants actually because they’re 99 percent of the time the only pants that will actually FIT me. if I try to wear dresses I’ll get extremely painful rashes and chafing on my inner thighs. not every single woman can only wear dresses even if they wanted to (not that they have to in the slightest, there is NOTHING wrong with women wearing pants, you sound ridiculous)

Mary kisses her baby. Her baby is Jesus. Her baby's face is the face of God. Jesus's face is the face of God. Jesus is God. Mary kisses her baby - who is God. Mary is the Mother of God.
I have had such mixed feelings about that song. When I hear it I find myself saying 'yes', 'no' in response to each line (As in yes she knew, no she didn't). If your took out the many repetitions of "Mary, did you know?" you are left with many great true statements about God. So if I sing along to it I tend to not sing half of it.

In this case though it is eating the meat and participating in the worship. I know this lady like many others who are new to the faith and also those who are ignorant of the spiritual dangers of participating in yoga. But once you know you have an obligation to separate yourself.

No, they are not pants. And the fact that God foresaw these and was appalled by them I am in total agreement with. I find them repulsive and disgusting. I agree, more holiness, and can we just be rid of these tasteless pants. Add the comment "probably not" on Mary showing up in the mentioned fashion, she would have been appalled by the mere sight of them, so "no, she would not!".
It just makes me incredibly angry when I’m struggling with lust(currently fighting a losing battle but I think things will change soon) and women are just carelessly dressed immodestly(tight clothing/lack of clothing). If I have to run errands after the gym, I change my clothes.
Ok, but have some consideration for the men who go to your gym. The gym is public. It's a safe bet that you're probably luring some of them into sin when you wear skin tight clothing that leaves nothing to the imagination. What I don't get is how people say that yoga pants are "must have" attire at the gym. 25 years ago that wasn't the case and people got along fine.

People have different standards of modesty. Many consider clothing that is not tight to be modest, her blouse is not tight. And you can barely see any of her chest.

Check out some of their articles about it :) You may not agree with it at the end of reading them, but I think it will give you a better idea of where Catholics are coming from when they say praying to saints. I may be wrong but I think it’s not entirely what you think it is :)

Not true. Mary was pregnant and gave birth to other children after Jesus. The Bible clearly talks about the Siblings of Jesus. The Catholic Church changed they their teaching on the age of Joseph a few time from old man to young man and repeat. If there was an historical character called Jesus that says nothing about if that character was a literal God on earth. That's the problem that you have no historical evidence for. There was nothing "modest" about Mary giving birth on the streets in the poor part of Bethlehem.. if you interpret it to be about the amount of skin that is showing. But the Bible never, not one time, makes modesty about women preventing men from lust by covering more of their bodies. But what does the Bible say? It says not to show off your wealth, not to show partiality. Weird that Catholics have problems with yoga pants but not giant golden crucifixes in 3-story buildings lit by priceless stained-glass windows...

We don't talk about Mary except at Christmas time because Mary is only talked about in the New Testament mostly during the birth of Christ event and later during Holy Week. Why prioritize someone in church beyond what God's Word itself does? Catholic obsession with Mary is beyond what is Biblically justified. Sola Scriptura !! ;)
Check out behold your mother by Tim staples he talks about why Catholics believe so many things about Mary from the Bible he uses the old and New Testament :) You also have to ask yourself who put the individual letters of the New Testament together and determine if you are deciding if it is God’s Word or if something outside of itself is claiming it to be God’s Word. Hebrews, for example does not claim to be God’s Word. Why take it as such?

Fact remains that Mary is NOT the redemptive figure of scripture nor is she the central figure in Scripture as much as Catholics try to make her so. I recommended a book that shows a person’s interpretation of the Bible yes but, To be fair you interpret the Bible also. Everyone does. 33,000 denominations exist in Protestantism. What gives you so much comfort knowing that your interpretation of Scripture is correct? Sola Scriptura does not lead all believers who have the Spirit to one true interpretation of Scripture. Every person carries their own bias when they come to read the Scripture. Of course we have the Holy Spirit to help us in our interpreting, but the Holy Spirit does not vow that all men have the authority to interpret Scripture accurately. If so, then all True Christians would agree theologically. The author of that book I mentioned also has an interpretation. But the interpretation is not his but rather that of the Church. Protestants say not to trust the church’s interpretation because it’s just men interpreting it, but aren’t we all men? And in fact, didn’t men write the Scriptures? Men did but they were lead by the Spirit and therefore the Word must be interpreted by the Spirit. Certain men had the authority to write it and certain men have the authority to interpret it. Again my question is if you have your own interpretation of the Scriptures with all good intentions aren’t you still trusting in yourself to interpret it? And how do you know that the books in there all belong? Hebrews does not claim to be God’s Word. On who’s authority do you accept it as such? The Bible did not come down from Heaven in a divine parachute. If you don’t accept that Church’s authority that it is the Word of God then you accept it on your own authority.

Yes I think abortion should be legal but it shouldn't be "celebrated". We have had 6o million abortions. Our population is shrinking but thanks to immigration it has grown. Most immigrants are highly educated and fulfill needed professions. Few are actually refugees. And we need young people in order to support the elderly on social security. If it wasn't for immigration we wouldn't be able to fund social security.
So we need less abortions if we want our population tk grow. And while abortion should be legal, it will be done unsafely if it isn't, it should be seen as a problem with people not using protection.

Lila thank you for being such an inspiration to me as a new prolife leader. As for growing in Holiness and how we present ourselves, I can honestly say I spent my whole life trying to get comfortable wearing things like shorts in the summer, and spaghetti straps dresses and tank tops. My body type does not lend itself well to those Styles but most importantly I realized that no matter what my body looks like they are not appropriate for anyone. Modesty matters. It was such a liberating feeling last summer when I finally gave myself permission to say I am not wearing dresses and skirts that come any higher than my knee, I will not wear spaghetti straps and I will not wear shorts ever again unless they are pajamas or part of a bathing suit. If Jesus returned right now do I want to be ashamed of what I am wearing before the king?

I guess if you only do the physical positions it's really okay and can even be good for your body. The thing is: it's really hard to find a yoga class that doesn't mix it up with mantras and adoration for gods and some crazy stuff. But if you want to do only the positions in order to get better health for your body, I think it's okay

Yes, yoga positions are literally bowing down to Hindu “gods” - do not practice yoga - stretches and breathing exercises are one thing - but yoga is a spiritual practice that does not glorify the one true God
It really depends on what yoga pants are paired with and what is being done. For example if paired with a nice button up shirt or long sleeve for casual wear isn't anymore immodest than leggings or jeans. Also there isn't anything wrong with the body so being form fitting isn't inherently lust provoking, but doing so in an outfit that is worn for that purpose is where lines start to get crossed.
I do believe you are wrong. Stay away from any form fitting clothing. Especially if you are a woman.

It doesn't matter if most people should or shouldn't be okay with seeing nakedness. The fact of the matter is that most people WILL be scandalized if they see it. I'm not talking about inherent sinfulness, as I am not really interested. What I am interested in is the actual affects on people.
You can do nothing to change what men might think in their hearts if you show yourself to them as a women, or vise versa. And while yes, people need to control their lust, of course, it does no good to either soul to present the opportunity for lust to them. That is called scandal. There is the sin of scandal given and sin of scandal taken.

If we were to be intellectually honest, then we need to admit that women find men sexually attractive and men should ALSO be dressing modestly. This is not just a burden for women to carry to "protect" men. Men are shirking their responsibility and you would be lying to say that no woman has ever looked at a shirtless man without lust. Given this, MEN have a responsibility to their sisters in Christ, and should not go shirtless, nor sleeveless and should wear pants that fall just above the knee or go to their ankles. Their clothing should not be skin tight. Chest covered while swimming.
Otherwise, modesty isn't about protecting people from their lustful nature. It's about subjugating women and elevating men. It's about a separate standard and level or protection offered to one sex and not the other. If you truly believe that modesty is an action of protection and love, then live that. Men, dress modestly, too.
Sorry but this is very well intentioned actually, women are supposed be submissive and have different standards applied. The most important reason is that this is God's word. Nowhere in the bible is gender equality backed up(dignity is very different than equality). The reality is that God intended the rules to be different.

Modernist interpretations are well meaning but do violate the word of God,. If you look up until the modern feminist movement started by radicals at Senneca Falls started, all Christian teaching was very clear on the difference between men and women and the difference in standards applied. Now science should not be needed to follow up the word of God but men are much more visual and have massively higher sex drive than women(at least 20 times) but that proves the point objectively.
While men do also need to dress modestly (in standards for men), women have different standards of modesty for dress. Men need to be more modest in their actions

I am going to be very transparent here, especially after a pandemic, there are some of us that for reasons outside of our control cannot wear normal jeans. I'd have to get jeans or pants specially made for my body type. I'm working on it but please do not judge yoga pants because for many people stretchy pants are the only types of pants that fit.

I'm a former yoga instructor. I started practicing when I was 13 years old.
The short answer is No, Christians should not practice yoga. For Christians who want the longer answer, I'm still waiting to find a good video or article on this. I've thought about making one. Many that I find were former yogis immersed into yoga, others were Christians who just did gym yoga. As Catholics we are called not to be superstitious and intention matters. I became scrupulous and couldn't even stretch. Like, noooo stretching at ALL because I could feel this rush of power (self love) going through me that I got from yoga. Shortly after I quit yoga, I started to see errors in my protestant theology. I had given up yoga but needed something to fill the hole that yoga left. It was the VISIBLE church, The Catholic Church. I loved how yoga united the breath (the spiritual) with the body (the physical). What does that better than the sacraments and sacramentals?

As a Catholic convert, I can honestly say there is far too much about Mary (Our Lady) than can be said here. Investigate her. She is amazing.
To put it simply... Everything. Everything we know about Mary to be true comes from sacred tradition, which has been passed down to each generation since the church was established. We won’t read all about it in scripture bc most of what we know about her come from the knowledge of the first early Christians who knew her personally. I’d say look in to early Christian writings, their quotes, their revelations and they all speak about her ❤️ it just takes some research

For starters, the fact that Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant. When you research the typological links between 2 Samuel 6 and Luke 1, it is truly mind-blowing what Luke is actually saying in the Gospel account. After researching this, re-read Luke 1 and 2 keeping in mind that the Ark of the Covenant was the holiest object known to man precisely because of God's presence on the mercy seat. Mary was never 'just another woman' that God decided to pick as the mother of His Son.
Once you understand this, it becomes so much easier to understand the dogmas of her immaculate conception and perpetual virginity. Catholicism presents a beautiful tapestry woven by God.

Holiness is not (necessarily) the positions the church takes, it is definitely the position the heart takes.
The official Church teaching is that modesty is a virtue and must be practiced. Many bishops in the past were against women wearing pants.

It just makes me incredibly angry when I’m struggling with lust(currently fighting a losing battle but I think things will change soon) and women are just carelessly dressed immodestly(tight clothing/lack of clothing). Yoga pants at the gym? Sure! Yoga pants as an outfit? Not classy. Also don't forget the top worn with the yoga pants at the gym needs to be considered. I only use yoga pants in my home as "house clothes" or at the gym. My husband loves my yoga pants which is a good thing. Yoga pants are the lazy girl's fashion. If I have to run errands after the gym, I change my clothes.
Ok, but have some consideration for the men who go to your gym. The gym is public. It's a safe bet that you're probably luring some of them into sin when you wear skin tight clothing that leaves nothing to the imagination. What I don't get is how people say that yoga pants are "must have" attire at the gym. 25 years ago that wasn't the case and people got along fine.

Lila, I love all that you say but I don’t think it was fair of you to generalize Protestant churches like that. Majority of the stuff you said Protestant churches don’t do, my Protestant church does do. However, I cannot understand why a Christian would pray to a saint... or think that is ok because that is definitely not biblical.
Hey Rebecca :) I’m becoming Catholic but I grew up Protestant. I can’t write a long explanation atm but if you ever have a chance check out “Catholic Answers” and search praying to saints. Check out some of their articles about it :) You may not agree with it at the end of reading them, but I think it will give you a better idea of where Catholics are coming from when they say praying to saints. I may be wrong but I think it’s not entirely what you think it is :)

Not true. Mary was pregnant and gave birth to other children after Jesus. The Bible clearly talks about the Siblings of Jesus. The Catholic Church changed they their teaching on the age of Joseph a few time from old man to young man and repeat. He was young enough to walk the long way they needed to walk before the birth of Jesus.

At least with yoga pants we can point and prove them. Where as the Jesus character is just a character from an old book no one know who wrote.

The really big question is was this character(s) a supernatural entity? Was this Jesus character really a God, that's the part we have no historical evidence for other than a book that no one knows who wrote. There are no originals just fragments of copies of copies. If there was an historical character called Jesus that says nothing about if that character was a literal God on earth. That's the problem that you have no historical evidence for. You can look this up, no need to take my word. A long time ago I believed it but now I've left that behind I can at least examine the evidence for what it actually is and not what some apologetic think it is.

Even if the Romans recorded a execution it doesn't mean that this person was god coming to earth for a bad weekend then going back home to be himself in heaven. What was the sacrifice even? He basically sacrifice himself to himself for his own rules. When you think of it, it really is kind of silly.

There was nothing "modest" about Mary giving birth on the streets in the poor part of Bethlehem.. if you interpret it to be about the amount of skin that is showing. But the Bible never, not one time, makes modesty about women preventing men from lust by covering more of their bodies. But what does the Bible say? It says not to show off your wealth, not to show partiality.
Weird that Catholics have problems with yoga pants but not giant golden crucifixes in 3-story buildings lit by priceless stained-glass windows...

@@joelancon7231 Porn addiction completely rewires your brain's response to sexual stimuli and increases the threshold for arousal due to the constant abnormal levels of dopamine released by viewing pornography. If you are addicted to porn you are a very poor bellwether for what is immodest I'm sorry to say and you shouldn't be telling other people what is or isn't immodest. To a normal man who isn't desensitized by constant pornography seeing a woman in skin tight clothing that highlights the curves of her body is arousing as nature intended it to be.

We don't talk about Mary except at Christmas time because Mary is only talked about in the New Testament mostly during the birth of Christ event and later during Holy Week. Why prioritize someone in church beyond what God's Word itself does? Catholic obsession with Mary is beyond what is Biblically justified. Sola Scriptura !! ;)

Check out behold your mother by Tim staples he talks about why Catholics believe so many things about Mary from the Bible he uses the old and New Testament :) You also have to ask yourself who put the individual letters of the New Testament together and determine if you are deciding if it is God’s Word or if something outside of itself is claiming it to be God’s Word. Hebrews, for example does not claim to be God’s Word. Why take it as such?

Fact remains that Mary is NOT the redemptive figure of scripture nor is she the central figure in Scripture as much as Catholics try to make her so. She had a role to play in the story of Christ, to be sure, but she is no more special than anyone else who played a role in God's plan.
I recommended a book that shows a person’s interpretation of the Bible yes but, To be fair you interpret the Bible also. Everyone does. 33,000 denominations exist in Protestantism. What gives you so much comfort knowing that your interpretation of Scripture is correct? Sola Scriptura does not lead all believers who have the Spirit to one true interpretation of Scripture. Every person carries their own bias when they come to read the Scripture. Of course we have the Holy Spirit to help us in our interpreting, but the Holy Spirit does not vow that all men have the authority to interpret Scripture accurately. If so, then all True Christians would agree theologically. The author of that book I mentioned also has an interpretation. But the interpretation is not his but rather that of the Church. Protestants say not to trust the church’s interpretation because it’s just men interpreting it, but aren’t we all men? And in fact, didn’t men write the Scriptures? Men did but they were lead by the Spirit and therefore the Word must be interpreted by the Spirit. Certain men had the authority to write it and certain men have the authority to interpret it. Again my question is if you have your own interpretation of the Scriptures with all good intentions aren’t you still trusting in yourself to interpret it? And how do you know that the books in there all belong? Hebrews does not claim to be God’s Word. On who’s authority do you accept it as such? The Bible did not come down from Heaven in a divine parachute. If you don’t accept that Church’s authority that it is the Word of God then you accept it on your own authority.
