      The main reason i'm feeling lost is because other grownups suddenly just stopped ordering me around, and to think that i actually wanted this to happen when i was a teen but now that i'm being held responsible for my own life i feel like such a useless person who can't even figure out how to handle his own self

      @@youneskasdi That is why you cultivate discipline, which will take work. I'm only figuring that out, really, at age 29. Started occurring to me maybe two years ago. Being an adult (that others would respect) means that you need to learn how to crack the whip on yourself. That is being an adult and that is being disciplined. Do difficult things because you know they will make you better. Children are incapable of this. But this is ideally, what makes adults different.

      the problem is you morons are spoon fed your entire life and never listened to yourself or cultivated an understanding of yourself.so now you are completely empty and shallow. That has fucking nothing to do with discipline or the structure you were born into.. more structure does not lead to understanding of ones self.. its just more insanity and polarized thinking.

    If you are reading this, this is directed to you:
    I am a 22 y/o male. In college online part-time. I work full-time. I live with parents (good home life). I'm in a relationship. None of what I just said matters. None of my hardships or accomplishments matter. You are your own person with your own unique experiences, hardships, and accomplishments. DO NOT compare yourself to me, the guy in this video, your peers, or anyone else. I personally believe that this video was simply an expression of built up emotions from a 29 y/o guy who felt he was ready for change in his life. THAT'S GREAT. We all go through this sometimes and this video brought you here, as it did me, because we are probably in our twenties and looking for some sound advice, or maybe we also feel that we have "wasted our 20's."
    Whatever the reason, just remember that you are freaking awesome, no matter who you are and no matter what other people say or think, and no matter what you have done or where you came from. Make the most of your life by accepting your mistakes as opportunities to grow and humbly enjoying your times of success.
    I love you, and I am proud of you. Keep moving forward :)

      I am 32 years old and about to turn 33 I wasted... Absolutely WASTED every single day of my 20's. I'll never get it back. Until right this second I've never talked about it with anyone because I've felt so ashamed of myself and my life. I genuinely hated myself.. For about 8 straight years. Not just because I'm boring, it was "oh if I don't wake up tomorrow the world will be all the better for it." I didn't care if I lived or died because for almost 10 years I did nothing with myself because I lost everyone I thought was a friend and my Ex had cheated on me and was just going on dumb tinder dates that were meaningless until I stopped even going out because why even? After high school my friends either moved away or moved on and I stayed in place. My 20's... That whole decade where you hear people having the best times of their lives was so excruciating for me and to make it worse I had no one to talk to. I didn't tell my parents about my depression or suicide attempt because I couldn't take them thinking they did something wrong to produce a worthless son who tried to kill himself and even failed at that twice. THINGS CHANGED though. I know its going to sound cringe but it's what happened. My life got better when my dog came into my life. I never had a dog take to me like Ty did(My dog's name is Ty short for Tyrion) He has shown me so much love so unconditionally and I have experienced so much joy just because he is so attached to me. Why he became attached to me? We don't know but we are inseparable, He is a medium big dog which means he needs walks which means I had to get out of the house, which meant I probably had to interact with other humans... And I did.... And within a year our development or part of the town we live in... They all know me and they know Ty and I'm not alone. I found a part of myself I assumed was dead and I'm alive because of my dog. My relationship with my parents is the best it's ever been, people actual care about me... Our neighbors know me and even give me Christmas gifts it's insane. I thought I was too far gone, I had wasted too much of my life, I had done nothing with myself and while I'll never have my 20's back I always have right now, I will always have knowing that unconditional love is real and even though eventually Ty will pass on he will always be the reason I learned to love not just myself but love life. I've skipped a lot but this is too long as it it. I just want people to know that it is NEVER too late to change your life or find a reason to love yourself. Will it take time? Fuck yes. Will it be easy? No, but you will slowly find reasons you might have not known were there to love yourself to stick around. The world has some beautiful stories, you are one of them... I hope to hear yours. If anyone reading this wants to vent, or talk or tell me their story I'll always be here to listen feel fress to contact me. Thank you for your post and allowing me to tell my story and giving me hope for the future. It means more than you may ever know.

      @@nervrenders I had a whole paragraph written down about my life and the things I regret, but it was all randomly deleted so I'll try writing it again: Reading your story made me cry; it's very inspiring, and I'm glad you're in a better position now. In my case, I spent most of my teenage years being a burden and doing nothing but playing games, I only became an excellent student on my last two years of highschool but for all the wrong reasons (seeking validation from people and expecting them to praise me), I didn't go into college right away cause I graduated in 2020 and COVID didn't allow me to study in US like I wanted to, spent every single fucking day after graduation just playing online games instead of studying, I don't even know how to fucking drive, the online friends who helped me get through depression and helped me accept myself as who I am turned on me and made up false accusations, spent half of 2021 doing nothing and the other half trying to do something but just failing to commit, trying to change in 2022 but it's the same fucking thing again. I'm turning 20 this march 2nd and I don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to do with my life. I'm afraid the years will pass and I'll be as useless as ever. I'm afraid I'll end up like my brother who, although graduated in civil engineering, is working at a bakery earning minimal wage. Hell, I'm afraid time is just gonna pass, I'll become older, and everyone will leave me behind while I still try to figure out my life... I don't know what the fuck to do and procrastinating is hard to get over...

    I'm 26 right now and hit "reboot" on my life at 24. I had 2 choices, complain about my bad decisions and dwindling health, or take a step back and think about what I *really* want to do. Now I've moved back home, paid all my debts, and started writing my novel. I also started learning all the subjects I wanted to take in school but was afraid because they were for "smart people", namely programming, filmmaking, graphic design, and math. I've lost 88 pounds doing simple exercises and eating low carb, and got rid of my t2 diabetes that I inherited from a decade of ramen, pizza, and video games.
    I have no idea where I'll end up doing all this, but I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'd rather have a low paying career doing what I want and be happy, than go back to my old life and bury myself in depression.

All of those negative feelings forced me to shine a difficult light on myself and really work out what makes me tick. Nobody could tell me how to be me, not even my parents or people who cared about me. That's why everyone gave me the vanilla go to school / get a job and family story. It takes real work to come to a self understanding. Work I had to do myself. Work I had to do alone. And now that it's with me, looking back on that misery. It was a stepping stone to give me the spiritual happiness I have now.

    I'm 65 and this is what I think I figured out:
    Every experience you had in the past got to where you are today....
    Go back and change what? Different doesn't mean better just different
    but
    you still have lessons to learn that only experience can give you!
    Taking an "L" doesn't mean necessarily mean "loss" but can mean "lesson" ...
    From where I'm standing from your introspection and self-awareness, you're doing just fine! :-)
    (Edit)
    One last thing:
    Growth is a constant process of refinement; you're not the same person you were and not the person you're going to be!
    The late, great Muhammad Ali said something along the lines of:
    "If you're the same person at 40 that you were at 20, you wasted 20 years of your life"

For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Matthew 7:13-14).But you can make your own interpretation of the specific quotes from the Bible. Honestly this was so comforting to watch, I've just graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Science after grinding my ass off just to feel a sense of accomplishment - To then realise there are no more "next steps" lined up for me. Everything from now on is my choice, and based off my own perception of what the next best steps are i.e. promotions, certifications, etc like you mentioned. I didn't get a graduation ceremony this year due to Covid, so I've barely had a chance to celebrate with my mates, and I went straight into a job 2 weeks after my exams finished, yikes
    I have a good future lined up ahead of me - Good job, solid network, conference talks, etc, but I can't help but feel like I'll continue doing all these career boosting activities, just to sit at a computer 24/7, and only be happy when I get to jet off on holiday once a year and stragetically plan 500 activities into 1 week. It's a bitter sweet privilege, majority of people in the tech industry are VERY well-off, and probably won't struggle to find work/good pay. But my god I've only just graduated, and already feel the need to fuck off to a mountain in Norway with all my mates lol - pls tell me I'm not the only one feeling this way?

I juggle several hobbies like art and music and i still have no idea what i want to do with my life. I'm "only" 23 and already feel like i haven't had the slightest idea of what I'm even doing for the last several years. Education put me on rails so i did what i was supposed to, but now that I'm "free" to choose what i want to do, the usual progression of entering the workforce (whether in a job related to my degree or not) seems bland and unappealing.

    • @ramboracoon

      @AutoCAD Monster You've hit the nail on the head here!
      The book "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck" drills into the concept that life never stops giving you problems, "True happiness occurs only when you find the problems you enjoy having and enjoy solving. It's a constant work-in-progress. The solutions to today's problems will lay the foundation for tomorrow's problems." Makes sense right?
      Guess the only way I can explore "problems I enjoy" is by trying a bit of everything? Like you said, passive income could lead to more free time, allowing those problems to be explored more rapidly. But if I want to climb the ladder to gain financial security ASAP, surely I should be focused on 1 field?
      Mind you, focusing on 1 field for the next 10 years straight (i.e. web development) sounds pretty mundane the more I think about it lol

    • @jin394
      @jin394 4 года назад +2

      I graduated 1.5 years ago in EE. I live with a roommate so I'm able to save about half my income and honestly, while I am still enjoying my job, I have definitely given thought to what it would be like to take my savings, quit my job for a couple months/up to a whole year, and just do whatever the hell I feel like doing. Travel/more time building hobby electronics/volunteer/other experiences. I know I'm privileged to be able to even seriously thinking about that and I'd want to beef up my resume before so that i wouldn't have a problem finding a job coming back. The bigger problem is being able to find someone who could do it with me or if I would just do it alone.
      Most likely I won't do that, but I think it helps prove a point that we can't wait for retirement and no work periods to live our lives. Take the vacation time you are given. Do stuff you enjoy on the weekends and weeknights. Find ways to work less if need be. Make life enjoyable right now. Unlike some youtube hustlers, our every minute awake does not need to be geared towards making more money.

    • @jin394
      @jin394 4 года назад +1

      AutoCAD Monster I agree the taking months off to travel is an idealist view which is why I say it’s unlikely I would do it, even if I have the savings for it (I would definitely not go into debt for it).
      I watch a lot of FIRE youtubers and other finance ppl like Graham Stephan who are all about the grind while you’re young and enjoy it later but truth is? For a lot of people the later is waaaay off into the future. You can grind, but I think it’s important to also enjoy the here and now. It’s why I say do things on the weekends and weeknights that you enjoy. Obviously know what you can afford. One of the things I like to do is taking hikes and other than the little bit of gas cost to drive somewhere, that’s free. And I can travel a couple times a year and still save a lot of money on my current income but I know I’m privileged to say that. I’d rather have a life of good memories than just grinding at work.
      “You are just carrying out takes they would’ve done better themselves.” Absolutely not true. As an engineer I can confidently say that most ppl above me could not do what I do, and that’s the privilege of working as a specialized profession, and I still have a lot to learn before I’m truly an expert.
      Yes I’d love Financial independence. But to me, it’s important to realize that I’ve already reached a lot of that. Yes I have to put hours into a job where I’m not my own boss but I enjoy that job, I have time for my hobbies and family, and if I were to stop enjoying my job/were fired I have plenty of fallback and could take my time looking for another job I DO enjoy.

    Love this so much, and related to it on too many levels even though I'm just 21. I'm about to start my final semester of college, and I'm honestly only still there because 1. it's a great school and 2. my parents want me to finish like it's their life goal. In that sense, I'm doing it for them but I promised myself when I do finally finish in May I'm going to go fulltime on youtube and my other online businesses for a year to prove I can find lasting success there. I've done decent so far but I haven't been able to just focus, I let other things get in the way and people scare me into taking the safe route. Covid and living in the northeast doesn't help, it's dark by 4pm right now and there's nothing to do - my motivation and hope is at a low.
    Well I wanna come back to this video in a year and hopefully I've hit 1 million subs, have moved out with my girlfriend, and can say I'm honestly a happier person than I am now because I feel free and am doing things I wanna do - here's hoping and a lot of hardwork!

    Our minds are taught to follow a system set by the government for the first 18 years of our life. the ones that are strong enough to rely on themselves and see past the system succeed. College is the official trap. You will waste so much time and money, you will also most likely limit yourself to what you studied because that’s what you spent most of your time and money on. If your reading this, be better everyday. Figure it out yourself and understand that the most knowledgeable people are the ones that go through experiences!! mistakes only make you smarter so don’t be afraid to fail. I'll be 29 in a few weeks. I've spent most of my adult life depressed and suicidal, scrambling for money and trying to find happiness in the wrong things and people. I basically flunked out of high school and had no plans for college. I lived most of my days with the fallback of "well, if things get too bad, I'll just tap out of life." I got a tattoo earlier this year that says "try anyway" and it's finally convinced me to never kill myself. I've never had a girlfriend or a very stable job. I usually got fired within the first year for being honest or getting taken advantage of by people in higher positions that didn't like me. I'm social and fun to be around, but I have self-esteem issues that prevent me from being vulnerable enough with people to allow them in my life, and I run out of energy quickly. Thankfully I've filled my free time with playing piano and reading instead of video games. I just got a supervisor position at a new job, and I'm hoping to keep it long enough to finally get me out of this hole of poverty and into real life.
    But you know what? I found and still find happiness in little things. I developed a great sense of humor and outlook that lets me laugh at things and keep my depression at bay. I learned to love myself sincerely, regardless of other people's false opinions of me. I'm learning to be vulnerable, especially with women. This part of my life just feels like learning the controls of a new game, and I'm confident that once I actually start playing, I'll get really good at it. I just need to leave practice mode and stop overanalyzing my part in it. I wish all of you nothing but the best happiness and love that life has to offer. If I had to offer any advice to anyone: find yourself. You're in there and you're more valuable than words can describe. I believe in you, even if you don't believe in yourself all the time.

      Here is something that isn't risky that you could do.[ Practice mindful meditation ] :o
      (explanation)At the end of the day all that matters is what you remember, to make use of memory you must develop awareness! You need to be able to look in detail like a detective finding that which you enjoy & that which adds meaning to your existence and expanding on it.
      / No one remembers a blurry picture so it's no surprise you feel like so much time has been wasted. Habits whether good or bad is always you on auto-pilot mode. Which is a mode that doesn't require much input(like your attention or effort) it happens subconsciously.
      (my own example) I honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed food but I eat a lot, I JUST ATE. It wasn't bad but its like background noise, I wasn't really aware while I was watching this video and now in the future even if it was great food I won't remember nor care. But i'll be the first to complain about my weight :/ so obviously my priorities are screwed and being self aware of my overall situation just isn't enough... I have to in real time watch my actions and re-adjust my undesired behaviors. Like chewing more and not distracting myself, i'll eat less and if I track how much I should be eating a day I can change my life drastically cause we eat everyday. Having no plan means your just letting the world choose for you, cause something always happens.
      so we must take our lives into our own hands.. :O

    • @gokusamir
      @gokusamir 5 лет назад

      @@thoughtfulluis6202 that's some great advice. My problem is that I've become more of a passive person. I'm letting things just happen without having a plan or being an active person. This caused a lot of problems like watching a lot of series because I don't have to interact. It's like I'm taking on the observer role up to the point that I even have trouble forming my own opinion during a social conversation. (Also, I can relate to the food thing so much.)
      I feel like it's a weird form of laziness. I don't think I'm depressed or anything since I can still have enjoyment. But there's a huge wall I can't seem to overcome when it's about becoming more of a productive person. I've seen so many videos and listened to so many podcasts about productivity and following your goals and so on, and all of them do have really great information. Yet even after consuming all that I seem to lack the applying part of that information. I've listened to the advices sometimes but it never really sticks. It usually ends up being a one time thing. It's like you said, I'm completely stuck in a bad habit autopilot mode. I've failed switching that around and my biggest fear is that I'll be stuck in this mode till I'm a grandpa.
      Your advice seems doable so I'll do that as a start. Sorry for my backstory tl;Dr ;p

    • @thoughtfulluis6202
      @thoughtfulluis6202 5 лет назад

      @@gokusamir "Weird form of laziness", as far as I can tell from my own similar experience is that we are not lazy as there's probably been a few rare occasions where we have went above and beyond even when not necessary. It's more that whatever could make us move isn't currently in our lives. Motivation is the spark but we need the fuel to keep the flame alive. I believe my "flame" is intimacy as it is something I lack from an early age till this date. Yet at the end of the day that's just the parameter I need to obtain(such is my belief) to allow myself to do what I always could. Though true to some extent as in, I can't help myself get out of a self created issue while still creating it. But if someone outside of me could persuade me then its possible... Words have minimal effect, only visible results can change my mindset.
      Idk it's either that or develop a will strong enough to break free from any mental constraints.
      No need to apologize :3 Been there done that/Still there doing that... 3:

    Great video. I'm 27 going on 28 in a few months, and all i've really done with my life is try to "level up" with every job i've held, while leveling up in whatever RPG I could get my hands on to feel productive. I myself have been feeling a strong disconnect with myself, wondering if I want to continue working for these corporations. I've recently decided to go off the grid and work for myself. I may fail miserably, but do I really want to die without at least trying?
    I've also seen the drones at these jobs, especially my last one. Seeing my ex coworkers boil their life down to "this is just how it is being an adult",and continuing to not only complain, but slog through the crap the job threw at them, sickened me. If that's what being an adult is, they can keep that. We can be well off and be at peace with ourselves.

      @@Arander92 Mostly this new generation dream of being YT or Instagram stars, which is a little bad from my point of view, yes they can have another life outside of social media, graduate w/e collage/university, become a researcher for example, tech giant entrepreneur or w/e but social media is a flawed piece in the machinery...now you're top, then you're not and there goes your money your fame, your house perhaps, because some pay bills with money from social media, your friends your everything, and they will start to behave like a 3yo crying for their stolen lolly. Do you see my point?
      I'm no saying they can't have a double life and do well on all planes...but....there's a difference between life experiences with people you love and cherish and being around here gathering followers/subscribers ultimately money.... with no grand vision to spend them on, no actual real people to connect with and do something together as a whole, in unity. So yeah...it won't really make the cut...if you draw the line on everything that this might cost you. A little risky but if you manage it, congrats mate, you've done it, will all planes intact :D but you know how life is :)

    As a teenager this was certainly a wake-up call for me and I greatly appreciate you (and the algorithm) for this video.
    I've pretty much wasted my childhood and thrown away any previous opportunity given to me to become something special, and practically every day prior to this was a repititive slog and I've felt as though I've always been doing the bare minimum. I've never really excelled or been "good" at anything either, no talents, just another grey rock on the mountain.
    From this day on I'll start working out my regrets, improve my social life, and train a crap ton of skills to try to put some meaning and purpose into my life. At the very least, one thing I certainly ought to feel lucky for is to come to this realization this early on.
    We're all going to make it bros.
