You can remove your units to place them where you want by pressing the unit on the list for 5 seconds if that unit has spare troops.

I usually do that when structures are too far away unless that unit has the speed of "fastest"

@AntiCivil042 I also do that when medics or paladins go in the wrong direction and avoid them abandoning the main force.
