A good video, and the stuff said here is generally true. There are numerous claims that aren't specifically true however. Lots of Naqshabandis engage in loud zikr for example, even with musical dhaff instruments. The Naqshabandi Order also places great emphasis on following a single living Shaykh, and the Shaykh decides according to circumstances whether to engage in loud or silent zikr. If loud zikr begins to serve ones own pride and ego, then the Shaykh commands silent zikr. If the silent zikr serves pride and ego, then loud zikr is practiced. The key is to combat the ego and different cultures express pride and arrogance either loudly or silently, and the form of zikr is to counter that.
There are 41 Sufi Orders, with 40 stemming from Ali and one from Abu Bakr. The Naqshabandis recognise this and generally do not really consider themselves any more orthodox than other orders. What they are highly critical of however, are people who ONLY embrace sufi practices while neglecting Shariah, like people who like sufi music and song or poetry, but do not pray 5 times daily like how Islamic shariah law stipulates. This is because it amounts to another ego-serving pursuit of picking the parts of Islam one likes and neglecting and ignoring other essential and often more important parts.

Aghrr the ego! After years of doing the work as honestly and earnestly as i could (although at times i was very lazy), I would now say that there are no specific rules, be it loud or silent dhikr, because "one technique would supposedly tease the ego", which is what we want to watch in ourselves. If all roads lead to Rome, likewise all techniques lead to God and it really does not matter if a person has a big ego, or enjoys the sound of his/her own voice or likes to show off, because it is important to experience the ego and recognise it in order to reach self-knowledge and the divine qualities as well as realise the ultimate, ie. 'there is no other God but God' (La ilaha illallah), which is tantamount to saying that All that Is is God. In my personal experience, it takes a long time to understand all the tricks of one's ego and arrogance, and the essential ingredient is sincerity, courage and honesty with oneself to look at one's shadow self. Rules are always a frame supposed to have a deeper meaning, but they can also be a distraction from the goal because focusing too much on the form can stop the flow and experience with God. This is why I cannot and could not adhere to the Naqshbandi tariqa or other similar turuq.

    • @ahmyk9190

@@latifa1310 interesting take, what tariqa do you adhere to now?

    • @latifa1310
      @latifa1310 2 года назад +7

@@ahmyk9190 I do not adhere to a tariqa anymore but used to follow a Mevlevi tariqa which I left because it no longer resonated due to the dysfunctionality of its people who I feel did/do not understand the true meaning of Service to others ('Khidma'). However I will always be grateful to all the spiritual gifts and experiences I received and to the inner beauty I saw in most of its people even though many of them were dysfunctional. I liked the fact that men and women are mixed, but that's personal to me and I respect women who prefer their own intimacy together with other women only. I visited some other tariqat but they resonated even less with me. I do not have a sheikh or sheikha but I met a true sheikh who does not call himself a sheikh. We all need a sheikh to start with and the different styles of Shuyukh correspond to the multiple types of personalities. But at some point we understand that everybody is our sheikh in that everybody is a messenger of God and is a reflection of our self and a mirror, as such if we are truly honest with ourselves, we know what we need to work on. I learned to be very attentive to the messages I hear or see because within these, there is a lesson for me or some gift from God. When I need help with something specific, I ask God and the answer comes either in a dream, as a thought (inner message) or through someone, or a video, etc...God is my ultimate guide and his path is my tariqa...a rocky path but worth it.

The subject has been much sidelined from mainstream Islam in later centuries. It was a mainstream Islam in the spiritual revival in the middle ages. In fact almost all Islamic scholars and ulema were Sufis then. But as the nation states were formed, their role was sidelined by the fuqaha ulemas who serve the state. Modern secular education sideline the Sufis further and thus knowledge on Sufism becomes more rare. It now becomes exotic since a lot of people are seekers for inner self, after they are illusioned with the modern way of life. Majority of Muslims have very little awareness on the subject.

It used to be the norm for a learned Sunni to follow one school of Kelam, one school of Fiqh and one School of Tasawwuf/Sufizm. For example, many Ottoman Sultans chose to be Maturidi in Kelam, Hanafi in Fiqh and Naqshbandi in Tasawwuf. The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is actually a follower of the Naqshbandi Tariqa, and obviously also Hanafi and Maturidi as his "Ottoman forefathers". I am from Albania, a country where Islam cam through the Ottomans and it was quite common, that alongside the standard Hanafi+Maturidi combination of the Empire, to choose whatever Sufi Tariqa one would prefer (Riffai, Naqshbandi, Halwati etc)
However, one Tariqa, the Bektashi Tariqa is a special one, as it is seen as a separate religion. They describe themselves as Twelver Alevite Shiites. They don't consider the five daily prayers to be obligatory, they cosider alcohol or pork t5 be permissibe, but they consider rabbit to be forbidden. Men and women worship together and their clerics (Dervishes, Baba, Dede or Kryegjysh) remain celibate. They do go in Hajj and many of them hold proudly the title Hajji, but their main pilgrimage is one done at the Tomorri Mountain (probably an old holy site of the pre-christian pagan religion of Albania and Illyria) which Bektashis believe to be the place where Abbas Ali fled to by miracle during the Battle of Karbala.
I highly suggest you discover the Bektashi. There's many documentaries and material in Albanian which I am willing to translate for you, if you are interested.

@@testtester6520 Aleikum Selam brother. I don't know much about him to be honest. But just because he is Albanian it doesn't mean I would have a good opinion about him. All I know is that I don't like that kind of Ahl Al-Hadith Salafi attitude towards Islam. It's as if the Qur'an is not enough for these people and it's the hadith that will "complete" it - we just have to find the ones with "sahih" chains. This has made the hadith collections a form of "The Gospel according to Bukhari" or "The Gospel according to Muslim".
The Maliki Madhhab is the number one enemy for Ahl Al Hadith, because Imam Malik, in his Muwatta narrated hadiths with Sahih chains but he refused to act upon them because the living Sunnah passed by practice was more important to him than narrations passed by word of mouth.
Anyway, Al Albani has given his contribution, so may Allah reward him. I may disagree with many of his teachings and beliefs but I don't strip people off of their merit.

These are Bektashi masters and Alp-erens that spread islam in Balkans which taught tolerance and love instead of fear and religious bigotry. Many Christians converted seeing their love and peace. Their path is to be cherished rather critized. Hunkar Hadji Bektash Veli (k.s.) is a true friend of the God. Naqshbandis were not widespread in Anatolia and Balkans until the 19th century (the great Janissary masssacre). Competing Naqshbandi sects fought in different parts of China, mostly in Ningxia, Gangsu and Qinqai, home to Hui (ethnically Chinese) Muslims. There were actually several wars between two rival Naqshbandi factions, the Khafiyya (Silent ones because their dhikr was silent) and the Jahriyya (who did dhikr out loud). These wars, known as the Dungan Revolts, actually killed several hundreds of thousands of Muslims. And during one of these wars, the ruler of Xingjiang actually declared a jihad against Hui Muslims and invaded other regions of China.

Open your heart and let in the zikr of ALLAH swt and watch the body enter into a state of ecstasy. Then try holding back your limbs and let people see that you seem crazy due to this. The emotion of trance is subjective and who knows who experienced it outwardly and inwardly? Islam isn’t just what is on paper by ink, there is a dimension beyond that. Because one hasn’t experienced that, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Open your heart and taste it for yourself.

I am a mureed of Sheikh Zulfiqar Ahmad DB of the Naqshbandi mujjadidi order and I have read some "maktoobat" of Sheikh Ahmed Sirhindi R.H and I was actually impressed by your knowledge about his teachings. His son Sheikh Masoom R.H also followed on his path and said that the Sufi who resort of the unlawful of the Shariah are actually trying to fill a void created by the lack of "ecstasy" in zikr after reaching a certain "maqam" and not realizing that no healing can be obtained from haram acts eg: dancing, singing etc. The cure to all of this is an early correction in the "niyyah" that abidance to Shariah is paramount and all other things come secondarily as a part of Allah's rehmat and all secondary things do not collectively amount to even a single ruling of the Shariah. As our Sheikh Zulfiqar says: "Become Abdul Lateef, not Abdul Lutf"

No one can understand the Sufi's. Only the master can show you a path, your path. There are secrets behind secrets and this is not open for every one. Only if your spiritual heart is shaped then doors will open. What you will see is beyond your imagination. Menkind is thinking that this is the life but it is not. The Sufi's will prepare you for the path. The true path will be the path to the Lord of the worlds. For the Ones that speaks as "We" are the Guardians of life and even the Sufi's are bounded to them. Nothing is escaping from their Eyes. This spiritual path has an endless ocean. Menkind will never understand this. The problem that menkind has is that they always thinks and talk to much.

Other Mongol leaders owed their conversion to Islam due to the influence of a Muslim wife. I'm a Nakşibandi member and I have to correct you in terms of what Sufi's believe! You said in the beginning that not all Sufi's believe in the same thing's!
That's only correct in terms of the tariqah(path)!
But in terms what all Sufi Orders believe in and there is no acception(as long the tariqah is Haqq/righteous and accepted under Sufi Orders) is the doctrine of Islam!
A Sufi Order that wouldn't believe in the Doctrine of Islam like the believes from the Ahlul Sunna wal djamah wouldn't be seen as Haqq(rightgous) and wouldn't accepted as a Order!
I heard that Sufism existed before Islam but after the prophecy of Islam Sufis became muslim and stayed in Islam until today! But it is a bit unclear to me how Sufism was before Islam?!
And Dhikr isn't only a Sufi thing! Dhikr is mentioned in the Qur'an many times and more a Islamic practice of rememberence to Allah(swt) by recitation of the names of Allah(swt) continuously!

Ahmad al-Fārūqī al-Sirhindī (1564-1624) was an Indian Islamic scholar, Hanafi jurist, and member of the Naqshbandī Sufi order. He has been described by some followers as a Mujaddid, meaning a “reviver", for his work in rejuvenating Islam and opposing the newly made religion of Din-i Ilahi and other problematic opinions of Mughal emperor Akbar. While early South Asian scholarship credited him for contributing to conservative trends in Indian Islam, more recent works, notably by ter Haar, Friedman, and Buehler, have pointed to Sirhindi's significant contributions to Sufi epistemology and practices.

The main problem with such tariqa and very much with naqshibandiyya (at least with their particular branches in Turkey) is that they are in violation of a very core concept of Islam, namely tawhid.
Tariqa in general didn't exist in the time of the Prophet and is very much an innovation which is a no-no in Islam. Islam is static and anything that is added is not of Islam.
