I got a new one in 1983. I was 14 at the time. Absolutely loved it. I lived in a smaller city and it got me all over town for a dollars worth of gas. Wished I still had it.
New owner (Hybrid 2023) and dumping a load ($) into the truck thanks to your suggestions! Best vid I've seen - clear, linked, and to the point. Loved it!
I think you should start the adventure build. I purchased my 21’ V8 for the sole purpose of daily use and now I’m graduating to mild off-roading and overlanding. I’m around 30 mods to your 45 mainly from watching your videos, and my own as close to factory looking mod style. I have my Ryker 3 wheeler, Jet ski, and E-bikes that I use for adventure and next up is overlanding as I mentioned before. Thanks for all the insight and content. I’m ready to start the next adventure. Let’s go!
I really appreciate all the practical upgrades. Very well thought out build. I’m looking into a Powerboost model in the next few months and your build has given me lots of ideas!
I was stumbling across your video on my journey of understanding why pickup trucks are such a big thing in the US. Here in Germany we have mostly closed vehicles (no open bed) or much bigger trucks e.g 40t. Additionally, I think we have very few people here that would use their 'working vehicle' as their daily, thus there is very little extra comfort in commercial/construction vehicles. Interesting to see how many mods you put on there. You have a great sense for the right level of modification (not going completely over the top) and style/harmony I'd say.
Love this video. I'm currently looking into buying a Powerboost truck. Excellent job with the accessories and good choices. I don't normally find people that do the same accessories that I would choose, but you are right there with me.
Dan, great video, I really enjoyed watching. I’ve been following you for a couple of years now and remember all the issues you had to work through with this truck. I’ve owned my ‘22 PB, Lariat 502A now for 16 months and 40,000 kms. Absolutely love it and it’s been flawless. All the best and keep enjoying that beauty. Your positive video was very uplifting. Thanks!
Love that you didn’t do a light bar for additional flood lights. BUT, I’d love to see something bigger in the same location on the bumper, I think 3 yellow/amber RIGID lights (1 in each gap) would look awesome! Thinking about doing the same on my ‘22 Powerboost.
I did the amp and speakers in my 2015. it will absolutely blow you out of the truck. recommend getting the wiring kit from Pac audio. It'll helps keep the factory chimes in place. you can get the line plug adapters from pac as well so you can send the audio signal to the aftermarket amp. but I think there is a way to do it through Forscan, at least in the older models, not sure about these new ones. I did the install myself not too bad. should be super easy for you since you already did the speakers.
Good to know brother! I am still looking at a calender to see when that July Overlanding event can happen.... as I told you before a lot depends on when I can get my butt back from Montana lol.
Absolutely Amazing video Brother!!! I just ordered the OCD Screen Protector, while watching this, lol. I really love every mod that you have done and shared on here. Especially with the suspension, rims and tires. I hunt, fish, rough camp and my #1 Passion is the Outdoors & Nature. I am going to research your exact setup for Tires, rims and suspension to see if it is practical for me as well. My Truck, 2018 F150 5.0L XLT FX4 is also my Daily Driver so I don’t really want anything to gnarly. Practical for my lifestyle. Love this video and channel Brother!!! Thank You Very Much!! Hey brotha question for you! What are your thoughts on the AFE Momentum GT, I have a 23 Platinum PB BAP and absolutely love it, except a few build quality issues
Wow, I’m inspired by the amount of attention you’ve put into your rig. When you’re ready to sell it let me know!! Also, could you comment on MPG with your mods?
Thanks a bunch for the video. Just picked up a 2023 down here in Tucson. It's a platinum, a little snazzy for me, but super nice truck. Taking it to get Line-X next Thursday. Not sure if it's worth it, but I sure love it in my Jeep Gladiator. Although it is pretty grippy in the Gladiator. I saw a truck come in to the dealership in Tucson that had just been Line X'd for the dealer, and it was very slick. I wonder if Rhino is any more grippy?
You should do an exterior chrome delete with white vinyl. The truck would look 100x better. Thanks for the vid! Will definitely be picking up a lot of these mods!
Two things, would you say you still need lineX even with the bedrug? And you prefer the rolling style X4S over the sliding or flip style? Any particular reason? Thanks!!!
Looking for some honest answers from all you truck folks. I recently started looking into the F150. I’m currently driving a 2020 Toyota Camry hybrid. I love the gas mileage. I pay about $60 once or twice a week. I work in public safety and I have an hour commute to and from (53 miles one way). I have been wanting a truck for a while. I pay about $500 a month for the payment on my Camry. I was told by a Sacramento area ford dealership, the F150 (2021 21k miles) I’m looking into would run me $836 a month with an 8.9% interest rate. At the moment, I’m not hauling anything. Just everyday gear for work. Maybe looking to get a few paddle boards and a kayak. Other than that, I’m just a normal guy. Do all of you like the F150, are you okay with paying more for what you have? Just looking for some general feedback. Thanks in advance.
... my timing was good for a change. Back in April this year '24, I bought a new, remaining 2023 F150 STX 2.7. (I"ve had an F250 diesel, and 2 F150 Fx4's) This is the best truck I could want. And 325 HP ain't bad. Has the 20" wheels, so the ride is super. AND, quiet ride big time. I get about 19mpg in town, 24mpg hwy. I got 1.9% Ford financing, and since it was the last of the supercrews, Race Red, I made out real well. $736 month for 72 mos. I was upside down a tad from my '22 Timberline. Jmo. Good luck my friend.
Short answer - yes. Longer answer - I moved over from a Gladiator to a 23 F150 Powerboost (before that it was a Honda Civic... life comes at you pretty fast. Lol). I will never go back to a sedan again if I can at all avoid it. The comfort level, power, and flexibility of a truck (full or midsize) is just better. Or, I should say, better for me. I don't even have a work case as I work a desk job but I really like long road trips and getting out off the beaten path. Not a rock crawler, but certainly out there. All that being said, it's more expensive all around. Truck prices are insane and gas will cost more. On my powerboost I average about 20mpg (I have some upgrades that impact mpg). For gas, I'm at about $100 2 times a month or so. Given that you are in your car more in a longer commute you will use more gas but the ride will be more enjoyable. Without knowing you or your life situation and all things being equal, do it if you can afford it.
@@philgordon8562 hey man I really appreciate your comment. Four days ago, I went to a ford dealership here in the Sacramento area. I ended up getting a new 2023 F150 XLT Hybrid Powerboost. I’m paying $204 more in a car payment and about $40 more in insurance. For gas, it’s about an additional $75-$90. I definitely feel more comfortable going to and from work. I also like that you can “customize” way more accessories on an F150 than I originally thought possible. I read your comment and it definitely helped with my decision. Much appreciated.
How difficult and technical was it changing the intercooler and valve? Is there any improvement to be expected with turbo lag? I have a ‘17 Lariat and the lag drives me crazy.
It's not horrible, however you have to remove the baffles around the active shutters. As well as you will have to relocate the speaker, or remove it completely. It was a little bit of a struggle getting the intercooler into position because it's a little bit tight, more so just laying on your back is a bit heavy and precarious to lift into position lift into position.
Great Vid! I just bought a 23 Tremor & I couldn’t agree more on the B.O system not nearly putting out its potential… how did the replacement speakers change it? Have you changed or added an amp? I don’t want to do very much but for an 18 speaker system it is not much different than my previous 16 platinums stock upgraded System. Any info would be helpful. 👍🏻
Great video on upgrades !!!! i have same hybrid powerboost in a Platinum. The suspension upgrade I used the Falcon Sport / Tow Haul shock leveling system. Then I came back behind them with Ready Air Load Leveling Air Bag Kit for a 24' boat i have the combination is great. I was curious on your Backup ding / spaceship removal . How hard was it just unplug? And did it give you some kind of error in truck on startup. Thanks keep it up David
Great video. One question. Is there anyway you could go through the process of removing the pedestrian sounder speaker? I see A LOT of f150 owners complaining about this sound, me being one of them. I have a Limited powerboost and for the amount of money it cost, I would hope that it would be Completely silent, but alas, it is not.... because of this speaker. I see the one sliver colored crossmember is moved out of the way on one end. Is that the only thing that has to be moved? Also, did you get any codes come up after removing the sounder speaker?
Keep it the way it is, i just got an 18 after having a 16 4runner setup for overlanding, rtt, fridge, stove, 4” lift 34” tires, i will never build another one i camp 8-9 times per year and it wasnt worth driving a purpose bilt truck daily. Your truck looks great the way it is. Keep it that way.
Been considering an F150 for the increased space and comfort. Toyota Tacoma’s have been my main Offroad truck of choice. I purchased a 2017 taco and it has been nothing but a headache compared to my past trucks. Many of the mods you’ve done are similar to what I have made with my trucks. Great info. Compared to the 5.0-V8 why did you go with the V6?
Do you still have the swing cases on your truck? If so could you do me a huge favor and measure between them when they are in the locked position? I have a 2023 f150 and I haul a large atv in the bed but I want to keep the boxes on while I haul it but I need 48 inches between them and no one can tell me that measurement so I’m not sure if I want to buy them without that info.
Great video, and the links are super helpful. Just bought a 2022 Powerboost last week. Sadly 24 hours later it went to the shop for a faulty airbag controller. It’s been there for a week. Hoping it’s just a one-off situation. Traded my 2017 F150 in for it and that thing was faultless for 130,000 miles.
Awesome video bro, just subd. Those tires look bigger than I thought they would for a 33. Looked them up and their inflated diameter is 33.19”. Did you have any figment issues? I’m starting to worry now about the 34.29” tires I just ordered on my 18” +20 offset wheels
I put in 275/65R20 Maxxis Razor ATs at 34.2 inches on stock 2022 F150 and they fit with over a half inch to spare at full turn. No rubbing even while off roading. Fronts won't work with true winter chains though.
I’ve been watching your vids for a little while now, and I have one quick question, did any of these mods void your trucks warranty? I got a 2023 f-150 Lariat powerboost and been wanting to do some of these mods my self but might have to wait depending on if it does or not
No mods themselves void the entire warranty. The only thing that can happen is if something breaks and the mod you did caused the issue, they can void that one specific component. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects you from manufacturers saying a modification voids your entire warranty.
Not sure where you see that but I cross verified with the Bilstein website and it says they fit, I also did it lol. I think some website just say fitment with things aren’t verified with the PowerBoost because of all the high voltage wiring that runs through the vehicle. Seems more like a liability thing than fitment thing to me. There is a bit of a weight difference but only sprung weight and it’s minimal IMHO. I will say the 6112’s up front definitely have more weight on them because I had to up them 1 level to get the same lift as non PowerBoost trucks and it was a PITA to get the passenger side done around the high voltage. Nothing a little stubborn blood sweat blood can’t figure out though.
The F150 often gets knocks for its driver comfort compared to the Ram 1500. Not asking for a comparison but what’s your opinion on the ford on long drives - 500 Plus miles?
Damn I wish I covered that mod. I actually pulled the driver seat back off and added some foam to the lumbar area because I felt it lacked a little support. I have a bad lower back in general so I’m pretty sensitive to bad seating. It wasn’t bad from factory but it definitely needed a little attention.
@@GearsGadgets you should have included links to your videos where you filmed the mods. Drive more traffic to those videos. Fan of the channel, and have been a sub for a long time now.
how did you mount the HXB LEDs to the bumper, did you just drill into the bottom of bumper and use the bracket to install? Or did you mount them to the plastic grill portion?
@@GearsGadgets Im going to install theses as well, but have the 5.0, so that bottom plastic is different. did you drill to the bottom of the grill? if so how did you attach there, can you share an image of that close up?

Awesome truck! I’m in the process of buying a 21 powerboost. Can you please update the BOV link I’m very interested in getting that!
Sorry I messed that link up, I just updated it in the description but to save you some time...... bit.ly/3pnP454
I’m curious, What MPG are you currently doing? Is it better than the stock model?
Keep the steps down in a parking lot to avoid door dings.
Oh that’s great advice.
My last truck had Ridge Grapplers, they suck hard in the rain, they won't be on the new one.
who did your lighting on your truck ?
I use a horse stall mat. Works great nothing slides.
That's a good idea
Rhino liner 👍
Horse stall Matt wouldn’t work boss, just letting you know .
Those are great
@@flamingdragon86 Sorry brother but they work great been using them for years.
I looked at those Bilstein shocks and they're saying those Reservoir in the back are not rated for the power boost
Nothing a little stubborn blood sweat blood can’t figure out though.
im copying it all

How much did your mpg change
My 5.0 went from about 18 to 15 without the front fixed air thing. I removed it for a plow. It's quite a bit of difference.
What size were your stock wheels?
what width are your rims?
How is the ride with the Bilsteins?
I mounted them to the plastic shroud and they are solid.
@@GearsGadgets Im going to install theses as well, but have the 5.0, so that bottom plastic is different. did you drill to the bottom of the grill? if so how did you attach there, can you share an image of that close up?
