Yewww thank you so much legend!! Honestly bro, the surfboard you ride plays a big part. Obviously lower volume = deeper duck dives but also knowing when to use your foot or knee is important too. Using your foot you can go way deeper so I only do that for bigger sets then I’ll pull the nose up so I project up towards the surface
im so jealous, I dislocated my knee when surfing last week, cant surf for 3 months now, so pissed cause i was just starting to get more confident surfing bigger wave above 6ft

the run to the waves is how you know your frothing 😂😂 what makes the board your riding your air board and, im guessing, your other board a carving board? Also orange :)
Hahaha you know it! That’s a great question. If you look at my QUIVER video you can see from the outline of the boards how different they are. My blue wavy board is shorter, wider and thicker + epoxy so it’s really good for airs but it lacks in carves/cutties because of that. So a standard shortboard that is narrow, longer and thinner will be so much better when putting it on rail. Will also have more rocker so you’ll fit in the pocket without catching a rail/nose. I’m doing some board reviews soon and I’ll talk about all this stuff!! Super excited to share it with you guys 💎

In your case, the best thing I recommend to all my students is to go on the internet and search “surfboard volume calculator”… you’ll put your height, weight, ability and stuff into it then it recommends the right length and volume of board + overall dimensions for you. The best website I’ve seen is the JS industries surfboard volume calculator 🤙🏽
