for choco mountain, the boulders do still work and will cause to be hit. just when standing still or driving very low speed the game is programmed to not count it as a hit to allow the player to escape the obstacle instead of being hit multiple times to the point getting frustrating
Smart game design going unseen even after hundreds of hours in the game because I never before had a reason to slowly drive into things, haha
11:53 the mariokart tour t ramp is there because if people take the second glider ramp, they wouldn’t easily know where to go after that. Try it out, I had to point it out for Mayro as well.
the thing with choco mountain is because you weren't moving. 8D obstacles do NOTHING if you aren't moving fast enough. 13:10
Wild to have hundreds upon hundreds of hours in a Mario Kart game and still learn something new. Evidently I never slowly explored tracks before!
@@WadeSilver Yea. It's something to help those who are in last to not get repeatedly mario karted like was possible in tracks like, say, the original kalamari desert or moonview highway. its an addition they added to 8D. it's jank looking, but certainly better for actually playing if you're behind.
I like how some of the booster course pack allows you to drive backwards through the track on later laps. Thats actually something ive wanted in mario kart for a while: a reverse mode. As in, dump mirror mode and just let players play the tracks in reverse. (Sorry, not a fan of mirror mode)
Also shoutout to gba snow land. I love that track
I personally like Mirror Mode more than the average person, but I do think they should consider Reverse Mode for the next game since it’s been so well-received in Tour and 8 Deluxe. Plus, then they don’t have to include it in the normal version of the tracks for my sake ;)
We interrupt Wade Silver to bring you Nathaniel Bandy!
Awesome video! Yep I agree that the graphics doens't really matter much, I'm just happy to finally be able to play more courses
God the editing in your videos and the script are both so snappy, it's always a joy whenever I see them pop up. Totally agree though, I am hoping that a lot more effort is going into a new version of Mario Kart.
(Also, "Sex doesn't need a sequel?" Damn straight. DD is still my favourite.)
*The Choco mountain boulders don't hit you *
Didn't know about that! I got constantly pushed by those
You are very underrated youtuber
Some idiots hate the dlc as a whole just because it’s graphics aren’t photo-realistic and that it has Tour tracks.
Your joke about why Double Dash tracks never get remade is on POINT
It's gonna get remade in Wave 4
@@RuRyRyRyan AND it got remade, with Waluigi Stadium in Wave 4, Daisy Cruiser in Wave 5, and DK Mountain in Wave 6
What the... I've gotten smacked upside the head by choco mountain boulders before...
Evidently the game has a system that disables certain obstacles if you're at low enough speeds, which I was in the testing clips. Hundreds and hundreds of hours in the game and yet I never knew because I'd never explored slowly like I did for this video before lol
You feel like a second Scott the Woz
Unpopular Opinion: I never really cared for Sky Garden and enjoy it more in the Booster Pass.
another excellent video
also I like what you did to your hair 👌
I get the argument that less polished tracks means they can work harder on the new game, but personally, I would've preferred a handful of really clean looking, fun-to-play tracks over lots and lots of unpolished ones ported from Tour. I'm also a little hesitant to say lower quality content is acceptable as long as we get better content later just because that's not really justified until the next game releases... that and I've been let down to many times with that mindset for Pokémon that I think I have actual trust issues from it lmao
Great videos as always though, keep it up 👍
Yeah, I tried to make clear that the whole “it might improve the next game” thing is kinda just me being delusional and overly optimistic lol. Mario Kart as a series has never really let me down, but a year ago I would have said that about Strikers or Wii Sports too. Something about the presentation of the Booster Course Pass makes me infer these specific feelings/goals of the team.
Oh look at that. Graphics s!m₽ above me ⬆️ 👆
Can’t enjoy tracks if they don’t look photo realistic? 🥺
“Oh gawd those tracks look so awful, how will I ever get my graphics fix?”😤
@@69lolollol not the nintendo apologist above 💀
@@deadblocko WE DONT TALK TO DADDY NINTENDO THAT WAY HES GONNA BE SO MAD
@@deadblocko you need daddy Nintendo to give you your precious tasty photo realistic graphics huh? Is daddy Nintendo not providing for his kitten?🥺
I found you while scrolling though my browse page and had to do a double take because you look so much like me haha
Nice vid
Mario Kart 8 is basically the GTA 5 of Nintendo
I just want more super Nintendo tracks, in the entire game with DLC so far we only have 3, at least double dash have 4, you can make a cup out of them
Hot take - Tour visuals are best.
I definitely think 8 beats it out, but Tour’s colors are way better. I hope we can get a combination of more vibrant colors with 8’s level of detail for the next game.
Tour has the best visuals for what mario kart needs, but 8 has the most realistic visuals, that's why the bcp tracks look "terrible" because they're unrealistic and don't fit in 8
@@MusicIsLife42069 it's not even that they look cartoony, they look like they were made in a mobile game and plonked into mario kart 8, if they were made to look cartoony on purpose they would look very different
Nope. 8's visuals are the best, like base 8/8DX is definitely not even near "gray and washed out"
@@MusicIsLife42069 8's visuals are the best even though they're the most realistic out of any Mario Kart game, like, yeah!! It's still Mario-y looking, like, they could make Tour's models into base game ones and the tracks can be vibrant without even oversaturating the track and its atmosphere so much that the characters and karts end up looking like that
14:50 Shroom Ridge and Snow Land were both ported from Mario Kart Tour. Release dates don't determine which was made first, or Star Fox 2 would be newer than Star Fox Zero. Nintendo even leaked Shroom Ridge themselves last year, and they haven't tried to cover it up anywhere.
Who cares if they’re from Tour. It’s not like that makes them worse
You sound like Scott the Woz.
I think Nintendo really wanted this game to reach the general public. I kind of see 8 deluxe as the official release and on the Wii U we got the bonus of playing it early
The shortcut ramp in Peach Gardens wasn't included in Mario Kart DS, so that's why Mario kart 8 Deluxe didn't include and replace them with monty moles that makes a trail and you can make a trick off of it
this is a great video! i agree with a lot of points but i love the lap changing gimmick. really beats any standard 3 laps around the same shape to me.
i personally see the booster pass as the classic style retros we saw in older games where there was never a ton of heavy changes. basically the 48 we had at launch were the "new" and the booster ones are the real retros. cause some ds and wii retros also had a bit of a style clash but nobody really complained because thats how it always was.
Your videos are always so good!
Wait until he hears about birdo……
“Sex doesn’t need a sequel” (referencing the gospel of Double Dash) Bruh i laughed out loud in public 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is literally the best game in the series. One of my biggest reasons is the music
I literally cant find a bad soundtrack in ghe game... untill the booster course pass (screw you mario circuit 3)
11:34 I always turn right on the first crossing so that I don't have to go on the ramp
I feel like the ramp in Kalimari Desert 2 is there because it’d be extremely awkward trying to turn onto the course if the train was at that point too especially considering it’s an obstacle now, unlike in Tour where you just truck off of it. It’s weird but I get why it’s there
4:25 he kinda sounded like Hank Hill
Nice video!
Are you Scott the woz 2
As far as I know I’m Wade Silver 1
Talk about mariokart 7
My thoughts exactly. You deserve more views.
FINALLY somebody talks about the Kalimari Desert ramp. Im so glad Im not the only person who absolutely hates it.
May I ask why we don't talk about sky garden
Absolutely not. I cannot talk about how it’s a fine track but changed so much from the original that it’s not even the same track anymore OR about how much I prefer the original version. Sorry!
@@WadeSilver what if I say please
The original and DS remake were actually good, Tour/8DX cut off half the layout and got rid of the blimp.
@@JRS06 tour has the blimp
Good: waluigi stadium, coconut mall
Bad: ninja hideaway
What’s wrong with hideaway?
Where tf are your subs? And why did it take me so long to find this account?
Awesome content!
