- This is the first of two videos about the Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto. We're of course also talking about his first wife Aino and his second wife Elissa, two women highly involved in the Aalto atelier. In the first video we're touch upon the early life of Aalto, his first commissions and not least the legendary Paimio Sanatorium.

Brilliant, as always. Thank you so much for what you do!
Lovely to hear. Thank you for watching!
Can’t wait for part 2. Hope you will talk about his designed lamps. I have A810 and love it so much.
Thanks! We're so glad you found the video interesting!
I very much liked the video and Alvars craft Finnish furniture influenced by country carpentry.
I'm going to have a wild guess that 'Hamilkar' was one of Alexander the Great's generals (I will now look it up) ..... no it was Hannibal's Dad - close ? ;) THANK YOU for the early history about Aalto, I'm an architect, but it was a fresh perspective.
Thanks a lot! We're so glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah, you're right! Seems like Hamilkar is an old Punic name originally.
Finland isn't Scandinavia.
No it isn't.
