      Don't try riding Cedar Point's Corkscrew. For some unknown reason, the belts connecting from the restraint to the seat are shorter there. I am about your size and I have ridden all kinds of old Arrows. Not comfortable, but doable. Not on Corkscrew. They couldn't make the belt buckle at all. Next day (or two days later, I don't recall) ant Michigan's Adventure - no problem riding their Corkscrew at all.

    Amen to B&M clamshells and Millennium Flyers. They’re gifts from the heavens for coaster enthusiasts. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten stapled on either, even as a bigger guy, and the airtime they give is insane.
    My worst are the Arrow OSTRs, Tennessee Tornado in particular, after having it clamp down further during the ride and having to uncomfortably hunch and force myself down into my seat to not have my shoulders crushed by the restraint. B&M vests are up there too, not because of lack of airtime for me, but because they all love digging into my collarbone making me slink into my seat to avoid it

    @theballingboi5360 2 дня назад +6

    As someone who's 6'5", RMC Ibox trains are the absolute worst, or any coaster with shin guards for that matter. Forget having bruises after a marathon, I get bruises after 1 ride, and 3 or more makes me start bleeding. It sucks because the rides are incredible, but they also feel like they're not built for people above 5'10"

    • @theballingboi5360

      @Thim22Z7 yeah the restraints make sense on something like hakugei because people in Japan are just shorter, but when the majority of your coasters are in the US, idk why they thought to make restraints that don't account for the generally larger people that will ride them.

  • @devintron1
    @devintron1 2 дня назад +5

    Surprised to see a list of comfortable restraints without Phantom’s Revenge. In addition to the lap bar being enormously comfortable, it’s also very accommodating for larger riders.
    EDIT: I almost forgot to shout out the OG Steel Phantom for one of the least comfortable. Not the train so much as the ride entering the inversions with way too much speed and really ringing your bell. It’s been 25 years and I still haven’t forgotten.
    I file Comet at Waldameer under “tough for taller riders”. I’m too tall myself to ride in a seat with my kid and basically had to manspread to fit my knees in.

    I've always hated the Premier trains. For example, Tigris. Horrible space, horrible restraints. It just bruises my thighs and leaves me not wanting to ride anything else. Intamin LSM Coasters are the best trains. VelociCoaster is my all-time favorite for its airtime and rerideability. Good ops, good stats, overall a perfect coaster.
    Also, the coaster in the thumbnail, I lived there and rode it several times. It was my first coaster as a kid. Now I'm in Florida with way better parks.

You typically can get airtime room with them since they’re at a set position, and the well padded seats causes the ride to be one of the smoothest woodies in the world. SLCs from Vekoma with the big bulky over the shoulder
    T3 - worst trains
    Rolling thunder at tropic falls.
    B&M flyers after riding FLY might be at the level of B&M with vest

      It used to be a very common model of coaster. I think there were reasons it was so common (cheap, small footprint), and some very good reasons why it's _not_ so common anymore. This particular one can be found at the Little Amerricka roadside amusement park in Marshall, Wisconsin--a surprisingly credit-rich park for its tiny size (four coasters), though the coasters there are pretty small themselves.

    13:10 speaking of overzealous ride ops, on my first visit to canadas wonderland this past summer, the ride ops were crazy rude for no reason. Denying row requests, and by some crazy work, I got stapled on leviathan AND behemoth. Thankfully I got a second ride on leviathan but god they purposely stapled me I swear

    I'm a baby thoosie, so so far for me, the worst I've had were the RMC raptors. But I'm 6' and have horrible old man knees and hips (I'm 32 lmao) So the seating position was hard for me to even get into. When I did Wonder Woman at SFMM, I could barely bend my legs the right way to sit down to begin with, and then the ride op came and stapled me in. Not only that, but he somehow got the lap bar just right, so it was making my car keys dig into my legs the whole time. I got off the ride hyped, but with sore hips and a bruised thigh lol. And then I had to sprint to Twisted Colossus before the park closed.

    Little surprised to not see Coast Rider on the worst list with how much crap you've given the shinguards in the past. Also surprised that something managed to beat out Chance Toboggans.
    I suppose you've managed to avoid Togo standups to this point, not hard to imagine those are even worse than B&M's. I know there's a couple still operating in Japan, any of them happen to be on the itinerary for your trip?

    I remember the trains on Phantoms Revenge were comfy. Huge, almost like riding in a love seat. On the flip side at Kennywood I recall Sky Rocket being the most uncomfortable coaster I’ve been in, causing pain in my legs. I couldn’t get off that train fast enough.

  • @MattMcIrvin

    I tend to dismiss complaints about uncomfortable coaster restraints (I seem to have a high tolerance; I think Superman: The Ride is not that bad, and didn't mind the one Premier Sky Rocket II I've ridden, either--granted it had no comfort collars) but I have to admit that B&M hyper clamshells put most of the others I've experienced to shame. I recently saw someone complaining on about them on the grounds that they felt too loose and that was scary!
    I tend to think of any kind of lapbar system as luxurious, but I do admit I really had to fold myself into the current trains on Disney World's Space Mountain.

  • @offrails
    @offrails 2 дня назад +1

    Some of the most uncomfortable trains I've been on include the Kumbak trains that once operated on Python at Efteling and the X-car trains on G-Force at Drayton Manor - even though they are the same type of train as on Rip Ride Rocket, the lap bar would tighten as the ride progressed so that you could barely breathe by the time you hit the brakes.

    Uncomfortable: Flight of the Hippogriff at Universal Studios Hollywood (it's those shin guards that ruin for me), the current bobsleds on Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland (if you sit in either rows 1, 3, 4, or 6, it isn't too bad; but if you sit in either rows 2 or 5, it is Cramp City). I also agree with bending your knees a bit on those stand-up coasters.
    Comfortable: the old 8 man bobsleds on Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland (even with 2 riders per seat, the leg room was great), the chariot car on Tron Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom (I was surprised at how comfortable it was), the trains on X2 at Magic Mountain (I seriously thought my head was laying on a pillow the first time I rode it).

    Magnum is definitely a knee cruncher. I think the trains are what make that coaster one of my least favorites. I've never had an issue with the B&M vest restraints. I actually don't hate standups. Georgia Scorcher is a decent coaster of the model. Vortex has gotten rougher over the years. B&M hypers and gigas are the best! Love those trains! Fury and Thunder Striker are amazing! ❤

    My absolute worst was the first restraints on American Triple Loop. Front seat was ok, little rough, but the back seats were literal punches to the face! My shoulders and face were sore for a couple of weeks! Thank God they removed the over the shoulder restraints and just kept the lapbar, much better. Not great, but better.

    I rode a travelling Toboggan in France in 2022. I'm just under 6ft and either I braced okay as other than one moment where I hit my head on the top, it made me think either Little Amerika doesn't take care of Swiss Toboggan or its a little overhated. I still don't know why parks like Hersehypark and Astroworld ever bought them

    I actually find the trains for X2 to be super comfortable, same for Viper but I think I'm just the right build for both of them. Or maybe it's because I grew up riding Arrow loopers so there's a certain amount of muscle memory involved.
    I'm glad you included Whizzer as comfortable. Lots of good memories from that coaster.
    For uncomfortable, Old Revolution was terrible as an individual ride, but I think overall the B&M stand-ups probably win that race. Even going back to Iron Wolf which was my first, they've never been too comfortable to me.

    A slight snub on the intamin OTS lab bars here, they’re simply the best in my estimation, zero discomfort or pain especially considering how extreme some of the rides can be with them
