My dad loved this film. Not just because it was funny but because we'd lost mom a couple years earlier and it resonated strongly with him. Leave it to Pixar to come up with the most absurd premise and make you live, love and laugh all the way through it.
I honestly think this movie is a masterpiece. I don't think there's that many movies that leave me this emotional throughout, it's a rollercoaster! It's wonderfully imaginative and contains some very important lessons for people of all ages. It's one of those movies everyone should watch at least once.
Not a mess, Bunny. Beautiful. Squirrel!
The opening will never not draw out all the emotions. And then when the montage ends, and you think to yourself that it is over, emotionally speaking, the movie hits you with the "No" and then keeps going
This is one of the best movies I've seen as it is a true depiction of life. How fast it goes by and, to charish all the special moments whenever possible.
After watching this movie the first time I started joking with one of my blonde sisters who loves blonde jokes. I would interrupt any conversation by pointing and saying "squirrel". To this day it cracks us both up.
Squirrel!!
The 5 minute montage at the beginning of this movie is more emotional and heartfelt than many movies today.
Doug is ALWAYS going to win, because dogs are colorblind and they are all grey to him.
Dogs aren't really colorblind, but that is the factoid that has come about.
edit: Do me a favor and watch the movie "Tangled." While "UP" is the last great Disney film they made, "Tangled" is their magnum opus and it's not even Pixar.
Oh I have actually seen Tangled a couple times. Another tearjerker
Dogs absolutely are colour blind. They have only two colour receptors (called cones) in their eyes, whereas humans typically have three. The misconception is that they see in black & white, where the reality is that they see the same way a colourblind person does.
Experiencing movie with you is like watching it fir the first time again only much, much more special. Gracias niña especial. As always, thank you Bunnytails. 🐇🌹
Thank you very much!
Composer Michael Giacchino won an Oscar, bafta, golden globe and Grammy for the score.
If you ever get around to watching the reboot star trek movies, although some people crap on the movies, they can't deny that Michael Giacchino's score is fantastic.
I am not a Disney fan; especially in recent years. However, this particular film is an exception. And your reaction to it is priceless!
Pixar Animation Studios made this film. Disney was just the distributor.
@@Stogie2112 Thank you for pointing this out! It drives me nuts when people attribute films to "Disney" which are made by Pixar, Marvel Studios or Lucasfilm... they are all separate divisions within the overarching Walt Disney Studios umbrella alongside Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
One is never too old to watch a Pixar film. No matter how many times I've watched this, it srill gets to me with the feels.
Thank you, again, Bunny...one of my absolute favorites!
You're welcome!
Another great Pixar film for you, Soul. Very colourful.

Your comments are always so insightful. Love your reactions.
Thanks! 😊
Doug reminds me so powerfully of my Dog (not the breed, he was a Border Collie, but in the whole happy loyal kind sweetness) who I lost a few years ago that I've always found "Up" an almost physically painful watch since. I wish I could've just told him once that I loved him and know that he understood like Doug could.
This movie will take one on the emotional roller coaster. I'm fighting off that tear, right now. It's alright. And it is absolutely wonderful that they had found each other so early in life and made their marriage last a lifetime. They pushed a whole pair of lifetimes at us with Wall-E moving precision. It's absolutely brilliant. Said what needed saying and pulled right at the heartstrings.
.
*"I... wanna say one last goodbye to the old place."* Now, this is a very dark theory that I whole heartedly support. The old man gets that one vital minute away from the men who would have changed his golden years into the final plot twist of his life. With thoughts heavy about everything that he had lived through... the dreams and the realities shared with us... he goes for his finale plan. Some sort of quick suicide. Now, the movie will never outright tell us what truly happened. But I feel the unfilmed events are written between the dialog. Was it successful or a failure? That's beyond the scope of the grand scheme that unfolds. The second that those balloons go into the air is where he is dreaming, and his mind is indeed gone. I'd like to think he lives the life he wanted via dream logic while permanently in a coma. But this could as easily be some post death purgatory thing. The movie will never admit it. So, pointless to draw conclusions.
- First off, if the house actually was anchoring down all that helium, there's no way that the act of just putting them up higher is going to magically tear the house from its foundation. Absolute dream logic relying on the multiple 'excess balloons make cart float' logic they shoved into our faces.
- Second, a house isn't exactly built to tolerate holding together when being pulled upwards. While I'm sure that such a notion like this has never been attempted in real life, I'd expect that far too much of the support system would crumple in on itself over this... Monopoly one piece fabricated house deal. I could see him around middle age trying for such modifications that could allow for balloons to escape into the open air. But he wasn't desperate for anything like this during that point in life. And given that an electric lift (like we saw used in Gremlins.) was required just to get up and down the stairs, there is no way his elderly body could make such modifications ever work.
-- And now that I think of it, what's another example of a house that holds together while going up, up, up? Wizard of Oz. Dorithy gets a super strong blow to the head, and she takes a nosedive into the bed. Then the movie goes totally off the hinges and the majority takes us through a perceived reality in a faraway land that has all its own rules. It also proposes that whole 'everything you see here is real' notion. And yet, deductive reasoning can completely tear it down to pure imagination.
- The random kid on his porch was one of the last things fresh in his mind. So, the random things that the dying mind latches onto is a dream variant to share his lifelong adventure in.
- How, indeed, would such a free floating house go exactly where the old man's lifelong adventure plans needed it to go? Only in dreams could childhood notions about a lost adventurer conclude in actually finding the guy. And we're probably proposing this house managed to float half way around the world, as well. And let us not even conceive how his aged, fragile body is holding the whole house singlehandedly or he is running when the need arises.
It is a beautiful dream. But logic has to take a back seat to fully follow along with this emotional roller coaster. And it seems appropriate to end this with LLAP.
I'll just add that these dogs, born and raised in the middle of nowhere, would have zero idea of a mailman. But in dream logic, where the old man knows dogs go after mail carriers, the link makes sense. At least to him.
The montage at the beginning is the most talked-about part of the movie, and there's certainly a good reason for that. But the moment that hits me even harder--every single time I watch this--is when Carl finds the photos Ellie put in the adventure book. I don't even have to explain why because you already said everything I would've said about it during the reaction.
Yes. The Adventure Book is the pivotal moment in the story. Ellie's last words to Carl enabled him to let go of his grief and get back to enjoying life.
By your comments at the end, you showed you are a wise bunny. I enjoyed watching that with you, thank you.
Thanks!
Mrs. Bunny, it's been a while since I've watch this film , I'm 63 and manly (I THINK) when it comes to this film I loved it! Many of my friends loved it because of laughter in it , but to me it's important to do things together and show love to those who are close to you ,because we know the time will come that many of the stuff in this movie will effect us personally, we can learn from this movie make the time count to family and friends and make wonderful memories now so that one could look back and have joy and a smile.
P.S
I always think of the BIBLE BOOK OF ECCLESIASTES.
You done well with this choice ,thank you BUNNY.
Great reaction time to watch Big Hero 6.❤
this movie does a surprisingly good job of showing what people go through when they lose their partner. It's been a while since my fiance passed away, and his loneliness, struggle to find a reason to keep going, and finding things that are worth living for and letting other people into his life is handled so incredibly well. To me this is pixar's best film and i will always be impressed a silly kids movie handled it all so much better than any other movie i have seen
this movie destroys my tear ducts. it makes me miss the love of my life
I hope you had many adventures together!
Good reaction. If you haven't watched Ratatouille or Encanto already, then you should. Also, all of the Toy Story movies.
I have not seen Ratatouille or Encanto actually. I seen Toy Story 1 and I think 2
Really enjoyed your reaction!
Glad you enjoyed!
The last Pixar movie I saw with my 17 year old son who thought he was too big for this kids stuff but was crying in the first five minutes.
He's 34 now Married and gave me 2 granddaughters 10 and 12 now. Time flies.
Its was only yesterday my Wife(future X)and I took him to see Toy Story when he was only 5.😢😢😢
Like everything Pixar has done, Up is a brilliant film. I don't know at what point exactly Pixar evolved from 'well made family movie with a good story and lesson' to 'kids are still going to find this a well-made movie with a good story and lesson, but for everyone else we're going to stick a knife in your emotions, and twist, and you will be crying and even a little transformed', but this is definitely in the latter category. I think the transformation might have been Wall-E.
Loved your reaction and engagement with the movie, as always!
Bunny: "Haha, I survived the saddest opening montage in history because I was suspicious!"
Movie: "Wait five minutes."
Reaches through my laptop screen and hands a tissue to Bunny and gives her a hug ....... SQUIRREL
Thank you Yung 😊
You should watch “*batteries not included.” In that movie there is an apartment building of people that do not want to make way for developers.
TBH this isn't one of my favorite Pixar films, and I usually stop watching after the opening montage. But I watched this one.
Pixar under John Lasseter's leadership always did have a certain magical ....SQUIRREL!
You're exactly the right person to watch this movie. Disney's best movie because it's Pixar. Even better than Dragon Slayer.
The joke about Dug spotting the gray cars and that the dogs in the planes were the gray squadron is because dogs are color blind
That is why Bunny joked about how Dug was gonna win the car counting contest. Lots of grey cars out there! 😄
I've watched many reactions to "Up", and there are a few reactors who did NOT cry. Honest! 😲
They're the small minority, of course. The very large majority of reactors did cry, and some cried a LOT. 😭
I would give the "Needs A Crying Towel" Award to Bissflix, who dehydrated herself during the film. 🏆
@My very beautiful bunnytails! "It's all for his beautiful wife" What man wouldn't do his wife's last request!!!!!! Js😊

I recommend you +🔥

Paradise Falls is based on the real-life Angel Falls, located in Venezuela, South America. The peculiar mesas depicted in Paradise Falls are called tepui, or “house of the gods” in the language of the local Pémon.
Thanks, I didn’t know that!
@bunnytailsREACTS you're welcome
There are alot of theories about this movie.
1 is that Carl Fredrickson is actually dead.
2 that Russell is really Carl's spirit helper or guardian angel guiding him to his 'heaven'.
3 that Russell is the re-incarnation of the baby Carl & Ellie lost and again is helping his 'father' hence the absence or his real father in the movie.
Doug is just Dog with a 'U' in it.
Most dogs except Doug have names based on the Greek Alphabet:
Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta ect.
Pixar has a thing for Absentee Fathers.
Both Andy in Toy Story and
Russell in UP no longer have their fathers in there life with no clear explanation.
Same the with Jonny Quest's missing mother.
Ratatouille is a much better movie IMO. Much more realistic, once you get past the highly intelligent Rat stuff.🙂🙂🙂
You know they go to a real place
Paradise Falls?
I think you missed the gag at the end. Dug isn't seeing grey cars. Dogs are colourblind. All the cars going by are grey to him.
Technically, I still consider this a creation from Pixar Animation Studios. Disney can add its name in the title but this is in its heart and soul a creation from the studio in Emeryville. Peter. Peter Docter is one of the creative heads at Pixar and wrote the stories for Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999) plus WALL-E (2008), directed and wrote the stories for. Monster, Inc. (2001) , Up, and Inside Out (2015).
The brilliance of Up is that it so effective as an animation in the first five minutes to bring adults to tears in a montage with very little dialogue. It has you hooked at the very start. Such a powerful movie. It is Disney in name only.
Disney meanwhile, did a dirty with John Carter (2012) which was directed by fellow Pixar alumnus, Andrew Stanton. It was poorly marketed. Do yourself a favor and check out this film, based on the first book of the Barsoom science fiction series, A Princess of Mars (1912), penned by Edward Rice Burroughs, famously, also the creator of Tarzan. It is my opinion, that John Carter is a highly underrated film.
Pixar Animation Studios did indeed make this film. Disney was just the distributor.
Pixar became a subsidiary of Disney in 2006, but it is still the same film-making entity. The good people of Pixar still make their own great films.
*sigh* my life partner/ fiancée cheated & left me for her co - worker and I had to kick her out of my apartment after 3 yrs of not realizing it sooner…. since watching along with ur reaction I’m still realizing wut I still miss even now yrs l8ter thru therapy trying to come to terms with it, I laugh, smile but the emotional parts get me the most lolz
oh Ellie, you filled in the album....
😭
For years, I wouldn't watch this film. Nothing against it, I just seldom watch Disney animation. Friends kept telling me I need to watch it because it relates to everyone and if you watch it you'll understand. I finally watched it and I did understand. Many of us have lost people very dear to us, the circumstances may be different, but the hurt and the need to heal is universal. It's a beautiful film, and I'm glad I decided to watch it.
It is Pixar animation. Pixar Animation Studios made "Up". Disney is just the distributor.
Don't watch many Pixar films, as well.
For those unfamiliar with "Snipe Hunts", it is a well-known practical joke when you want to get rid of someone or prank them. It's a part of the plot for "Up" as Carl sends Russell on a "snipe" hunt to get rid of him. A snipe is a completely imaginary bird, however, in this case, Kevin turns out to be the "snipe." LOL
The Snipe Hunt is also the origin of the expression "left holding the bag"!
except it should be clarified that actual snipes do exist, they're slightly goofy looking little wading birds, sort of like sandpipers, dowitchers, yellowlegs, etc...which all look sort of the same to my eyes.
Never heard of this before, thanks!
Yeah, Snipes are absolutely real. The phrase is somewhat like sending someone on a “wild goose chase” - which also isn’t meant to imply that wild geese don’t exist - only that they’re hard to catch and so are a good way to keep someone busy that you want out of the way.
But unfortunately as people lose touch with the natural world and Snipe are small birds that spend their time out in marshes and swamps, the vast majority of people haven’t ever seen one let alone known what it was, and so many people that still are familiar with the “snipe hunt” concept now seem to think that snipe are pure myth even though they’re very real (and as a birdwatcher I’ve seen and photographed them multiple times)
Also, the difficulty of snipe hunting (since they’re small, reasonably camouflaged and spook somewhat easily) is where the term “sniper” comes from - i.e. the person that can spot and shoot a camouflaged target from a distance before being detected themselves.
if you don't cry when you watch this movie, there's something wrong with you...
No one survives the opening of this movie without a box of tissues. Pixar going right for the jugular...😢
Bunny, try Inside out - another great animated movie directed by Pete Docter.
Inside Out 2 is actually the highest grossing movie of 2024 so far!
I saw it when it first came out. I don’t really remember the plot, though. Maybe I can do a react re-watch someday
25:14 "I don't think I'm the right person to watch a movie like this."
Bunny, you are the perfect person to watch a movie like this. Millions of people have watched "UP", and we are all just like you.
This brilliant film was made to make us laugh, cry, think, reflect and always remember the story of Carl, Ellie and Russell. 😊
I once thought that "The Incredibles" was the best animated film ever!
Then I saw "WALL-E". That became the best animated film ever!
And then I saw "UP".....
Therapists have to make a living.
@@Stogie2112 Whatever you say, genius.
I’ve not seen The Incredibles before!
@@bunnytailsREACTS ... Highest recommendation for "The Incredibles". It's fantastic. Just like "Up" and "WALL-E", it was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards.
@@bunnytailsREACTS Less crying on that one.
After seeing your reaction to the Star Trek episode Metamorphosis I knew this film was going to wreck you Bunny 😢 Hopefully in a good way! It's funny though that because of all the spoilers people threw at you you didn't really cry in the beginning.. You just cried for pretty much the rest of the entire movie! Don't be embarrassed though because I did too 🙂
Ah yes! This and Metamorphosis hit hard in that same ballpark.
You kept saying you didn't think you were the right person to be watching this movie. You are absolutely the right person to be watching this movie. Thank you for your reaction.
My pleasure ❤️
Up is great movie but it is hard to watch.
this is the only Disney movie that made me cry when i first watched it
I love this movie so thank you Bunny highly enjoyed this movie reaction🥰
last great movie Pixar made, imho...
"UP" is one of the best films I have ever seen. It's popularity and critical acclaim are well-deserved!
Full credit goes to Pixar Animated Studios, which produced this magnificent film. Disney was just the distributor.

The Movie where everyone only talks about the beginning because it's soo sad. 😆
I remeber the movie for Squirrel :) and also the ending with album also has a great impact.
Of course dogs flying airplanes. It's a DOGFIGHT!
Of course dogs are playing poker on a green velvet poker table!
I love up
A tear jerker for sure.😢
Beautiful Movie..very emotional.
Love never dies ❤
The opening montage to this movie, the duet scene in OMORI, and pretty much all of _I Am Sam_ are three of the most notable things I've experienced that utterly destroyed me. It takes a _lot_ to get me to tear up, so that says a lot regarding those three things.
This was just a Pixar film before Disney bought Pixar, so they don't deserve much credit. This is really Pete Dockter's film. This film is masterfully told, not only through dialog but the visual storytelling is exceptional. This was a great movie for you to watch I am overjoyed that you chose to watch it! Pete Dockter comes from my city, and he is a bit of a genius storyteller. He wrote The Incredibles, Iron Giant, Toy Story, and many other great films. You should watch some of his other films, in particular I think you would really like Iron Giant. I am 65 now, and this movie has more meaning for me than I can relate.
Thanks for the correction! I have not seen The Incredibles or The Iron Giant.
Great movie. it is such a great and different animation movie. It deals with real life you almost forget it is an animation movie. It is both funny and Sad. I was never interested seeing animation movies until I saw this movie. I agree with your conclusions Carl felt like a failure when Ally died before they got the chances to go to pardise fault only after looking at theAlbum in the end he realise he did not fail and he learn to ket go of the oast and move on .You should also watch Big Hero 6 which is also a great movie like this. Squirrel :)
Oh I’ve seen Big Hero 6. I liked that one a lot too 😊
bunnytails is apparently dead inside. She showed no reaction to the death in the beginning.
This isn't Disney - They couldn't make something as heartfelt as this.
This is peak Pixar... 🙂
But now Disney owns Pixar so... technically it's Disney 🙂
My mistake
@@PhysicalMediaPreventsWea-bx1zm ..... Disney may "own" Pixar, but Pixar is still the same film-making company it has always been. As a subsidiary of Disney, Pixar makes the films. Disney just markets and distributes them.
i would have worried if YOU of all people had NO TEARS! 🥲 your reaction was PERFECT, full of HEART and LOVE! 👍☺
❤️
