Im blackbelt in karate, aikido and other martial arts and what can i say is that aikido works BUT 80% of people uses as choreography, hoping that the rival throws himself doing an acrobatic fall to the floor and break his limbs.. because it has been "filtered" to look as a "pacific/ nonviolent martial art" (promotes peace and spirituality, but as any other martial art, it was made for war, an unarmed combat art to kill and survive without a sword in samurai ages) and for hide the real application and the lethality of the techniques when are well executed.. on the other side, many styles of karate suffers the same since turned into a competition sport, practitioners have hard times in real fights because they have their mindset and thinking in "score points" instead of defeat the rival in a fight.. Just Facts, No hate or offense, I LOVE ALL martial arts.. are like music genres, languages or colors.. you just have know how and when to apply them to maximize their uses. Greetings to all, i really enjoy your content

Same with judo. Watered down by competition like karate. It turned to be a wrestling with people using strength but in the past since it comes from ju jutsu as aikido some techniques were deadly and as times went by they removed techniques again and again from the curriculum saying they were not safety to do in competition (although I did some of them in the 1990s) . Really a shame when you learn about the story of lot of Jigoro Kano students and himself…

This is good you say that, because there are so many people who believe this Martial art simply doesn't work. Instead they brag about the merits of Undisciplined Unorganized Combat such as MMA. I for one do not respect MMA and as a Marine trained in CQB CLOSE QUARTER BATTLE I feel confident my skills could thwart any threat from MMA. I mean CQB was developed for war just as this art was. This is what I stare & I stand by it. I respect Martial Arts in All it's forms.

@@user-bf7wn2ob7y it’s like for aikido. Most techniques were designed for the battefield, for example when you do the ikkyo technique nowadays lot of aikidokas don’t know it is just meant to expose the armpit of the opponent which was a weak point on the samurai armor and the next move would be to stab this part or if you don’t have a knife to smash the head of the opponent because you are at the right point also. Or the armlock or techniques on knees where designed for security in official meeting in Japanese castle to respect the etiquette because you were not able to spill blood to counter a knife attack. Or some throwing techniques seems weird but there were performed with a knife to cut the arm of the opponent not throw him. Lot of aikido moves were designed to create an opening to make a finishing move , or were a finishing move like the irimi nage. It was not performed like it is today , the beginning yes but the end of the move was made to kill

5:55 -- It is hard redirect ki like how Shirakawa Sensei is doing to Take Sensei. I remember the first time I grabbed my sensei's wrist -- I felt like I was already off my feet the moment I touch his wrist. Then when we broke out to workout with other students, it felt like I was grabbing rag dolls, even the black belts. I would go up to the black belts and ask, "Do you know what sensei is doing when we grab him?" They'd reply -- "YES! We know what's going on, but it is so hard to get to that level."

@@Zveruidfly Martial Arts itself is knowing human anatomy and how to counter it in the mist of an attack. So what are you saving? Evidently you haven't done your homework sir. When the OSS as well as other alphabet agencies including the military in it's infancy were looking for the best self defense art for it's operatives they bought in various masters from Asia from various disciplines , Karate, Ninjitsu, jujitsu , Akido and others. They took bits and pieces of what was practical for the battlefield and created their own combative system such as Applegate and others. In fact Rex Applegate has books which can confirm what I'm talking about. Dr. Haha Lung is another one.

Try your aikido outside of aikido dojo. Only then you can know what it's worth. If you didn't test it in a real situation, it's worth is just some nice fitness exersise and not more. Also in a real life situation you will be grabbed and hit at the same time. And even if you put a person on the ground he'll put his second hand into a pocket and stick a knife into your leg or belly. That's what gonna happen with this "master" on the street against some drugged guy who doesn't care. %)

(Если серьезно занимались) говорили, это круто , это работает но очень сложно понять в начале. Поэтому и считается одним из сложных боевых искусств. А если вы не верите ,,железному кулаку,,? Он прозанимался карате 30 лет. И врать ему не зачем.
