If your USAF Security Forces assigned stateside within the USA, all you really be doing is assigned as a gate sentry and scan ID/CAC cards at the base entrances, rain or shine or other inclement weather, at most you'll be able to patrol the flightline. If it's a large base within a big city, like Lackland in San Antonio, Texas you'll get plenty of base traffic vs being assigned out in the middle of nowhere like Minot AFB in North Dakota. Two of the key things in Tech School, is to not be afraid to ask questions, and time management when you’re out of class, set up a routine of study every night after class, don’t get caught up in the new freedoms you have after class, and if you’re having difficulty during a segment of the training admit it and ask for help. If you can do that you will proudly become a Defender of The Force.
I noticed in school that academics was not the biggest issue but physical fitness and injuries were some of the worst obstacles in the course. Basic doesn't do an appropriate job physically getting the airmen ready for the basics of the schoolhouse. They only prepare them to pass the PFT.
@@OrioleBeagle They do now apparently. SF and SPECWAR contract cadets get more time to workout and eat. I know for a fact it is this way for SPECWAR, but I heard they kinda do the same now for SF.

What does it mean to be federally accredited?
@@StealthyMaizero Hey, I have been SF for over 15 years now. If you want to join the AF and plan to be a police officer when you get out then yes, I would recommend Security Forces. Most likely you won't do much law enforcement while you are in though (it really depends on what bases you get stationed at as some bases are mostly security duties while others are busy with LE). It is still good though because the education path gets you a CCAF degree in Criminal Justice if you choose to pursue it (pretty much an associates degree from the Community College of the Air Force)
@@gotit1303 It can help. While in he can pursue his Criminal Justice degree. Also, depending on what base he goes to, there are school opportunities to go to FLETC for training and certifications. USAF Security Police-87-91. During my enlistment, I was stationed at three different bases. Back in the day Security Police were split into two branches; Security Specialists and Law Enforcement. I was LE. Had a great time, got to see a lot. Participated in a cold war exercise. We were deployed from Kelly AFB, TX to Lakenheath AFB, England. We set up Air Base Ground Defenses (ABGD)and had mock battles with British Paratroopers. Our lines were probed at night by SAS. After the exercise ended, we all got pissed drunk with the British paratroopers. My favorite base was Clark AB, Philippines. At the time the largest US over seas base in the world. 3rd SPG. There were 1000 Security Specialist and a little over 800 LE. Clark AB had motor cycle cops, horse patrol (Mounted Calvary) The horses were shipped over from Australia and off-base Town Patrol. If you were a cut above the rest, you had a chance for one of these positions. I had the honor and privilege to work Town Patrol. Mama San love G.I! While at Clark AB, there were several Coup attempts to topple the Philippine government. This is were are ABGD training came to bare. We had Mortar teams, 30mm grenades, 50 cal machines gun teams set up all over the base. I was on a Humvee with 50 cal. Our humvee was piled high with Law rockets, grenades, thousands of ammo..... and not one shot was fired. Bummer! Prior to enlisting in USAF, I was in the Texas Army National Guard. I was mechanized infantry, 11-H. I'd rather be USAF Security Force than Army mechanized infantry. Humping gates has its advantages. I got plenty of dates humping the gates. Defensor Fortis!

@@johnrodriguez7742 Current USAF SF Member and I'll clear this up for ya. Do they graduate from Army ranger school? No, actually less then 20% of the career even gets slotted for the Ranger course and even then they have to complete pre-ranger first and that barley happens. Let's say an SF member does graduate from both Pre-Ranger & Ranger. No, It doesn't add to that flight/squadrons functionality at all. That member will still do the job of his/her squadron, They will not do any type of Ranger-esque missions because it is not their job. Honestly, the tab is just the tab, nothing else. YES, an SF member MIGHT do joint training with Army MP and Infantry as I have but that's RARE and usually only happens on a joint-base where there is both Army and Air Force. On the other hand, SF members attached to an AFSOC base can put in to go DAGRE which in all honesty is the closest an SF member will EVER be to becoming any type of SecOps or in other words on the Offense as opposed to the usual Defensive position we're usually put on. DAGRE members pull missions with the U.S. Military's TACP, CCT, Rangers and so on. Those dudes are on another level from your everyday SF Member. Overall an SF member is nothing but a gate guard or law enforcement patroller. there are MANY opportunities that one can take to get past the mundane life of a straight leg. chances that you'll be able to pursue those hopes are very slim because people already in those positions don't want to leave. If you were going to describe SF as a whole I say it is impossible, Its gotta be on a person by person basis. Way too many of us do way to many different jobs. I know a couple of members who literally haven't held their weapon for years other than to qualify annually.
My advice if you want to become law enforcement there is definitely better ways to do it. Do not settle for security forces unless you really interested in working LE or security. There’s a lot of people that are miserable in this career field because it’s not what they thought it would be. Which I see what they mean but I’d definitely look at other options or do more research and see if you’d really like it. I hate seeing new airman be so miserable in the job and not like their job because at the end of the day It hurts the career field. I’m speaking of active duty experience btw
Thomas, Congratulations and welcome to the team! Here are some things to help you before and during Basic Military Training (BMT). - Know your reporting statement (at the very minimum) - Teamwork is essential - Know your chain of command - Know the Airmen’s Creed - Know the Air Force Song - Know Air Force ranks (both enlisted & officers) - Know Air Force Core values - Recommend being at or close to the BMT PT graduation level before you go to BMT (always check with your doctor before exercising). Everything else will come with time. If you do not know any of the above please contact your recruiter for this information. Good luck future Airman! Ray U.S. Air Force and Space Force Recruiting
Did 6 years and ya you train a lot. Do you use your training? No. Is it necessary? I'd say most of it is because you train for situations that are unlikely to happen but it can happen. Its the hard truth you have to understand that you can do a whole 4-6 years and never have a situation like that occur. Infact the first year of your career will be spent on a gate scanning ID cards or on the flight line watching air craft then if you are motivated and stand out from your peers you can ride patrol. The key is you must stand out and rise above your peers so basically the chances of you getting off gate duty after the first year is slim. Most troops that I trained unfortunately were not very motivated because my base had a very toxic atmosphere. Not to say they were bad but their morale was not very high. I will say deployments were awesome and I'd go back in a heart beat. I can't speak for all though because some people hated being in the desert thousands of miles away from home away from their families. All in all its what you make of it and if you're not a stern hard charging individual you will have a bad time. People should also understand that the suicide rate and divorce rate is very high in SF for a reason. It's a highly stressful job but can be fulfilling. Overall in my opinion it really depends on who you are with on flight. Some cops can be a nightmare to be around and others are an absolute joy. Oh and by the way don't let anyone kid you into thinking this is on some level of Infantry or spec ops. It's not. The ground combat training is very watered down compared to army or marines and not even close to spec ops.
I see a lot of negative comments and all I wanna say is if you haven’t done it, then don’t speak on it. When you go through that training and then get to do it in real life and you see how serious it really is then you can say something. Until then, stfu and sit down.
I agree. We could all be embarrassed if someone showed a video of us training. Cause that's what it is. A time to make mistakes and get corrected. There are a lot of internet know it all's that have experienced very little.

Question from a High School Junior interested in trying to join as part of the Law Enforcement Security Force: Should I do ROTC/College before joining or is there really no point? Do you have to go? (And if so, how long do you go for?)

How much will sf help my boy get a career in law enforcement?

Checking ID cards at gates is not law enforcement. It's what guards do at my condo.

Love seeing stuff about SF

Sgt: Oh....hmmmm....sorry, but there is no such job opening called that. You sure you won't take Security Police?
Me: Sargent please, I was told I was going into photo-intel, or some other kind of job.
Sgt: That's fine AB Wootie, ummmmmm.....lets see.....you're going to Security Police.
Three and a half years later
Squadron Commander: Sgt Wootie, I see your enlistment is up soon, would you like me to explain the benefits of reenlisting?
Me: Ummmm....F**K no....Sir !
This was me except I was told loadmaster at Charleston AB 😆😆😆👏👏
Not SF, dont know why they have that patch tbh.
Jordan Medina SF means security forces
Why am I watching this I'm an AGE ranger
DANG....There are females in Security....we didn't have them in Security "Back in the Day"!!
Do they deploy a lot?
If you’re in Air Guard/ Reserves, yes. If you’re active duty..you’re more likely to stay at that spot for a while
ilove united state air force.

There is no Pipeline in security forces stop trying to make it seem like something it's not. That's false advertisement.
Team 003 HUA!
Richard Jackson hi
Have fun at the gates
@@swampfoxIX as did I
Literally Military Police 😂 but trying to make the smallest easy task sound cool
I want my money
USAF Security Forces Job sounds pretty boring. You could spend 10 years, and never have a single in incident. Then one day some crazy SOB gets on base, and starts shooting people. Keep your head in the game guys and girls.
Yeah...
The most mid-leading video I have seen to this date. If it was this good then why is it brand new airman don’t exemplify everything portrayed in these videos when they get back from tech school?
Fast
Free not buy easy not work
Its not a pipeline. The tech school is just extended BMT.
Jesus Christ, Space Force. 🤦♂️
Don’t do it.
Why
@@alanshearer3682 did 8 years of this. If I could do it all over again I’d definitely choose a different career field. Bad working conditions, leadership, it’s pretty much a dog eat dog world. Most of the people who get promoted only get promoted by kissing @s$ and screwing other people over.
Team 45 huah
For the love of Christ do not listen to this video
Why
Leaving for this next month. Can't wait
Good luck and best wishes to you!!
