When my children were young we never bought expensive presents and now we can afford it but its always useful stuff. Our church collects shoeboxes to send to East Europe, 89 this year also collect for the local foodbank and daytime hub for homeless.
Yes totally agree Katie most presents that go under a Christmas tree are totally unnecessary. I was only out the other day and speaking to someone who had forked out hundreds on toys and gifts for her kids most of which were ridiculous expensive like £100 trainers or £400 mobile phone; yikes how much? It’s just the crazy world we live in now. There are genuine families out there as you say that are struggling to put food on the table and we have £400 mobile phones. I think the genuine meaning of Christmas has been lost one of love and affection and just that little message at Christmas time of peace and reflection. Take care Katie and merry Christmas🎄🎄
Don't feel bad about buying preloved used or second hand gifts x x we do that for some things it's often where the value is. Better for the planet too. Love that you are shopping so late, there's so much choice and pressure but there's so much tat and waste too. A lot of people are impressed by what others have but in the end most of it is just clutter, we have been making our Christmas spend cheaper over last few years and the magic is still there x x your kids are great so whatever it is you're doing is good for your family x x glad Perry is okay x ❤ to you all and Merry Christmas

We don't celebrate Xmas anymore since mum became an angel in 2020. Please don't feel bad about where you go for gifts. The Christmases that I most remember were the one's where mum and dad didn't have hardly any money but they made it even more fun and special, just being more involved with us. My best Xmas was when I was about 6 and all they could afford was 4 cards of clothes for my cindy doll. I remember that to this day. Loved it and them. It's the memories you make that mean the most xxxx 😊❤

You only spent £50 on the kids and jim jams? 'cos obviously the other 250 nuggets are on my pressie!! Christmas is about family and helping those who have none. My mum worked in a nursing home and every year would bring a lonely soul home and my dad is a member of a society who help those in need directly. Sometimes just food and a few cheap toys, sometimes financial help. The society isn't secret, but their work is. They help people in need all year round including counselling and sometimes just a bit of company. If it wasn't for my nieces, I wouldn't bother with Chrimbo. We still put up a tree.
