    I'm reading the comments and agreeing with all the hype. But can we please talk about Taylor Hawkins? The man is a gem, he always plays his soul out, he's a massive talent, and he is constantly playing and smiling like he's the star in the latest toothpaste commercial. That man elevates music. He is the drummer your favorite drummer speaks highly of. Can we all just agree he makes this everything it is.

    Not sure if anyone notices but the blend of the 3 guitars is so critical in their music and their choice of instruments is key. Chris plays a lot of Teles which are great for hi end and picking the chords, Dave on the 335 which is thicker and more mid toned then Pat play a baritone guitar which rounds out the low end of the guitar spectrum... The result is 3 parts working together to make one big fat sound!

    • @number1cabdriveriniowacity736
      @number1cabdriveriniowacity736 4 года назад +11

    The Foo Fighters are probably the last true rock stars. They all absolutely love what they do and are still having the time of their lives. Songs they have sang every day for 20 years and they still give it the energy of the first night. They genuinely care if the audience has a good time and want to make sure that when every single person front to back talks about the best show they ever saw, it's theirs. That's the ego to have. It sucks Taylor left the show early. After Kiss and the FF, there won't be another one. And for that I say thanks for all the fish.

    While no one can predict the future, I'm fairly certain that the Foo Fighters cannot continue - as heartbreaking and solemn as that is. Not because a killer drummer couldn't technically play the music, but something unique and essential is forever lost. As Bonham is/was that essential strand of DNA of Led Zeppelin, Taylor is to Foo Fighters. Can you visualize, after 20+ years, Dave looking back to sync up with Taylor, knowing as a drummer instinctively what is going to occur in the next millisecond - only to see someone else in the seat? I didn't think so. that's what WE see. On a deeper level, it's impossible to describe knowing what is about to be played, even the first time for something new and unique. Like knowing what your lifelong partner is about to say, only and 120 BPM, lol. Pandemic related references we hear about the "empty seat at the table" This is the forever empty seat on the stage. I remember hearing Dave describe this friendship as the "longest relationship I've ever had"
    Forget the salacious shit about "10 Substances" found - so what if he took meds of ANY type? He was functioning on a level few ever attain, solid, reliable and the epitome of what "hard rock" is. Because of the incredible cardio levels of playing that way constantly, his heart was massively outsized (600 grams - to average men's heart is 250-350gm) - metaphorically, physically, literally and figuratively Taylors heart was too big. Who would disagree?
    For me it was that child-like innocence... that normality he maintained throughout all of his personal success. It wasn't the financial success that pleased him -those seeking to buy happiness often find there isn't enough riches in the world. To be as grateful as Taylor was, to find intensity and joy with what life brought, vs ever seeking, never finding... Parallels have been drawn to Kurt, but they were different as night and day. Analytical vs. simple (in the greatest sense of the word); cynical vs innocent, dark vs light, grateful vs. unsatisfied, challenging vs accepting. Stories abound, about invoices for gear he bought kids at the local drum store, visits to elementary schools, his love of people, drums, kids, drums, his own wife, kids and extended family, drums. Sense a pattern here?
    I don't know about Dave, Pat and the rest of the band, or anyone else in the world, but There Goes MY Hero.
    If you see this posted in a few places, please try to understand. I am deeply and irrevocably saddened and simply want to share and remember.

      I think Dave puts too much pressure on his band members and any known name wont take that risk to fill that position. Also 10 substances are not medicine

      I have since read an article that stated Taylor as saying, my body is so bloody sore and im exchausted... hence the meds and THC found... he also is said to have mentioned, how does he do a 20 somethings job at 50 and survive...

    Definitely one of the most talented bands in Rock History!! I love these guys and everything they do is amazing. Even when they cover other bands songs. In a lot of cases they do the songs better than the band that the song they are covering!!

    The secret of DG putting this band together? My guess is that he put on an atomic clock driven metronome and adjusted the beat-rate by a micro-second - watching these (not so) random guys throw up as a physical reaction.
    He is a drummer after all. Not the best instrumentalists in the world - but they are effing physically unable to slide off beat from each other. Making sure that his buddy Taylor will refuse even the slightest deviation by anyone. Proving how greate 4 over 4 can sound when being respected and understood. To the point that when they do slide the BPM ever so slightly, they do it collectively and organically.
    The pacing of this band is effing telepathic. And because they do not have a recording rolling in the background - they can play the pacing. Probably better than any other band on Earth since the days of Prince and peak E-street band and some few.
    While also truly enjoying playing live as that little purple genius did. With a deep understanding that musicians are nothin if they are not working those instruments together.
    Perhaps the most amazing thing though is that I actually believe they are a gang of semi-functional buddies.
    Now, if we could teach kids (for their own sake) to understand that this concert was filmed and posted on youtube better than their own private phone-recording could ever be, maybe they could just let themselves go for an hour like my favourite girl with foggy glasses?
