What an incredible experience to share with us! Easy to see why this was a bucket list trip for you. Thanks for bringing us along! Its videos like this that stimulate my brain enough to realize that there is such a large world out there to explore, with lots of unbelievable fish in it. Congrats on knocking another fish off your bucket list. 🍻Saved this for a Sunday viewing before having to go back to work, so worth the short wait.
Oh my gosh, you're living my dream!! Ever since I saw Yellow Dog put up their field video on Greenland, I've been thinking about that place every day! Looks like you had an amazing time.
I used to work for Foss Maritime as a liaison between Foss, Red Dog Mine (Cominco) and Navios Shipping 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Huge Arctic Char were visible in the salt water, and I caught a couple. They were huge, and super hard to catch, at least in salt water.
Wow, thanks so much for sharing this! No natural predators for the fish? Looks like there's enough mosquito biomass in the air you could live off them!
Awesome videos! I am thinking bout going there. Able to share what u packed for fish gear? I am guessing it all needs to be sanitized before touching waters in Greenland?
Any chance of you providing a rough idea of the cost for a trip like this? I really don't want to contact the lodge if its totally out of my budget. Thanks
It was born out of a bucketlist of fish I picked when I had a experience with pneumonia and septicemia that almost killed me several years ago. One of those fish was Arctic Char.
Bull Trout are a different species from Dolly Varden. There are even searun Bull Trout in the Puget Sound river systems. Bull Trout, Dolly Varden, and Arctic Char are all closely related but are distinctly different species with unique characteristics.
@@spiltmilt in Alaska Dollys and char are the same and no visual difference. when fresh they are silver with pink spots...thats where the name dolly varden comes from..she wore a pink polka dot dress. searun dolly, resident dollys and arctic char look identical in Alaska.
Sorry - enjoy yer channel but char in Iceland - total CRAP - Iceland is a money scam fer fishin, plain and simple - only rich folk are going to Iceland. Want real char and not pay a years salary? Go to the wilds of Maine…yer better off in the good ole US of A
I saw you fishing this morning at the mouth of the Lewis River, and you still found time to put out a video. You are a busy man!
on the Lewis, nice
reminds me a lot of the Alaskan interior. Love fishing the arctic char up there.
I am so jealous. Thanks for sharing your experiences 👍👍👍

One of the most amazing trips of my life.
Such a beautiful fish!!!
Very cool you made it to Greenland! It looks amazing

Nice video ✌️Was there 07 and did bring a spinning rod, but never used it. The rivers is so packed with char so it was fly or die 😅
A place I would love to visit.
Great video
You should! It’s worth it.
Looks like a blast. Thanks for sharing.
Nice
Amazing!! Thanks for sharing!
Such cool looking fish!
Yes very beautiful.
@@spiltmiltdefinitely a bucket list fish especially coloured up and on the fly rod! Well done
I had a blast catching them on foam flies and swinging streamers
Looks like such a fun trip!
Travel all you can! See the world. Fish it all!

Several predators including seals and eagles.

Those fish look amazing! Hows the fight compare to pnw Salmon?
Interesting that some lodges were so adamant about being fly fishing only.
They fight more like steelhead. A lot of jumping and drag burning runs
Beautiful fish when Orange, when silver they look like Mackinaw.. How do they taste?
Mackinaw are members of the char family as well. Fresh from the salt Arctic Char is really tasty. Similar to Brook Trout but firmer and oilier
Blocking some time to watch this.
Camp meat!!

About $6000 barebones with 1/3rd in flights from the USA to Greenland. Would likely be a lot cheaper if you lived on the east coast
@spiltmilt thank you
@@spiltmilt ~$6,000 per person?
Yes
thanks for answering.. is there steelhead or atlantic salmon in those areas
There are some Atlantic Salmon in the salt but only one river in Greenland support a salmon run. Steelhead do not occur in Greenland
cuanto te costo todo ...tambien quiero vivir ese hermoso sueño
What was the origin of getting Greenland on your bucket list?
It was born out of a bucketlist of fish I picked when I had a experience with pneumonia and septicemia that almost killed me several years ago. One of those fish was Arctic Char.
can you catch them with fly rod and fly's
Easily and I do so later in the video. They will readily hit big foam flies skated on the surface
we call them Dolly Varden in Alaska.
Different species.
the river char look more like a char/dolly subspecies called bulltrout..

They are not identical. They are very distinct differences in morphometry. They don't hybridize readily.
