My grandmother used to make something that she called Cherry dessert. She passed away when I was 10 so she was making this when my mother was young and my mother is 85 now. She used cherry pie filling and white Jiffy cake mix on top and it was the best thing I ever ate!
This was one of my first recipes I ever cooked as a young girl growing up. I used blueberry pie filling, pecans, butter and cake mix. You couldn't tell me nothing after I cooked and served this at home for my family when i was about 13-14, lol! I learned this in Home Ec at school, lol! Thanks Ms. Chris for reminding me of this easy, very affordable and so very good recipe!

I always had trouble with the butter not hitting everywhere so what I do is melt the butter and the knots and the cake mix to the butter and mix it so that everything is coated every little crumb is coated and then I pour it on top of the fruit that way the whole top gets crispy.
Hi Chris, This Dump Cake looks delicious, but I can't eat but a few Fruits ( apples & bananas) all other. gives me an allergic reaction :0( So I'm going to use can apples\w DUNCAN JINES Spice cake mix (because IT has all the spices I would normally use in my apple pie) to do this dump cake. The original dump cake had a can of cherry pie filling and a can of pineapple chunks tidbits or crushed. Now anything can be used to make a dump cake including chocolate and pumpkin so it doesn't have to be two cans of cherry pie filling you can use any pie filling or frozen fruit that you want to cook down with a little bit of sugar and add some flour you can do 1 million dump cakes! :-)

The cherry dump cake is also delicious made with a chocolate cake mix as well and top each slice off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!!! 💕🌸💕

Charlie Pritchett; I like to add 1 cup of grated coconut on top of cake mix. Pour 2 sticks of melted butter then bake.

Salted or unsalted butter? Also would margarine work in its place instead of butter?
luvclu Use Butter unsalted or salted is O.K. Only use unsalted butter if the recipe specifically calls for it.😃
