In this lecture I define a photon as both a wave and a particle of light, introduce the Planck Constant as a way we calculate the amount of energy a photon contains based on its frequency and wavelength, and give four examples of calculating the energy, frequency, and wavelength of a photon. I also explain how to convert a Joule to an electron volt (eV).

Thank you so much! It was my teachers first time teaching Nuclear Physics and thus I did not understand very well. Felt hopeless thinking I will have to watch those lengthy Khan Academy videos. It is a miracle that not only did I find a teacher who teaches well, quick, but is also an IB teacher with the exact same curriculum!
    Lifesaver 😢

Thanks. I am so used to use [eV] and easily forget the energy is typically given as [J] with Planck constant.

Where does unit (h) come from?
To solve the blackbody problem, Max Planck introduced the quantum unit (h ), (h=Et ).
The element (h) did not exist in physics before.
The unit (h) does not come from formulas or equations.
Planck introduced h-unit from the "heaven".
Planck introduced the unit (h) intuitively, phenomenologically.
Planck introduced the quantum of action "without recourse to explanations,
metaphysical assumptions and traditional philosophical questions".
For many years, Planck tried to find a rational (classical) explanation
for his h-unit, but without success.
We don't know where the unit (h) came from
