I hope I'm as sharp as this lady when I'm 88. I think her story is rather inspiring too.

The pain that Anne Lister felt ☹️... it's harsh.

Yes! Helena is explaining the Blackstone Edge and Scarborough incident that Anne mentions in episode 7 of Gentleman Jack when Mariana is giving her a hard time in their room.

It was harsh of her to scold Anne for her romantic gesture 😢

Totally wonderful and thank you for this delicious delightful interesting interview. So many women have simply been erased from history because men have deemed them to be anything but noteworthy. We have lost so very much.😩 thank you for this gift 💝, a woman’s voices full of enthusiasm and adventure simply fabulous. However she would never had successfully dogged that age without the loving 🥰 kindness of her aunt and uncle. Her status gave her tremendous freedom compared with most of the time also. In balance she was quite blessed all things considered. 🤗😍

Jodie Dewberry gives a great utube tour of Tiblisi Georgia. Population 1.5 million. It was just as beautiful in 1840. Too bad about the damn tick

Wonderful interview...I’d like to here more from this lady instead of the producer Sally Wainwright of the series...I’m worried that the producer Sally Wainwright is so high on the fame of this first series, she has let it go to her head, and that the second series will not stay true to the journals...

Dr. Joyce D Hatcher perhaps you are correct....after all she is producing a series for tv and not a documentary....it would be nice if HBO would do a very detailed documentary on Ms. Lister journals including Helena Whitbread deciphering’s also. Including as Helena puts it “ the boring parts”. It would be so great to hear of Ann’s travels, how she coped day to day during them, how she tackled being a business women in a mans world, her thoughts on individual laws and changes in government in her day.....what her day to day thoughts were of family, friend and even people she didn’t like, there is so much about Ann Lister that is captivating...

@@rosepalmer73 I agree and since this is a HBO/BBC project we might be able to get that documentary. I don't know where in the world you're located but if HBO has any events for season 2 definitely go and ask for a documentary, I know I will.

What an empty reason to end a relationship? Petty.

That's how it was for women marrying men in those days. Women needed a man to look after them so women would try to marry the richest man they could find. Most women didn't have careers like they can now.
