not only is this an awesome demo for the product itself, it's perfect for learning what different pickup combinations sound like..thanks so much for putting this out there!
Hi, does this model works for active pickups?, on their website schematics there's a small note saying the schematics for this models are not valid for active pickups, on the other similar model, the 5B5-02 doesn't say anything about active pickups so I'm not sure if that model will work with my EMGs, apparently the difference between this model and the 02 is that the 01 allows for serial configurations and the 02 only allows parallel ones, any ideas?

good point, never noticed that. It's probably what you're mentioning: There seems to be an issue with putting actives in parallel. Maybe if you send the Freeway Switch company a message they can explain why.
@ Thanks, I did actually emailed them and got no response after a month, I think the issue is with putting active pickups in series, not parallel, and according to the website that's the difference between the 01 and 02 models, with 01, the one you're showing here you can do both whereas the 02 can only do extra parallel configurations

@@Alex_Martz oh that would make sense electronically. When put in series it might result in no sound. It would put the e.g. Neck pickup ground into the + wire of the bridge And the built in preamp of the pickup is not made to have the signal from other pickups flowing into it. Therefore only parallel will work.
I was browsing at this switch online and found your video Georg. Very helpful video. Did you have to alter the pickguard cavity to fit the switch? Thanks Robby
Great demo! I noiticed that the wiring diagram for the Freeway Switch offers two different options for wiring with slightly different combinations of pickup and series/parallel wiring. On their diagram, there is an A and a B option. Which option did you select for wiring up your guitar? Thanks
4 года назад+3
I did version A, I think having bridge and middle in series is more useful than having all 3 pickups in series. Bridge and middle in series will kind of sound like a bridge humbucker.
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Bentlee Issac Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I selected the same wiring scheme as yours. But my rear tone knob seems not working with the normal bridge position. This is understandable because the scheme doesn’t wire bridge pickup’s hot pot to the rear tone knob. But my rear tone knob works reversely with neck+middle in series and middle+bridge in series. Do you hear it on your strat, too?
3 года назад
That's an interesting side effect. It maybe can't be avoided when having the middle and bridge selected. I've wired my strat with only one master volume and tone. I've connected them between the switch and the output jack (like on a regular modern guitar wiring).
@ Nice... I currently have an option to add the neck pup with a push-push. It's good - but I don't get the humbucker tones. Looking forward to getting the Freeway switch. Thanks for the demo. It swayed me.
would be evenmore versatil with switch to have the neck pick in inverse polarity, for the bridge in serie with Neck out of phase and Neck in serie with middle out of phase à la Brian May

those are good ideas, it can be added with an extra toggle switch :)
@ yes taking into account that brian may mainly use bridge in serie with middle for 90% of the time and bridgle in serie with Neck out of phase for metal rythm and middle in serie with neck out of phase for 80% of its solo (think bohemian raphsody)

yes, except, they have a toggle switch combined with a 5 way switch. I watched Tom Quayle demo his Sig and I thought "I got to have this middle and neck in series mode"
Wow awesome thank you! But can I ask what kind of pickups you have on the guitar? They sound awesome! Bare Knuckle have so many choices, I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm leaning towards the The Apache because I generally prefer a clean tone.

i got a question about capacitors, there are given 2 tone capacitors for middle and neck, but no values. it's hard to figure out since the common way is to use one for middle and neck and one for the bridge .033 and .047 or whatever. what do you think about that
4 года назад
The standard Strat has separate tone knobs for the neck and for the middle, with .022µF capacitors each, and no tone knob for the bridge. But if you install a freeway switch, you can use the same tone knob/capacitor configuration that you already have.
Do u have to have standard single coils for the switch to work?

On the website they also have schematics for HSS, or HSH pickup configurations. Of course, you can also switch active pickups with it, or e.g. 3 P90s etc.
Hey do you know if this switch would work with prewired controls like obsidian wire?
4 года назад
It'd be quite tricky to make all the right connections when using this switch with an obsidian wire harness. It'd probably be easier to just do a regular wiring without the obsidian.
Is this better then the Ibanez dyna mix9 switching system for versatility?
3 года назад+1
They're similar. I did the Dyna Mix 9 wiring on my Jaguar build, and installing the 10 way switch is a lot easier. But getting a 9 pin ON-ON toggle switch is a lot cheaper than the 10 way switch.
How this switch is not more popular is beyond me
