Thank you Phil for these nice tips! I always sank the tail. Today, I tried putting the mast forwards, and it paid off! I held more speed and kept planing through the turn. Thanks again!
Nice one moosh!!! Best 'usefull' gybe breakdown I've found. After just returning to windsurfing from a 25 year break (Hillhead/Stokes Bay blaster back in the day :) there is soo much highly detailed technique information out there now and to try and recall all of it when you have just unhooked and are bearing off is impossible! ...too busy hanging on to remember any more than one point! Also, if the only time I got try practise my gybing was at the end of a well powered up run, it would take forever as it''s winter here in QLD Australia and not much wind around at all, so this is perfect for me as I now work on building that muscle memory 100 times every day (I literally do 100 sim gybes a day on an old wave board I brought back from the dump). Working through all your videos and finding them invaluable, especially the windsurfing at home...thank you so much for posting. Love yr work.
I am a beginner from the Caribbean and your videos were decisive to inspire me to keep going and buy the equipment for further learning. When my skills improve, I will try to get your sponsors equipment.
Awesome videos. You explain everything very well. Consise, succinct and very easy to understand. All your videos have helped me to sail. Thank you so much.
Hi mate, awesome tutorial, you take your time use beginners words and make it easy to absorb, I. Ike your method and your demo rig, subscription coming your way
Dear Phil, thank you for your detailed videos! I will start to practice in the garden regardless of what neigbours are thinking ;-). You do it even in your frontyard! I saw that you know Hannes Unterweger. I met him in May in Palekastro. Hope to meet you someday at any beach across the world. Keep on surfing! Best greetings from Germany! Sven
Your "at-home" videos are unique and really helpful. I'm learning through the winter which means some days are just to rough for a beginner or my instructor is unavailable. As I don't yet own a rig, my "plank of wood and a couple of paint-rollers" rig is providing my neighbours with unparalleled amusement, for which they probably thank YOU :)
I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Ares Bowie thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hi Phil, probably like most sailors trying to nail the gybe I find myself watching too many videos which is counterproductive as everyone does it slightly different. I'm ok on port tack but have convinced myself I can't do starboard tack. With so much time on my hands I've decided to rectify this and your approach to this manouevre is perfect so you are now my go to tutor so thanks for taking the time to put this out there. Any chance of doing a duck gybe video? Love the cheeky robin grabbing sneaky grubs, totally ignoring you.
I have a video about harness here - ruclips.net/video/yfTNYs1mBPg/видео.html video about planing and footstraps here - ruclips.net/video/WB30KgpTnZ4/видео.html
GetWindsurfing windsurfing coaching Hi Phil, nice and helpful thanks for all your free work! 👏 but one foot straps and planning with ghost rig will be amazing... may you do it ?... 🙏🏻 i will sent wine or something to Hyling Island 😉
Always a lot to learn from your video! Thank you so much. This helps me correct so many mistakes of mine. Keep going. And one more thing , recently I trying to sail upwind(closed haul) without dagger board and I find it so difficult. Could you make video to tell us more how to sail upwind?
Excellent work Phil. I'm learning so much, I'll have to show you how to weld in return. Good to see you've had that shave. Also, is that you're baby talking at around 0:20?
can i ask something for jibe ? for example i am going to jibe and hook out than back hand move and i press the carve // should i pull my back hand this time ? if i pull back hand how much time ? very important for me
This is one of the most helpful gibing videos around simply by going back to a ghost sail

Genius! Thanks
You're welcome!

Can you please add a guy who show us the wind direction ?! ^^
With 2 meters of safe distance ! Of course !
Jibing is a down wind turn so it is no problem !
