I have studied up on Scandinavia and it revolves around 5 countries and that includes Finland! Part of the reason Finland is considered part of the Scandinavia because of the Swedish influence. The main difference with Finland is the language but it is also the not considered a Viking country but in fact it had the viking culture but to a lesser extent and i have read different books on Scandinavia. That includes the Kalevala!
