lifelong mcr fan here (though i'm only 25 lol). so cool to see a video on pencey prep or just hearing anyone talk about them and not bash them! i discovered that album when i was around 12 and am genuinely a fan of it. cool to see it get some love! better late than never
I met Frank in Tampa waaayyyy back in '04 during the Revenge tour when I gave up my bar to work the MCR rider backstage. In the 3yrs i worked at The Masquerade i met quite a few "rock stars" & was very unimpressed by the aura/self-importance some of them exuded. Not 1 member of MCR gave off a negative vibe. Mikey told me i was "very sweet" and the boys loved my Silver Surfer themed sleeve. They were by far the sweetest dude's with that type of following to play the venue in my time at the venue. Honorable mentions would be the singer from Sevendust (sorry I can't recall his name) as a really cool person. Melissa Ethridge would be another surprisingly. Also Flogging Molly. The most disappointing by far for me would be Phil Anselmo who played the venue with SJR and was just a huge prick as was their manager. Long live My Chemical Romance ♥️
I’m so glad to hear MCR are nice dudes. I never hear negative stuff about them when it comes to fan or venue staff interactions. Also Phil Anselmo check out lol, seems like a jerk.
Damnnn I'm surprised Alex and Geoff said that about the album, idk if I'm biased, but I honestly love the sound, the lyrics, there are very catchy songs, interesting lyrics, it sounds good?!
Frank iero is really an inspiration to me as a guitarist. I wish there were people in my area with the same music taste. Thx for making this video cause now he’s more of an inspiration to me
thank you for this! I was just thinking if the band's name was connected with the book or no, because it was also Billie Joe's fav book, and Frank is his fan... so cool how everything is clear to me now miss the 00's sm, though I was like 2 years old then hahah
Thank you for making this video! I'm nearly 25 now, been an MCR fan since 2012 when I was like 12, and of course got into Pencey Prep then as someone who became obsessed with anything even related to MCR. I love love love their album so much, it's genuinely so so good, I listen to Pencey more than I listen to MCR sometimes still, and my prized possession is a Pencey Prep hoody when Frank released some new merch a few years ago. I'd forgotten about Sector 12 - is the demo available anywhere online to listen to?
awesome video, i love pencey prep so much. i do want to add that i think it was actually hambone that wrote the lyrics to this album, not frank surprisingly! regardless of who the lyricist is, heartbreak in stereo is such a severely underrated album and it's great to see an in depth video on it :)
This isn't true, Frank DID write a couple of the songs and Co-wrote with Neil on Ten Rings and 19. Hambone wrote LLoyd Dobler, Don Quixote, PS Don't Write and Florida Plates. I'm pretty sure he wrote the lyrics to Trying To Escape The Inevitable. Neil Sabatino talked about it in an interview.
wow, didn't think I'd ever see a pencey prep video out there. great job, man, thanks for talking about this album!

its a cool band but i like his vocals way more on Leathermouth. Literally godly
He has good clean vocals, but his uncleans are sooo unhinged. Love him.
