Today i learned, how to sidescrape with VK 100.01. I was totally getting my butt handed over in nearly all brawl conditions. i was angling my VK too little, presenting my lower plate with too little ancle, and especially track underplate. 3 match later i scrape and bounce by no lie, several times more than i did before. thank you quickybaby for posting this!
well, he did fire 3 of his 20 APCR rounds there at the end against that T28. but, to be fair, I'd do the same. you can't let your shells bounce off in those situations.
Idg how people make profits in rounds where they fire premium rounds, if they're not premium. I can't load anything other than AP and HE if I want to be able to afford them next tank in the line
I've played quite a bit with both guns on this and I gotta say the 105 is more consistent (especially if you are facing tanks with weak spots you can exploit), but when the 128 derp canon hits it is devastating, especially when you're top tier. Not to mention the added dpm from the 630 HE rounds for shredding low armor tanks. Honestly tho I'm not sure which is best, probably just a preference sort of thing. I know right now I have the 128 equipped, but with the new MM hitting tier 8 heavies so hard I might switch back to the 105 for the better snap shots. My 2 cents.
I've honestly enjoyed this VK, it's quite an impressive vehicle honestly and I've been using the low tier gun as well. You can really troll the heck outta the enemy with both the gun and the armor so long as you know where to aim. It's been a very charming addition to the game.
As slow as the 100.01 is, one of the first pieces of equipment I put on was a spall liner. I did the same for my AT's & Japanese heavies. It DOES make a difference, especially if their are multiple arty's in the game...
I played WOT for a couple of days a few years back, quit because i was so bad it just wasn't any fun. came back to the game a couple of days ago after watching one of your video's, just got my first ace badge 20 minutes ago. keep up the good work
Seems like the new matchmaker makes grinding stock tanks that much more enjoyable. Plus you aren't forced to fully upgrade to be competitive. Your equipment of choice will eventually get the match to shine brightest in. GG.
This tank is a beast. I love it to its max. Only frustrating problem is that the big gun on this vehicle is pointless... +140dmg and +20mm penetration for -40% firerate and -30% gun handleing in all situations it's bad. The 105mm is the way to go, aim for the weakspots and sometimes use prem ammo, and you should be fine.
I use 105mm gun. I prefer having gun handling instead of big alpha, because it makes you much more flexible, even tho you lose some penetration, but you gain even dpm advantage over the 128mm.
The grind with tiger p was frustrating but bouncing An isu 152 with your back and a conqueror and a lowe at the same time while spinning the tank feels hella good
The VK100 is a monster, I love that thing. 60% win rate in mine, and even in T10 games, it can hold up pretty well. Just keep that copula hidden, although most T8's can't pen it.
don't quite have the Mauschen yet, but I fully upgraded the Vk100.01 P and I love it. The 105 still feels like a good gun, and the 128 makes it hit hard. That darn cupola is a bit of a problem, but it's still relatively thick. Much thicker, if not smaller, than a kv4's weak spot on its turret
It's not because the Defender has such a massive lower plate + people spam premium ammo while the gun can garbage it's basically hard to survive in unless you sit at the back of the map waiting for your enemies to be one shots.
No. Defender ain't shit. But it ain't OP either. It's true that Defender has massive lower plate area, however it can still be reversed-angling and giving enemy truly pain in the ass experience. The gun is not bad, it's typical Soviet gun. But it does has impressive 440 damage, that is NOT a small amount of damage in a tier 8 - and it's kinda OP in that department. In short, Defender is not "cancer", but it is an easy tank to play - provided the player knows how to play it :)
Any heavy tank has a problem when the enemy just fires gold, that's not a unique problem for the Defender. The lower plate doesnt matter if you use the tactic every tomato in a Defender/IS-6 uses which involves never letting go of W, and just face hugging the first tank you find.
Erm...the Defender does have those massive weakspot cupolas on the roof of the turret you know plus if you're in a taller tank you can just shoot down into the turret roof if he's facehugging you.
I played the VK 100.01 with both, the 105 and the 128, and imo the 105 is way better. Its a lot more flexible, has better DPM, better soft stats and can keep enemies tracked. The only advantages of the 128 are higher pen, alpha dmg and caliber for overmatching swedish TDs.
At the moment I am procrastinating after unlocking the VK 100.01, the extra loader means that I can shove the Brothers in Arms on my Tiger P crew up my backside, which actually has me leaning towards going up the american heavy line (starting with the mighty T-29 at tier VII) before continuing with the Maus line. At least the extra loader configuration stays consistent for the rest of the line.
I just "acquired" this beauty a few days ago & play about 30 battles. Context : - im an average player. - In those 30 battles : 50% with tiers 8 and lower, 50% with upper tiers 8 -means 9 & 10. - after a very good start at 70/80% (MM in my favor in first 10 battles), i do stabilize around 53-54%. First impressions : - armor is fantasic ; you easily block 3000/4000 dmg when you angle well ... in the good days - stock gun 200mm penetration is sometimes hard to play, even against tiers 8. Think twice against tiers 9 & 10 ;) - now competitors know the weak spots ;) - this is a slow tank : 19km/h max on flat ground. Sometimes you arrive late on 'le theatre des opérations" => big maps, hills ... - this tank is expensive to play with (repairs, ap rounds) even with premium account. - team behavior : very often your team mates expect you to go to the front, even in tiers 9 & 10 battles ... i do assume ... but it's sometimes inappropriate & annoying. - i do enjoy playing with - this VK100 is not OP in my current configuration. This is the difference in me in my heavy tanks and people that can sidescrape. I am hyper aggressive in my heavy relying on my frontal armor more than the angling while I dish out death and despair to the enemy team. The sidescrapers sit next to corners and let the dumber people bounce off them. I more or less have adapted to avoid engaging sidescraping opponents because unless I'm coming from the side I just won't win the engagement.
honestly the vk10001p is really powerful, I'm not having any trouble playing with it. shells bounce off the cupola so reliably and if you angle right it's the best tier 8 super heavy
i like my VK100.1 - yeah - i know - it is slow - but great armor when used correctly - and - u can crush medium and light tanks, if u manage to trap them against a wall, large rock or hill...
If the IS6 already has problems with the current tier 8 heavy's I can imagine now....220 mm armor on that copula which means the IS6 cant pen that with APCR(217)... which also means power-creep :)
Check your Facts Before you talk... 195~ mm non angled Lower plate armor + the last time I remember the IS6 is not a medium so getting that lovely side armor is not going to be a thing unless its a 1vs1 and your enemy doesn't have the A/D keys...
condemontanelas please don't highlight yourself if looks like your an idiot. You'd be surprised how little most drivers angel. I don't have any problem penetrating the underside without premium most of the time and in a city you can get sides so often
The VK 100 was my first tier 8 tank (I've added two more) and it is a beast of a tank. The 105mm gun is great in a tier 8 match but is the ruin of this tank in a tier 10 or 9 match. I'll take the 128mm gun unless I am playing in a tier 8 skirmish.
Very nice review. I have only had 12 battles with this tank, but it is already my highest experience scoring tank. So much more resilient armor than my IS3. I am working my way up to the Maus. I still have the 105mm gun and it works well. After watching your video, and looking at the specs, it is probably a better choice than the slower 128. But I'll eventually get one anyway.

It seems like 90% of my battles in this tank are against tier 9 and 10 tanks. I've been using the big gun and it just bounces off those big T-10's. After seeing this I'm considering using the smaller gun, but using more premium rounds. I'll have to check the cost, but I think the smaller shells will be cheaper.
The problem with using the 105mm on the VK 100,01 P is that in patch 9.18 tier 8 tanks are only top tier about 20% of their battles while they are bottom tier in about 50% of their battles. This is based on 200+ solo pub battles in regular matchmaking tier 8 tanks during the 7PM to 11 PM time period when the server population is at its highest. So, the 105mm gun isn't as effective against tier 9 & 10 tanks that this tank will see most frequently unless you want to spam premium ammo all the time.

I’ve had sum fun games in this with just explosive loaded just destroying tracks and then angling perfect and seeing what’s the most damage I can block while everyone else returns fire. Blocked 9,000 damage so far. The 105 works good on a mk1 light maus 😂👍🏻
No , it is still in game and it got buffed , it got "removed" from the Maus line and now it leeds to the Pz vii as the VK 45.02 B ( thats what QB ment )
Rancy Howard well, it's basically a medium that is a bit too fat XD Just like the T26E5 Patriot or FCM 50t. Both are labeled as heavies, but no one would try to drive it like one, because they are just overweight meds.
All these "weakspots" are still more than the highest medium tank pen on T8 with standard rounds (226 on Centurion) so yeah, well balanced tanks. Load premium or go home, even for the "weakspots".
I never get the people who despise the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A. It's my favorite tier 8 German medium tank. Oh, and this VK is OK with the Ausf. A's 105mm gun, but gets way better with the 128mm, imo.
I have everything researched but the top gun on this tank. Stock gun struggles against tier 9 and 10 but can be devastating to lower tiers, just don't get surrounded.
Hey QB you should check out the vk 45.02 A again. It received some significant armor buffs when the new german heavies were added. It's armor is as good, if not better than the tiger 2's now.
I personally enjoyed the VK 100.01 quite a bit. The Mäuschen however... Not so much. The turret simply has too many weak spots against the penetration on the teir of tanks its expected to fight.
Problem I have with the Vk 100.01 is the speed. Some battles that are heavily focused to one side the VK can shine if you pick the proper side from the start. When things don't go as planned and heavies don't go the standard heavy route... you're out of luck because VK is to slow to reroute. Those battles happen quite often in WoT. Also if you procrastinate and wait for things to unfold, you're in a similar problem, you can't get to the conflict quick enough to be viable enough to help your team before they're destroyed. A top speed of 20 kills this tank for me... its all or nothing when picking your area to fight in... if no one shows up you're deadweight your team.
Question all, (doubt QB will see this, and he's probably good enough not to feel it so bad), but has anyone else noticed a really nasty tendency towards one sided wins/losses since the new patch, not quite sure on the cause but really disheartening.
Today I finally encountered Quickybaby in the game. He was on the other team in his Stridsvagen TD (either the tier 9 or the premium tier 8, not sure). We won 15-4 :)
I find it funny the amount of mixed reviews on this tank in the comments. Half say its trash and half op. But it is a middle ground tank that can block almost anything but can be killed easily. Almost any t8 med is short enough to park along side and melt this tank and can easily outrun the turret in the open. Key to kill it is don't engage it near a wall and key to survive in it is that walls are your friends easy as that.

You get to skip a lot of fun guns because you can jump to the top gun. I like to try guns that feel more efficient even if they lose pen. Like the amx 50 90
what are your equipments on vk 100? i only use a rammer and wet ammo rack. any tips for the last slot? and i use the 128mm gun cuz it just feels more appropriate for a heavy.
I was lazy and I was doing my last heavy tank mission where you block, deal, and/or take 6000 damage added up so I got into my kv5 and sat behind a rock and took blocked 7000 damage on malinovika
Great heavy for brawl support with that quick tier 8 gun and decent armor but the top hat is a deal breaker lmao. That T28 should not have charged that minimaus (x a better T28 driver should kill minimaus no problem.

Just goes to show that using the top gun on a tank is not always the go to choice. Sometimes the stock gun can give benefits.

yeah, i have 203 mm pen on my stock tiger 2 and i think it is a really good gun, i killed e 100, maus, and type 4 heavy in my first battle

It seems like 90% of my battles in this tank are against tier 9 and 10 tanks. I've been using the big gun and it just bounces off those big T-10's. After seeing this I'm considering using the smaller gun, but using more premium rounds. I'll have to check the cost, but I think the smaller shells will be cheaper.
The problem with using the 105mm on the VK 100,01 P is that in patch 9.18 tier 8 tanks are only top tier about 20% of their battles while they are bottom tier in about 50% of their battles. This is based on 200+ solo pub battles in regular matchmaking tier 8 tanks during the 7PM to 11 PM time period when the server population is at its highest. So, the 105mm gun isn't as effective against tier 9 & 10 tanks that this tank will see most frequently unless you want to spam premium ammo all the time.

I’ve had sum fun games in this with just explosive loaded just destroying tracks and then angling perfect and seeing what’s the most damage I can block while everyone else returns fire. Blocked 9,000 damage so far. The 105 works good on a mk1 light maus 😂👍🏻

No , it is still in game and it got buffed , it got "removed" from the Maus line and now it leeds to the Pz vii as the VK 45.02 B ( thats what QB ment )
now it has tiger 2 armour but with the same speed and hp/t :D

Just like the T26E5 Patriot or FCM 50t. Both are labeled as heavies, but no one would try to drive it like one, because they are just overweight meds.
Interesting. Using the 105 instead of the 128 is the same reason I use the 100 over the 122 in the IS -- higher ROF, and better aim values. :)
All these "weakspots" are still more than the highest medium tank pen on T8 with standard rounds (226 on Centurion) so yeah, well balanced tanks. Load premium or go home, even for the "weakspots".
I never get the people who despise the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A. It's my favorite tier 8 German medium tank. Oh, and this VK is OK with the Ausf. A's 105mm gun, but gets way better with the 128mm, imo.
In my 4th game in the VK100.01 I blocked over 15k

I have everything researched but the top gun on this tank. Stock gun struggles against tier 9 and 10 but can be devastating to lower tiers, just don't get surrounded.
Hey QB you should check out the vk 45.02 A again. It received some significant armor buffs when the new german heavies were added. It's armor is as good, if not better than the tiger 2's now.

I personally enjoyed the VK 100.01 quite a bit. The Mäuschen however... Not so much. The turret simply has too many weak spots against the penetration on the teir of tanks its expected to fight.

Problem I have with the Vk 100.01 is the speed. Some battles that are heavily focused to one side the VK can shine if you pick the proper side from the start. When things don't go as planned and heavies don't go the standard heavy route... you're out of luck because VK is to slow to reroute. Those battles happen quite often in WoT. Also if you procrastinate and wait for things to unfold, you're in a similar problem, you can't get to the conflict quick enough to be viable enough to help your team before they're destroyed. A top speed of 20 kills this tank for me... its all or nothing when picking your area to fight in... if no one shows up you're deadweight your team.
I bet the VK 45.02 A will return as an OP medium heavy tank in the WG Premium Shop.

Question all, (doubt QB will see this, and he's probably good enough not to feel it so bad), but has anyone else noticed a really nasty tendency towards one sided wins/losses since the new patch, not quite sure on the cause but really disheartening.

Today I finally encountered Quickybaby in the game. He was on the other team in his Stridsvagen TD (either the tier 9 or the premium tier 8, not sure). We won 15-4 :)

I find it funny the amount of mixed reviews on this tank in the comments. Half say its trash and half op. But it is a middle ground tank that can block almost anything but can be killed easily. Almost any t8 med is short enough to park along side and melt this tank and can easily outrun the turret in the open. Key to kill it is don't engage it near a wall and key to survive in it is that walls are your friends easy as that.
apparently 220mm of rounded cupola armor is considered a 'weak spot' in a tier VIII vehicle

You get to skip a lot of fun guns because you can jump to the top gun. I like to try guns that feel more efficient even if they lose pen. Like the amx 50 90

what are your equipments on vk 100? i only use a rammer and wet ammo rack. any tips for the last slot? and i use the 128mm gun cuz it just feels more appropriate for a heavy.
I was lazy and I was doing my last heavy tank mission where you block, deal, and/or take 6000 damage added up so I got into my kv5 and sat behind a rock and took blocked 7000 damage on malinovika
Great heavy for brawl support with that quick tier 8 gun and decent armor but the top hat is a deal breaker lmao. That T28 should not have charged that minimaus (x a better T28 driver should kill minimaus no problem.
