the biggest problem i have with this situation is that smite just had an event where you could buy bundles with very special skins (tier 5 skins), just before they anounced smite 2. a lot of people were hyped and bought them, mind you these bundles are about 80 dollars. Then a month later they anounce smite 2 is a thing and all those skins we just bought aren't going to be ported over so basically all we've done is buy the skins for a couple of months and a few 50% off coupons. that felt very scummy. They knew smite 2 was a thing and still went on with that event without telling us antything.
It is not mandatory or scammy to buy cosmetics in a Free-to-Play game. I've played Smite for over 12 years, since the beta came out, although I've had a lot of fun, i never thought the skins were worth it to spend money on it. I haven't been kick out, banned or anything for not buying skins in the game. We have to understand that if we buy something in a service (let's say Warframe or Fornite) the things that we buy are not really ours, once the server go down, finito.
@@LeManuithat's not what I'm saying though. People can buy skins all they want I don't care. However the game must be fair and give the info available. Them releasing a special skin event right before announcing smite 2, with skins that don't carry over and without mentioning anything about smite 2, now that is scummy imo
Thats literally every game with ingame purchases. Every sports does this but worse, where right at the end, you buy a bunch of cards that are the "Team of the year" players for a higher price and then months later, you get a brand new game and nothing carries over. Every game that has in game purchase and a sequal, RARELY does anything get carried over.@@camael4209
@@camael4209 your just finding something to cry about. they are under no obligations to disclose what the future holds in terms of smite/smite2 they were nice enough to announce smite at swc and what the next year looks like for smite. As for the people who bought the T5s that's on them the moment they bought the skin. Also your whole "However the game must be fair and give the info " is bullshit nothing in all of humankind will ever be fair
Honestly while it does feel like a final cash grab at least smite is still gonna be available. For those who are mad they can just keep playing smite 1.
Something you fail to realize is that smite was never a steam based game more people play smite off steam on pc, and majority of smite players are on consoles. The steam thing compared to Dota isn’t that good of a comparison tbh. Smite has crossplay with a bigger player audience(console players) Dota doesnt
I've played thousands of hours and could not have said it better myself. Entitlement of the highest degree. Super hype for Smite 2 and glad i could help fund it in Smite 1, and love the Legacy Gems idea (waaay more than i thought we would get haha). Same people complaining are the toxic people that I pray to the heavens really do never touch Smite 2. That would be awsome lol
I've been playing smite since I was 12 which means next year I would have been playing the game for a decade and to be honest most members of the community are very excited it's just a very vocal minority that's upset and although I am too a little bummed that I won't be able to use my old skins overall I'm pretty excited but yea most of us know it's way too tall of a task to Port over 1600 skins to a new game but yeah I just want to say overall it's a very vocal minority most ppl are excited
Big smite player here. In my opinion, this is a whole new game. New mechanics. More itemization and more options for every class. Less limitations. It's gonna be so good.
I know what I’ll say will not matter but I do agree with you, I myself had indulged in purchasing skins and probably a bit too much, but I am not too upset about losing those skins for a quality boost, especially that discount which I think is far too generous for a game that (I think) will be free to play, either way I’m excited for Smite 2 and I am more than confused about the whole hassle over the skin shenanigans (I apologize for my shit grammar and spelling).
Calling this the new overwatch 2 is insane!!!!! Hirez communicated everything! Explained reasons and just wanted an overall improvement experience. Smite 1 is OLD guys! It feels OLD! At the end of the day skins are just cosmetics.
Did you watch the introduction to SMITE2 and all of it's features? Which included new particle effects, dynamic lighting, and better cosmetics? Really excited to lose all of my cosmetics for better cosmetics :)
@@random789654 Nah I'm excited for fundamental changes to the way, items, relics and several gods work.
Also, new players trying the game, the 5 new gods they are introducing, the new god designs they could come up with less technical restrictions, the game not running like shit, bugs getting fixed faster, and yes, while we are at it, the game not looking like shit. For crying out loud, they had to delete the Mana Chalice because they cannot fix a bug that stops them from adding new consumables, so they can add two new types of wards.
@@ConcerninglyWiseAlligator fundamental game changes being really not all the different from seasonal changes??? Only big difference is AP and AD itemization like league which may or may not be good. I think it'll be more diverse and fun no doubt bugs are Hirez issues and not engine issue. Take for example the pause button still being F6 and not F10 on display. If they're recoding from ground up it'll fix a lot of those issues, but thats not because of the engine it's because they're recoding it. I'm excited for Smite2 but Hirez is also lying about the difficulty of creating skins in an attempt to dissuade away from reimbursing people 1:1 and I'm not impressed with what they're offering for potentially splitting the community. I'd rather Smite remain Smite and Smite 1 be discontinued because we already have an extremely small community which I don't really think a new engine will KEEP players. It might attract new players though
First of all, I want to say that I played Smite since season 2, so I started playing around 9 years ago. I have A LOT of skins and I've spent quite a few money on the game. Even if that's the case, I'm still hyped for Smite 2, since it's kind of like a new era for me. I have a few thing that I would like to say about the video. 1- What you are saying "all smite players are complaining" it's wrong, there's a lot of hype in Smite community and most players understand Hirez cannot bring the thousants of skins from Smite to Smite 2. Also, they already talked about legacy gems, so we know we'll get back our gems in Smite 2. 2- Even if I don't mind losing a lot of skins in Smite 2, I have to disagree with the whole "tipping" thing you said, because it's just wrong. Buying a skin is paying my money for their work, and it's not different from buying food at the restaurant. Complete opposite of tipping, it's not a free donation. That's why I can understand why some people is pissed (I don't agree with them, but I can understand). 3- I do completely agree on what you said about Smite 2 needing to happen, and the fact that Smite 2 is a good way to bring new players in. The money we spent in skins in Smite 1 financed Smite 2, so we gave the game new life. Like you said, it's a very good investment in my opinion. 4- Last thing I want to say. It doesn't matter what community we talk about, there is always people that will complaing and be mad. That's the people that usually makes a lot of posts online. But that's a minority of the community, most players are hyped and happy about Smite 2, we just don't make posts about it.
Okay now I need to rant. Someone that doesn't even play the game is coming into the scene to complain about a vocal minority. What a joke. Is Smite dying? Yes. Is it because it's old? Well that's just a stupid argument. League is not older than Smite and its player base is solid. You know why league is doing so much better than Smite? Because HiRez is a shit company that doesn't know how to run a professional league, not to mention have some awful people run parts of said pro league. League's pro scene is one of the biggest things in gaming throughout the year. The SWC was just last week and it probably didn't do well. HiRez also makes terrible mistakes when balancing the game and putting effort into content that no one asked for, which leads them to push out more skins so they can recover from content they put out that flops. Siege was very popular then died when they never updated it. Domination was very fun when it was out, then remastered, but they killed that game mode off too. Then there are all the changes to items and Gods that are usually terrible until they fix them five patches later. Then they try to dip into other markets to make other games that also flop on arrival because Smite players don't want to play these games, they can't market to save their lives, so guess what happens then? More skins are put out to eat the cost and effort. Another thing, is that the most popular gamemode is Arena. Its the casual mode in the game and something everyone plays when they first learn the game. However, there's no push for players to move into other content, thus Arena sees a majority of players there, but they only balance for Conquest, the main moba style gamemode. The game is dying because HiRez make terrible decisions on multiple fronts and it kills the game. The people you're complaining about are babies, yes. But I can understand why they're upset when HiRez says "we can't port these over." Its not because they can't do it, its because they wont do it. They know which skins are popular so hopefully in development and in the future they bring over legacy skins that were some of the most popular. Most players don't want all the skins either because half of them are recolors anyways. The thing I will be most upset about, having played since alpha, is if they don't fix bugs and have a better balancing teams. There are memes in the community about Fenrir and Nox because the development team have, in the past, sucked at their jobs. We just want them to listen to us. All that being said, don't throw your hat in the ring if you have no real insight into why some people are skeptical of Smite 2. Its baffling how argent you are in this video, even if you're ranting about seeing some people complain over skins. Skins in this game is NOT like tipping your waiter. The game is free, I don't have to put any money into the game if I don't want to. Skins aren't that big of a deal. However, if I DO spend on the game that I can play for free I would want to see some return on investment. For me, and I'm sure other people in the community, it would be that the Devs and management would do things in the game that benefit us. instead what a lot of people see is them blunder the hype the game had, slowly kill it over the years, and then keep it sputtering with crossover events and spend way too much time and money in the art department with skins. Don't get me wrong, we love the art team and the great skins that get put out and all the art around the game, but when it comes to gameplay we are sorely wanting more.
telling someone to stf u cuz they aren't on the ins and outs of a problem in itself is a problem. I don't need to know how good or bad of a dev on other problems HiRez is in order tosay this one problem that I AM informed on doesn't need to be pressed, vocal minority or not
@@hyde5295 But boiling it down to just the skins not being ported is a strawman that you are then applying to the whole community. You don't see how that's problematic? I can be upset about the skins situation because of other factors than just "why don't my skins get ported I paid money." I'm more upset that the money spent on skins didn't go to improve the game and now that they are not going to be ported, what am I getting for my 11 years of investment? Its a free to play game so its not like each download is $60 for them like CoD or Halo like you used in your video. That would cover some costs. Yes, I am getting a whole new game in a new engine and as long as they write the code from scratch and fix bugs and be a good company over all I can be satisfied with that. Right now there's enough reason to be skeptical of HiRez from my 11 years experience with them. My point as an outsider looking in is that you're saying the only problem is that skins aren't being ported, which as I laid out is far from the only problem with the company. Anyone who actually plays the game knows that.
@PhantomBracku well I may be lying to feel better, so don't call me out, man lol. I am also much higher. I'm lvl 204, I've played on all platforms so I don't know my exact playtime
L Take. Assets can migrate from UE3 - 5. Fortnite did it, in its beta it was on UE3, UE4 was developed in tandem with UE3, and they migrated it from 3 to 4 before release. Right now Fortnite is on UE5, all of these migrations happened over the course of patch releases. There isn't a Fortnite 2, nobody lost their skins in the transition, Epic did it without trying to resell everyone content they already paid for and no one probably even knows this because of how seamless it happened. Next, even IF they couldn't do it, most people would not be upset if they didn't refund our skins with a condition. Legacy gems can only be used in SMITE 2 if you purchase things in SMITE 2 because they can only pay for half the amount of an item. So even then, we don't REALLY get our money back for this transition. IF Hi-Rez cared, they would port over the expensive skins like the T5's and most players would be fine with just that. No one is asking that they port over the re-colors or low effort skins of the game. Lastly, all this SMITE 2 release does is divide the playerbase further. And I know the REAL reason they're doing it. It's not because of the skins, its because of the Ultimate God Pack. I'm calling it now, but I think Hi-Rez regrets ever releasing the Ultimate God Pack for SMITE. No other MOBA lets you instantly unlock new playable characters forever as long as you spend 30 bux. And I guarantee they regret that business decision. So it will probably be absent from SMITE 2.
Nah bro your take is the L HERE let's talk about this one they admitted that they possibly could bring them in they aren't just copy pasting the source to the new engine they are literally remaking the whole skin and animations again there so not the same fortnite had the same people work on said skins in a different engine this smite team has lots of people who had nothing to do with lots of the older skins forget to mention that there will be stuff you can buy 100 percent with legacy gems there will be skins that can be unlocked for both games for free and stop pretending you are just mad it looks way better rather have new gods with better t5 and you never know once they have fully finished the game with the whole roster of gods could go back and add them
DOTA 2 has all its heroes available for free idk fam 🤷🏽 but yeah, the OP had the dumbest take that I could only expect from a zoomer. When you PURCHASE something you should be able to keep ownership of said item be it digital or physical. Companies get away with shitty practices like that because people will suck them off infinitely. If Smite 1 becomes no longer playable ala OW 1 then they've essentially stolen from their playerbase
Smite 1 will eventually shut down, anyone who thinks other wise is just coping. The game is already on life support (How you ask do i know? Well Just look at how they are handling Smite 2 with Gems and the whole bundles people are complaining about that got released a month before release) The community will either all jump to Smite 2 becasue its better. Or quit because they lost the things they love and smite 1 has no player base, also when they see they are getting 0 $$ from Smite 1 cause they arent developing it anymore (why would they continue to develop the older game and the worse game and upkeep servers paying money to do that when its a pure loss) Im also fully expecting them to increase the price of gems, or increase the gem cost of skins by 50% or more, effectively making the "50% off with legacy gems" a complete illusion. @@somebitchfromluckystar
The good thing is Smite 2 isn't replacing Smite 1 like CS 2 did to CSGO. (Not yet at least) So if they have fun in Smite 2 but not a lot, Smite 1 will still be around. I'll play Smite 2 sure but l like to see where it will be a year or 2 after its official release.
The problem is: they've shown us they're going to be basically copying and pasting skins as recolours for the new game, all of year 11 Smite 1 is about getting recoloured skins for both Smite 1 and 2 (showing they can port the skins from the old engine btw) there's THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN SKINS on Smite and the whales want their money to be valued, I ain't even someone with a lot of skins but Hi Rez has shown they can port the skins, so if it would take a much longer period of time for the game to drop with everyone's skins then I think the community would have been okay with that. Not to mention they are generalizing the hell out of Smite so it will basically be a 3rd person League/Dota with less uniqueness to it other than it runs on consoles
I can agree, its not that the skins aren't transferring over that's the problem, its the fact that they CAN do it but refuse to do it. Hi-Rez laziness. I'm sure the entire community is in agreement when 1600 or whatever skins is too much, but they aren't even porting over t4 and t5 skins, some of which people donated to charity for. People who are crying about skins is too much but people who say skins aren't as important than game quality are just as bad. Game has been out for 10 years its doing fine with the quality of life it has now. Skins and cross-over events kept this game alive just as much as gameplay. Where else are they getting revenue to fund this free game? 50% off couples is a slap in the face to the community that got them this far.
the skins coming in year 11 are already in smite2 they aren't porting skins from smite to smite2 its the other way around. also they wont be recolored...
@@TitanTerrastoya They literally are porting skins and they are recolors. For example, the new king arthur skin advertised in the upcoming divine legacy event is a recolor of his demonic blade skin from early last year, chaacs is a recolor of his righteous hammer skin from 2018, ymir's is a recolor of his bellyache skin from 2017, the list goes on. Every skin on the list is a recolor except the bunny nu wa skin, which is a censored version of her playful bunny skin from 2018.
i just find it funny its only a 50% discount. that alone is the biggest reason i cant get behind defending anything from Hi-Rez and im on the side of the people complaining. They could of just given you a % of your gems and let you buy skins fully, but instead you have to REBUY 50% of every skin. Its not the same as "you get your gems ion smite 2" its worse because someone who spent 2k now HAS to spend ANOTHER 1k just to get the value of what they had, back. for the E X A C T same game, thats modernized. How has League and Dota both graphically updated and modified their map for "F R E E" and never recharged for skins and yet Smite, one of the lowest played MOBAs, doing it, and people are justifying it and shaming people complaining about it?? Lets also address a big elephant in the room people are failing to realize can happen. Skin Prices. Who the fuck is to say they wont increase EVERY skin price by 50% or more, effectively making that "50% off" just a pure fucking illusion.
I have IRL friends that I can't get through to. I have told them basically everything said here the moment we got all the details but they say some dumb stuff like "We just want them to fix smite 1" and then after telling them they will receive EVERY GEM THEY EVER SPENT they still refuse to give it a chance. Saying stuff like "Its a moba sequel not a real game so they can't not give us our skins. And we don't want the gems we want our skins."
Not to mention a reboot or sequel is so much healthier for growing a new playerbase, only fixing Smite 1 will just retain MAYBE the few thousand active
You get FIFTY PERCENT of every game you spent. FIFTY FIFTY please learn to fucking listen. Learn to read. YOU DO NOT GET EVERY GEM YOU SPENT. you get FIFTY PERCENT OFF new store items. If a skin costs 1k gems, and you spent 1k gems. You now have to buy 500 gems to BUY a skin. and thats assuming they keep 1:1 on Gem costs. If they increase skin costs by 50% (which Im HIGHLY expecting them to do based off this greedy idea) then you effectivey get 0% off as you are having to buy the "exact" same gems you originally had to buy. Stop defending this shit. Its actually so fucking weird that people are defending a company doing something purely greed based, and calling the community who isnt having it, children or stupid. When this is one of the few times the community has a right to be upset.
Bro I am a active Smite player and yes it's a lot different jungle camps are changed lanes are different the whole buy system is revamped and all character animations are changing I could go on and after knowing that I'm arguing with the players on how ridiculous they sound
I’ve been a huge fan of smite for the past 7 years, and have countless skins. I agree with your sentiment here completely and I couldn’t be more excited for Smite 2
I know he didn't already make a mistake less than a minute in. They distinctly said it was NOT a overhaul, it is a "True sequel" Made an entirely new smite from the ground up in UE5. There isn't a single bit of smite 1 code in smite 2 as put by the devs.
bro talks with an acc with 400 recolored skins, one pays odyssey pass, limited events... hi-rez is well know to be money hungry, just watch the previous battle pass and skins basically recolors... and what about their new game legacy pass? recolored tier 3 skins from smite 1 like youre bascially blind thinking this is a good move besides you said it yourself their numbers are bad. Because the game runs awfull, nothing new or eye catching just same and reworked events. Smites numbers are low and what do they do? split the already low community in 2 to make it even lower, what do they do to solve that? piss off 70% of their community with not being able to transfer skins due to the amount of work it takes, okey then let me present my case why not instead of putting effort in trash copycats of hearts of stone/ overwatch / fortnite ... (smite trashy card game/paladins/realm royale) they put more effort in their primary game? youre basically eating what theyre feeding you and as a costumer because yes you are a costumer you should have your own opinion, I refuse to play a game that is bascially the same with upgraded graphics and not being able to use my skin. you know whats funny tho, they said you will get your gems back but only 50% of them you will get the other 50% if you pay the founders pack, oh and the skins on smite 2 are going to be 2x what gem prices are supposed to be, so either way for you to have the same amount of skins, you have to basically burn the credit card. and talk about their rewards, icons? a pass with recolored smite 1 skins? comeone ..
People are fools, let them bootlick a multi million dollar company that just remade same game in a better engine and washed all of their existing playerbase money spent down the drain.
Though this comment was hard to read through, I agree. I don't care about skins, I care that the company sucks and have ran this very fun game into the ground. The fact that they can see what works and what doesn't, and continue to do things that don't work is baffling to me. I mean they blundered the pro scene, they killed the fun adventures, they took a gamemode no one wanted and merged it with one people loved but they did nothing with, now they're trying to keep the game afloat with crossover events that get a lot of people hyped, but now we wont be getting those skins anymore. So what was the point in having them?
@@TheAce5399 the essay I wrote has 0 structure haha the video made me mad which led to me not putting effort into presenting my case properly. But I agree with you
I have been playing SMITE from before it launched. I used to play LOL and tried DOTA and can honestly say I prefer SMITE over them and there fan base. While I do run into a few annoying people on SMITE it has never been as bad as the people that play LOL and DOTA. So I invested my money into SMITE. I am super happy that they are finally investing that money into an updated game. I agree with you 100% the skins and packs that people pay for are investments in the game. I have never felt like I needed to buy the skins I just wanted to do my part in investing in the game. So the SMITE 2 announcement is awesome to me.
They have to make money on Smite 2 somehow and personally i would rather have the game in my hands in a couple months rather than another 10 years tediously porting over every skin from smite 1 and this is coming from someone who has at least $1000 invested into the game over 9 years.
I agree somewhat, smite 2 is necessary. However, i disagree with the tipping analogy. Hirez has made it clear that buying cosmetics isnt tipping, its buying a meal. So much of smites design is now based around getting you to grind for cosmetics using your wallet or energuy. There are tons of different events and menus and missions happening at the same time, all of which are solely designed around aquiring cosmetics. No wonder these wallet players are upset, hirez made it clear with limited time skins and collabs that cosmetics are end game content for their moba. They've built it like that.
I've spent a couple hundred bucks on the game but I don't care. These cosmetics don't mean nothing if the game is dying. But to be fair it hasn't felt like SMITE has been dying, it feels very active. However the games visuals have really put me off over the years, and matched with all the cartoony, silly skins and crossovers, the games overall visual direction feels and looks very lacking. A clean slate in UE5 is just what SMITE needs and I hope they do their outmost with this move to ensure a professional look and feel to the game. It's a game when GODS duke it out, so I wish they take the game more seriously in that aspect.
I'm 32, the majority of my gaming life games weren't all live service games that were continuously updated over time. That being said, League of Legends updated its gameplay and graphics over time without making League 2.
LoL is also not a graphically intense 3d action game. A lot of the models in LoL don’t even look correct from a normal perspective and are distorted to fit a top down view I get the hate for live service games but Hirez is doing nothing but W’s with smite 2. A RARE sequel that makes sense
FIFA and Black Ops are not and were never expected to be long-running continuous update games like Smite, DOTA, or LoL. When LoL overhauled their own proprietary engine they overhauled all their skins at no cost to the consumer.
I've played smite since the initial alpha and beta. Stopped playing on and off the last 2-3yrs, primarily because the game hasn't evolved. An engine overhaul could make a lot of things better for the game and increase what the developers can do with the game. I think the people who are upset are just ppl who think they should be able to get skins free in the new game. Had the devs announced the game and all skins moving over, those ppl wouldn't have reacted negatively. But bc they'll have to rebuy some skins, they are upset. Which isn't valid for them. Smite is a free game, developers need to make money, skins is how they do it. Gamers are just way too entitled nowadays.
I would personally rather see smite die. A smoother transition like the transition of csgo to cs2 is what much of the player base expected. Skins not porting over is a fat L but it is what it is. But i think the biggest thing is just simply the community as a whole. Severly toxic, unhelpful to new players but would rather trash on them at every chance they get, hyper-competitiveness even in casual game modes. Things like that will not change for Smite 2. So no new players will not be joining, and people that feel scammed will also not want to contribute to the new game because theres no garuntee the same transition wont happen again onto the next smite (if there is one). All the writing is simply on the wall here, its time for smite to take its well earned rest. *ive played since S1 btw*
i agree, (i also dont play smite, anymore) buuuuuut. to mention another studio, GGG is having MTX sharing between POE1 and POE2, and im assuming GGG has less man power then Hi-Rez. like, GGG just threw it out there like it was the simplest and most obvious thing to have. i dunno.
Funnily enough ow2 carried over skins. And I think cod has been doing it to. I don't have a side in this but I do feel like some skins should carry over slowly and should be free if owned already.
A lot of people are pushing for T6 skins to carry over, which I can agree with, but a 2 engine hop is strides more work then OW1 - OW2 or any COD game transfers, which all run on the same engines as their predecessors
@@hyde5295 Then just give the fucking people gems to buy 1:1......................... why does it have to be 50% off when we damn well know they are considering increasing the gem costs or price of $$ to buy gems, to counteract the "discount" Why give people only a 50% discount of gems, rather than letting them rebuy skins of = value. They are still adding new content, make content "not" purchaseable with gems such as Battle Passes, or event things that way they "cant" use gems on them.. This defending this crap is just cringe because the whole thing boils down to they COULD of done right by the players, but they didnt because a whole month after a big sale they announce their new smite and that those skins wont be in the smite, they KNEW before announcement when they sold those bundles that this was going to happen, it didnt happen within the 1 month. They withheld that info because they KNEW no one would buy the bundles if that were the case. Then they could of done right by just saying "All gems you purchased will carry over to Smite 2 and you can buy any skin with those gems" but instead you have to PAY more money to buy = value of what you "had" Turning 2k USD into 3K USD (assuming again 0 price hike up which anyone with a brain knows based of what has happened, IS on the table) This isnt something to defend hi-rez on my guy.
The gem refund only allows 50% off, I don't think the issue people have is with the loss of cosmetics as much as it is that while smite 2 has been almost ready for announcements they have been throwing events for things like t5 skins which are £80 a bundle and then annouce smite 2 afterwards and that the skins won't be transferring over
This is exactly the reason. I'm hyped for smite 2 but the t5 event only a little while ago did feel like a cashgrab. They never did events like this and now they do, only a month before announcing smite 2.
My issue with Smite 2 is the same issue with Smite 1. They want to add pretty things to the game instead of making the game better. The game is 10 years old and there are bugs that have been around for just as long that they refuse to fix. I’m worried that starting in a new engine will just add a new batch of bugs that they ignore while still adding more micro transactions.
Well tbf a lot of those bugs and limitations came precisely alongside ue3 and flash. Now that ue5 is in the play it's actually plausible to make the game better. It's a relatively close mindset to think that they're only adding pretty things when some of its out of their control
@@ralphcabiling1314 ok I can dumb it down for you then. Something worked before. Then stopped working. That means it can work, but they’re ignoring it. One example is Poseidon’s pool. When you’re targeting, with some skins it highlights the enemies within the damage range. On some skins it doesn’t. That’s been an issue for at least 4 years. It can be fixed, being that it works on some skins and used to work on all, but they don’t fix it.
@@QueLoKevin no, you are are not "dumbing it down", you are saying something dumb tbh. You probably don't know how coding works. It's not just "Something worked before. Then stopped working.". Smite is a very old game, a game that has been coded and managed by different teams and different people over many years. When this happens, "spaghetti codes" happens. Wich basically means that the game is now very hard to code and to revise. If they try to fix something, they might break something else, something that they didn't even code, but an old team did. That's why a new game, in a new engine, made by a new team is a very good thing. They'll have a easy time working at the game and bugs will be much easier to fix
@@hexnancy1196 I'm just going to say that if the port of Smite to UE5 is anything like the Ark Survival Ascended port, expect the bugs to still be around. Developers can be lazy and it take a lot of time to go through all the gods and their coding to fix issues that are there. Not to mention the glaring hitbox issue within Smite, though that could be an engine issue. I think OP has plenty of reason to think that HiRez won't fix bugs because there are known bugs in the game that they haven't touched in years or they didn't get fixed for years. That being said, I can be hopeful that they actually take the time to polish the game, iron out bugs, and bring in enjoyable gameplay.
I am really excited because it’s brand new and no more spaghetti code. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on this game (not even kidding I have a problem). It would be cool if they transferred the tier 5 skins which there aren’t that many so it wouldn’t take long for that and I’ll wait for those if it does. But it’s realistic, I am aware that it would be ridiculous to port all of the skins. They really accommodated by giving us the same amount of gems that we have spent on the game for skins and they also included skins that you earn in smite 1 season 11 ports to smite 2 which is great. I love WoW but I hate blizzard and overwatch is dogsh*t.
While I think there are some overreactions for sure, I disagree with a lot of points in this video. "playing a game should be like tipping"; I don't see what give you the authority to decide how people should feel about getting skins, or why it should be different than getting a map pack in Halo 3, it's something that changes some visuals and makes people feel good, it increases their enjoyment of the game, that's why they spend money on it, you don't tip because it increases your enjoyment of the food you ate (at least I don't). My understanding is the 50% is to make the costs equivalent purchasing power, which to be fair they still didn't have to do, but they aren't increasing the value for gems spent, they're keeping it the same. I could be wrong on this, but that was my understanding from their statement. I don't know if pointing to DOTA and LoL are your strongest options here, considering neither of them have done this despite being around longer, their numbers are probably higher because they're more serious games, Smite decided to court a more casual audience, and many of the more serious players have left for better games for that like LoL. I don't think people are all sure that releasing the game in a state where it looks better, but has much less content (aren't we only getting like 20 gods??) is the best way to save it. Well, it has happened before, skins ported from OW to OW2, also you say never before, but also Smite runs off a very recent economic model based off LoL, so the very concept of a sequel outside of OW2 hasn't really been seen before. Again, I'm not sure how important the new prettier looks are, League hasn't had one of these, a lot of champs look pretty bad, and dota 2 is downright disgusting, that being said since smite is more casual maybe how it looks is more important than in these other games. But it does feel like there is WAY less content with such a tiny pool of gods, and for the most part very mechanically simple ones too.
Nothing is stopping Hi-Rez from increasing the base skin price by 50% or more either. Its entirely possibly this whole "you get all your gems and 50% off all purchases" ends up being purely an illusion because the base price of everything went up.
I’m so glad somebody is talking about this because it’s so goofy that people are upset about this. On the bright side if these people don’t play smite 2 the new community will be so much better 😂
Smite community is filled with toxic and entitled people lmao. Trust me those who actually give a fck about the longevity of SMITE or understand how businesses work aren't making a fuss about the skins. Wanting SMITE to succeed isn't about the stupid skins but rather having a healthy playerbase, an updated launcher, new reworks and gameplay changes. I've been playing since beta and don't care about the skins quite frankly, its been 10 years and ive enjoyed using my skins. Id much rather have a better overall game than SMITE 1 with all its bugs and small dying playerbase.
Yall making excuses for multi-million dollar companies to be lazy is why gaming is in the dire straights it is right now. This isn’t like going from Battlefield 3 to 4 or Street Fighter 5 to 6. When sequels for those games come out no one expects their content to carry over because you’re truly getting a new game and you knew the life span was going to be a few years at best. Live service games are not the same. Bar the severs shutting down and the company going under you assume the game will be around for a bit. Are you telling me that if LoL and Dota made LoL 2 and Dota 3 and told their fanbases that have supported both over a decade they weren’t getting ANY of their items they worked for back none of them would be mad? Both games have been around for over 10 years and millions have invested so much time and money into both games and have literally grown into adults playing those games. As someone who’s played smite for 10 years, Hi Rez is a fairly greedy and lazy company. They’ve been slowly raising the prices of skins over time and added that scummy chest system to the game which has become popularized and eventually added battle passes too. They’ve seemingly never learned from their balancing issues and I can guarantee that will carry over to the next game. Then they gave some bs PR lie about it taking too long and everyone just at it up. Overall I don’t think people would be as mad if it weren’t for that slap in the face of legacy gems lmao. But yeah keep on bootlicking y’all
Watch them increase gem $$ pricing or skin gem costs by 50% effectively making the 50% off coupons from past gem purchases completely irrelevant too, based off their greed ive seen recently, and the things they have said, and lied about (246 person years BTW) its 100% on the table and chances are more than likely, it will be a thing. People need to expect the cost of things to go up in Smite 2.
1600+ skins and the majority are recolors. Animations need to be redone regardless because of the engine on ALL skins (Including default). Tier 4 & 5 are unique and have new animations and there are also more Tier 1, 2, & 3 skins than there are 4 & 5. They're estimating 250+ work years to create those skins. The design and color concepts are already complete. If the god is in the game the animations are complete for tiers 1/2/3. 250 work years is longer than it took to make the original game. Cosmetics are sooooo much easier than the bulk of that work. Those skins that are recreated are also something they can sell. People keep getting this idea that if they remake the skin and give it to people that had it on SMITE1 that new players won't buy it. Where is that coming from? It's not a sunk cost Don't let them lie to you. I will most likely play SMITE2 and I am glad I am getting legacy gems. Their showcase was horrible and amounted to awesome upgrades such as "Dynamic Lighting". Get real that's horrible and I really don't want the already dwindling playerbase numbers split by greed and lies about some cosmetics
@@TacticalSouljah808 core game isn't different except the fact that its porting from UE3 to UE5 Game code isn't just copy pasted from one engine to another, ab 80% of it is getting rewritten from the ground up Overwatch 2 ported engine to their own proprietary engine to another version of their own proprietary engine The things you are comparing to aren't even closely comparable, and you would be able to understand that with a little more understanding on how game development works Skins are also code, that cannot just be ported over They have models for them, yes, models are only about half the coding behind each skin
Core game is 100% changing, what are you talking about? Relics not being a thing anymore, active items now taking a spot, completely animation over hauls. Saying this isn't a new game is the exact same thing as saying every single first person shooter is the exact same game. @@TacticalSouljah808
its not only a graphical and engine update, there are some major game design changes too. its truly a sequel, why would skins transfer to the sequel. cod gun camos dont transfer to the sequels.
The fan base is hyped af huh? There is a small VERY VOCAL portion of the community that is pissed. Yes, ur vault as fuck. There r people that are freaking tf out but the community is hyped af. I've been on since beta, trust me, we r hyped.
you contradicted yourself so many time. 1 you say skins are a tip to a server at a restaurant. no they arent. its a product youre buying smite 2 isnt just a graphics update. using map packs doesnt make sense since buying a map pack in halo 2 will not grant you access to it in halo 3...while true, halo 2 and 3 are different games entirely, different stories, different characters, different weapons..etc...smite 2 is still just a moba with the same characters same maps for the most part, although it was built from the ground up its the same. the only saving grace is that theyre keeping smite 1 online alongside smite 2. i dont care about the skins since i can play smite 1 whenever but its kinda shady that the only reason theyre not bringing the skins is because they wanted to build from the ground up. and at least you get gems that make everything 50% off! but most of the skins in the forseeable future are just recolors of existing smite skins that you have to REpurchase. if youre gonna announce that players cant bring their skins and that their only compensaton is a 50% off coupon at least make the smite 2 skin showcase NEW skins. again im not mad, but the way they presented everything was stupid asf and i can see why people are mad after announcing everything is gonna be brand new and 100% better, the first skin showcase is literally all OLD skins lol
Well said 👏 I’m glad there’s people challenging these literal toddlers and that there’s players genuinely excited for Smite 2. I think I started playing in 2016 or 2017, and I play on and off. Mostly off but Smite tends to be very buggy and it’s frustrating. I have a lot of skins, not every skin but a good portion since I’ve been playing for almost 10 years. I’m very excited about Smite 2, the visuals that I’ve seen so far look amazing. I don’t know much or really anything about game design but considering how old the engine and code are this is the best decision to save Smite. There’s probably issues that the Devs can’t fix due to the age of the engine. It’s just better to start from the ground up and I hope it’s successful. I would really love for it to be successful. Smite is only moba I was interested in to play long term, so I would be sad to it die especially if it were due this kind of entitlement
Not only are they giving literally 100% of your Smite gems back to use in the brand new game, if you get one of the SMITE2 founders packs, they're DOUBLING the amount of legacy gems you'll get in Smite2. Meaning you're literally getting 2X the amount of money back that you've spent over the last 10 years. AND not to even mention the fact that they ARE porting select skins over and ANY smite 1 skin that gets ported is available for purchase 100% with your legacy gems. Meaning you get any smite 1 ports COMPLETELY FREE. I have almost 3000 hours in this game, and thousands of dollars spent. I now get the chance to see those thousands of dollars go towards the revival of my favorite game over the last decade, i literally could not care less about the skins I have if it means SMITE will be rebuilt from the ground up BRAND NEW and better in every way imaginable. But even so I'm literally getting 2x the amount of money back I've spent over 10 YEARS. the amount of passion, love and happiness I've seen from this dev team is more than I've ever seen from ANY game company in my life. And it's the reason I've been playing for the last 10 years, and WILL BE PLAYING for the next 10 years and as long as i can after
@jovan9989 you can't buy anything? You can use them to literally buy 50% of almost all new content in smite2, and as I just said, any Smite1 skins that get ported in the future or are already in the process of being ported, you will be able to buy them 100% with legacy gems. You're literally getting the entire game and almost all brand new content half off for months if not years, and smite1 ported content completely free. Tf you mean useless
@@ImmortalMarshmallow you cannot buy a thing with legacy gems, it is a coupon that you can only use when you again buy "real" gems. Also that old skin being buyable with legacy gems has been announced only today and it will be few skins and it only happened because of the backlash.
@jovan9989 you're literally just making things up now. They've already announced it is a new currency. every dev has said almost word for word "you will receive legacy gems equal every every single gem you have ever used in SMITE1, and if you get a founders pack, those legacy gems will be doubled" Yes its essentially a 50% of coupon for almost everything BRAND NEW in the game for months if not years. That's the entire point, don't get what's bad about that. And the smite 1 ported skins are not just something they "made up" due to backlash. They announced the porting of the most popular smite 1 skins AND making them 100% purchasable with legacy gems during the very 1st full dev talk for SMITE2 that was over 1hr long
The people who are ragging on Smite 2 for this don't actually like smite as a game. The original is barely holding on, they said on their patch notes for the upcoming season that they had limited space for consumables, on top of the myriad of issues. If you enjoy smite, then this nothing short of good news.
we are not all same like those players,i understand why devs doing it and im not mad. im hyped for smite 2 and smite 1 still be working so i dont see issue here, i will be play smite 2 and smite 1 too.
I’ve been playing Smite for longer than I like to admit. 10 years longer. I’ve dropped quite a bit into in game purchases. Not only am I hype for Smite 2, but they have also promised to provide certain types of in game currency to take 50% off of a purchase for each one you’re given. They’re distributed based on your purchases in Smite 1. Super transparent and straightforward. The Smite community is the fucking worst. Grow up and stop gaming if you’re gonna complain about money spent being obsolete in the future.
Smite is a smaller player base. And of that. Those that comment on twitter is even smaller. Twitter isnt real life. And this is the best thing to happen to smite.
Thankfully you mentioned that you don’t play smite! Your entire opinion is invalidated. As someone who has played smite since the beta and has archon Thanatos (you probably don’t know what that is since you don’t play the game) it is very saddening that my skin will not transfer. Regardless, Smite 1 will inevitably shut down after Smite 2 launches and gets its main employees working on it. So don’t argue “oh just play smite 1 and not 2”. The issue why people are upset with skins is because Smite 2 is going to be the same title essentially with new graphics and code. They’re going to resell the same smite 1 skins with new graphics in smite 2. This is already established with the Devine legacy event where they are porting over some of the skins to be in Smite 2 that you will have to use your legacy gems for even if you already owned them. You can say “oh they aren’t gonna do that, they’re gonna make new skins!” until they run out of new skins to make, like the dozens of recolors of rare skins in Smite 1. Majority of the players are excited for the new game and will get over their skin issues in time along with myself
I got 2k hours in smite and I have not heard any of these complaints you talking about so shit I mean point me in the right way plus the devs said they are giving us legacy gems worth for all the shit we bought
I dont get this mindset at all "Oh its fine they decided to just wipe everything their loyal players spent their money on" They should have taken every step to try and make this better for their investors but instead they took a path that exclusively hurts those who have invested into the game to attract new players
@oscarcamarena1052 not really. You get a coupon. They could give you trillions of gems, but if you dont spend a dollar more, you may as well have zero gems. You CANT use them till you spend even more money
and who is to say they arent increasing the price of gems or the gem cost of skins by 50% aswell. Effectively making that Coupon LITERALLY irrelevant. People are defending this and its fucking wild to me. How are we defending a company scamming people 1 month before announcing smite 2, then shitting on people complaining about being deceived, then only giving a 50% off coupon for previous purchased goods for new goods. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if someone took this to court and set a new precedent.@@thethiccestboi7648
You shilling for a multi million dollar company and calling people entitled for expecting skins in a live service game to keep being usable is pathetic. The draw of buying skins in a live service game is to have a collection of rare and exclusive skins, telling people that their collections can disappear in a few years removes any point of giving them money for most people. Sure, you can say smite 1 still exists, but let's be real, the playerbase will now be split, and slowly bleed over to smite 2, while smite 1 will die and be shut down in a year or two. They're killing their own game so the new game can suck more money out of the same people. You can argue that that's what normal game sequels do in the first place, but this isn't a normal game, it's a live service that people expect to keep growing while keeping the things they earn/buy intact, that's what live service games advertise, remove that, and you remove the entire point of treating it differently than a normal game. You calling the legacy gems generous when they're literally just a coupon to spend more is ridiculous. The legacy gems are not a gift, they are a tactic to target people that have payed in the past and get them to pay again. It's not them doing anyone a favor, it's them whaling for more money, and they're talking about it like it's some grand gesture to their dedicated fans. The unreal 5 skins are obviously going to be more expensive anyway, since they're already increasing prices and now the skins will be even more detailed, so you'll likely end up paying the same or more that you do now even WITH the discount. "generous" would be giving players a flat amount of actual gems based on how long they've played the game, or giving us a couple free skin unlocks for gods that we've hit diamond with in smite 1. I would have rather had nothing than a sneaky monetization tactic disguised as a kind hearted show of appreciation. And on the subject of porting old skins, stop acting like it's so complicated. They're just 3d models that already exist. They can be re rigged for the new animations and any missing ability effects can be substituted with the new default effects. The voice lines are already done, so no need to re record unless they add new callouts. The "246 years" of time they say it would take is just hilariously misleading. They're talking about bringing in a new god every couple weeks, with new animations, a new unreal 5 model, new kit, new everything, and you're buying that it would take an ungodly amount of time to rig a pre existing 3d model? Is it extra work? Yes, but it's also the entire reason most people give them money for skins in the first place. Stop making excuses for big companies, they don't give a crap about you and they'll kill this game too when they feel like it's not making them enough money.
Bruh the skin thing is a part of the many problems with smite 2. Why are u talking about something that u dont know about. Theres a lot more to this stop talking if u dont know shit.
This whole video could’ve been a minute long but just like the people you’re talking about, the yapping is insane, you don’t even play the game to act with this entitlement. Plus the people complaining are the minority. Ridiculous video.
I think it's just a vocal minority of entitled assholes. I have spent like $300 dolar in my 6+ years of playing the game and I'm hyped AF. I'm playing MORE Smite now.
I’ve heard overwhelmingly positive things from the community regarding smite 2. I’m hyped
the biggest problem i have with this situation is that smite just had an event where you could buy bundles with very special skins (tier 5 skins), just before they anounced smite 2. a lot of people were hyped and bought them, mind you these bundles are about 80 dollars.

Something you fail to realize is that smite was never a steam based game more people play smite off steam on pc, and majority of smite players are on consoles. The steam thing compared to Dota isn’t that good of a comparison tbh. Smite has crossplay with a bigger player audience(console players) Dota doesnt

Also would wish to say that Smite has had a toxic community for aslong as its been around, so I can’t say the complaints are shocking, just bizarre
Calling this the new overwatch 2 is insane!!!!! Hirez communicated everything! Explained reasons and just wanted an overall improvement experience. Smite 1 is OLD guys! It feels OLD! At the end of the day skins are just cosmetics.

bugs are Hirez issues and not engine issue.
But that's a minority of the community, most players are hyped and happy about Smite 2, we just don't make posts about it.
yeah dude is full of it he does not play smite at all im not sure where we saw this but seems like click bait and it got us and just like that we gone

Well Just look at how they are handling Smite 2 with Gems and the whole bundles people are complaining about that got released a month before release)
The community will either all jump to Smite 2 becasue its better. Or quit because they lost the things they love and smite 1 has no player base, also when they see they are getting 0 $$ from Smite 1 cause they arent developing it anymore (why would they continue to develop the older game and the worse game and upkeep servers paying money to do that when its a pure loss)
Im also fully expecting them to increase the price of gems, or increase the gem cost of skins by 50% or more, effectively making the "50% off with legacy gems" a complete illusion.

@@jack23325 the anubis skin isnt a recolor, the bellona skin isnt a recolor, the jing wei skin isnt a recolor the list goes on
i just find it funny its only a 50% discount. that alone is the biggest reason i cant get behind defending anything from Hi-Rez and im on the side of the people complaining.

I’m so hyped for smite 2. I will miss my smite 1 skins however my excitement for new skins, gods, and gameplay mechanics outweigh that.
Bro, I'm here for Smite 2, IDK what your point is
I'm just peeved that people are making that mistake when they talk about the game.
bro talks with an acc with 400 recolored skins, one pays odyssey pass, limited events... hi-rez is well know to be money hungry, just watch the previous battle pass and skins basically recolors... and what about their new game legacy pass? recolored tier 3 skins from smite 1 like youre bascially blind thinking this is a good move besides you said it yourself their numbers are bad.

I am super happy that they are finally investing that money into an updated game. I agree with you 100% the skins and packs that people pay for are investments in the game. I have never felt like I needed to buy the skins I just wanted to do my part in investing in the game. So the SMITE 2 announcement is awesome to me.

How much money does CSGO have compared smite? Not taking that into consideration is insane 🤡

A lot of the models in LoL don’t even look correct from a normal perspective and are distorted to fit a top down view
I get the hate for live service games but Hirez is doing nothing but W’s with smite 2. A RARE sequel that makes sense
imagine fifa or black ops give money and skins every game

@@hyde5295 Then just give the fucking people gems to buy 1:1......................... why does it have to be 50% off when we damn well know they are considering increasing the gem costs or price of $$ to buy gems, to counteract the "discount"
Why give people only a 50% discount of gems, rather than letting them rebuy skins of = value.
Then they could of done right by just saying "All gems you purchased will carry over to Smite 2 and you can buy any skin with those gems" but instead you have to PAY more money to buy = value of what you "had" Turning 2k USD into 3K USD (assuming again 0 price hike up which anyone with a brain knows based of what has happened, IS on the table)
This isnt something to defend hi-rez on my guy.
Glazing is real
The devs announced that we'd get a gem refund for every single gem we purchased or earned. I don't see what the problem is 🤷♂️
The gem refund only allows 50% off, I don't think the issue people have is with the loss of cosmetics as much as it is that while smite 2 has been almost ready for announcements they have been throwing events for things like t5 skins which are £80 a bundle and then annouce smite 2 afterwards and that the skins won't be transferring over
This is exactly the reason.
@@hexnancy1196Real
It would be cool if the s2 or s3 of smite2 they port all the t5s
Idc about skins which is why i didn't spend money on them. I understand the concept of microtransactions
It's not a sunk cost
Don't let them lie to you.

It is a video game
The fan base is hyped af huh? There is a small VERY VOCAL portion of the community that is pissed. Yes, ur vault as fuck. There r people that are freaking tf out but the community is hyped af. I've been on since beta, trust me, we r hyped.
you contradicted yourself so many time. 1 you say skins are a tip to a server at a restaurant. no they arent. its a product youre buying
smite 2 isnt just a graphics update.
using map packs doesnt make sense since buying a map pack in halo 2 will not grant you access to it in halo 3...while true, halo 2 and 3 are different games entirely, different stories, different characters, different weapons..etc...smite 2 is still just a moba with the same characters same maps for the most part, although it was built from the ground up its the same.
the only saving grace is that theyre keeping smite 1 online alongside smite 2.
i dont care about the skins since i can play smite 1 whenever but its kinda shady that the only reason theyre not bringing the skins is because they wanted to build from the ground up. and at least you get gems that make everything 50% off! but most of the skins in the forseeable future are just recolors of existing smite skins that you have to REpurchase. if youre gonna announce that players cant bring their skins and that their only compensaton is a 50% off coupon at least make the smite 2 skin showcase NEW skins.
again im not mad, but the way they presented everything was stupid asf and i can see why people are mad after announcing everything is gonna be brand new and 100% better, the first skin showcase is literally all OLD skins lol
any gaming community is this way lmao
Well said 👏
I’m glad there’s people challenging these literal toddlers and that there’s players genuinely excited for Smite 2.
And it's the reason I've been playing for the last 10 years, and WILL BE PLAYING for the next 10 years and as long as i can after
You do understand that those legacy gems are basically worthless and you cannot buy anything with them? And skin prices are so insane nowadays.
@jovan9989 you can't buy anything?
Legacy gems are literally 100% of your money back for every gem you've purchased or been GIVEN for free..
200% if you get a founders pack
@@ImmortalMarshmallow you cannot buy a thing with legacy gems, it is a coupon that you can only use when you again buy "real" gems. Also that old skin being buyable with legacy gems has been announced only today and it will be few skins and it only happened because of the backlash.
@jovan9989 you're literally just making things up now.
They've already announced it is a new currency. every dev has said almost word for word "you will receive legacy gems equal every every single gem you have ever used in SMITE1, and if you get a founders pack, those legacy gems will be doubled"
Yes its essentially a 50% of coupon for almost everything BRAND NEW in the game for months if not years.
If you think this is bad you should see what r/destinythegame and the vocal destiny 2 community is capable of 😂
I agree, it's not that deep if they can't then they can't till there able to man 🤙
i played since alpha, if youre upset about skins grow up lol.
I dont get this mindset at all
"Oh its fine they decided to just wipe everything their loyal players spent their money on"
They should have taken every step to try and make this better for their investors but instead they took a path that exclusively hurts those who have invested into the game to attract new players
They give u ur gems back
@oscarcamarena1052 not really. You get a coupon.
They could give you trillions of gems, but if you dont spend a dollar more, you may as well have zero gems. You CANT use them till you spend even more money
@@thethiccestboi7648 as someone whos spent over 50000 gems im completely fine with this
and who is to say they arent increasing the price of gems or the gem cost of skins by 50% aswell.
It's sad I hate the community on the game I love
Bruh the skin thing is a part of the many problems with smite 2. Why are u talking about something that u dont know about. Theres a lot more to this stop talking if u dont know shit.
This whole video could’ve been a minute long but just like the people you’re talking about, the yapping is insane, you don’t even play the game to act with this entitlement.
Plus the people complaining are the minority. Ridiculous video.
If the whole outrage is over skins it’s pointless. That to me just shows those players never learned the games mechanics at all and are bad players
I think it's just a vocal minority of entitled assholes.
I have spent like $300 dolar in my 6+ years of playing the game and I'm hyped AF. I'm playing MORE Smite now.
