Curious, when you plaster an actual face, it pops right off and can cure overnight. Why must it dry overnight on the mold, or can it also pop off and cure overnight?
+sharon hanlon you could try drying it with a hair dryer...I️ wouldn’t recommend painting it while on the mold because then the moisture would be trapped between the paint and plastic mold and might not be able to dry properly. Another thought... you could try removing the mask from the mold after a few hours, once it’s strong enough to retain its shape, and then it would dry faster because it would be able to “breathe” on both sides...hope that helps!
You can sand it lightly with a fine grit sand paper before applying paint and a clear coat. And I have drilled small holes in mine before, so that I could run wire across the back to hang it from. It worked best when I drilled the holes after painting and clear coating it, since the plaster was stronger when coated. Hope that helps!
Well done video!! Thank you for sharing this!!
I loved doing that project :)
putting the strips on the inside of the mold and the surface will be smooth
Samantha can you do the straps on styrofoam face molds?

Do I need saran wrap for the face form or should I leave it without the wrap?
Any way to speed up the process? Can you paint the mask prior to removing the plastic mold?

Well how did it go?
Is there any way to polish the plaster after making the mask, and is it alright to cut holes in the mask after forming it?
