I just got this pedal a week ago and I’m really impressed with it but I know there’s ways (like you’ve shown in this vid) to build better (custom) patches…would really like to see more content on this pedal. Thanks so much for this post.
Nice tutorial dude :) Im from the Philippines and I got recently a Boss Gt-1 This helps a lot, more video's and tutorials about boss gt-1 pls :) rock and roll
Nice! Does it sound much different with the tube screamer? And does this unit handle other pedals pretty well? Although, I’m hoping to have everything I need all in one. Still thinking of just staying old-school, building a nice little pedalboard. But this seems a lot cleaner, quieter, and I like the presets. 🤘🏻🎸
@@heyjarrod Yes. The Boss gt1 is not so good If you likes a heavy distortion.. But, with a real tube screamer the distortion sounds better, more "analogic".
@@rodrigo147able Oh, that’s one of the main reasons I’m looking to get this unit, or just another pedal maybe. I’ve had the old BOSS DS-1 forever, but now I’m getting more into modern metal, even maybe black metal. I like that chug. So I thought the cheapest way might just be to buy a new Boss pedal, the metal zone. Var got a nice metal sound with his GT-1. Sounded similar to some of these newer plug-ins, like STL, or Fortin. Thought about going more digital, software. But I’d like to have everything in front of me, not having to tap on a computer screen or iPad. But there’s got to be a way to make it chug, without using a tube screamer or boss pedal? 🙊 Still seems like the best for its price. A couple of new pedals, and a pedalboard, cables, power, all that’s gonna cost more than 200 bucks. Are you pretty happy with yours otherwise, and do you find most people having to use some kind of overdrive to get a more modern metal sound? Thank you!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🇺🇸
@@heyjarrod There is a guy named Fabinho Lyma, he works for BOSS and has a youtube channel. In his distortion presets, he uses an overdrive pedal too (BOSS OD-1). Here is his instagram: instagram.com/fabinholyma/ I think that for playing modern/death metal with a BOSS GT-1, you will need to use a tube screamer/overdrive pedal too. The sound in a youtube video is very different of the sound in a real situation, like a concert or a rehearsal. I use BOSS GT1 to play Bullet for my Valentine with my band, and with a tube screamer pedal the distortion sounds amazing!
It sounds good, but only on my amp's lead setting. On the clean mode it sounds terribly gainy with a really high level top stack. Is there a way to take that out and move it to mid and low stacks?
Sounds great threw my Valve amp but going threw my pa mixer into bose speaker and sounds terrible. I change the cabs to mixer and still no good do I need to buy the boss gt1000core
There are loads of ways to do this - the technique depends what you're trying to achieve. Do you want to make your patch louder without distorting more, do you want it to distort more, or something else? What does your patch look like already?
@@var_guitar I always compare my friend's zoom gfx1 to my GT1. His distortion sounds more distorted and louder. I tried to increase the treble and levels but it doesn't sound like my friend's ZOOM GFX1 .
@@var_guitar is it just the distortion that is subpar? is everything else good enough? i hae no analogue gear to compare and dont have enough experience as well. will gt1 be enough, as long as i can get a distortion pedal? are teh amps and cab good enough?
I think it depends on what you're trying to achieve. The different amp models vary quite a lot in quality and often the default speaker model for a given amp doesn't sound right. I really enjoy the GT-1 as a Swiss army knife tool that does a lot of things really well and it's great as a starting off point for getting into different effects and amp styles. I'd say I'm like 80% satisfied with the distortions. Run an OD model into a gainy amp model, tweak the speaker to taste, and you'll get a really good tone.
Hi sir.obviously, the sound is processed here.coz when I'm using the same settings on my gt1,it's a world of difference. And I just hate it.mine is just plugged direct to input of an frfr powercab .My question is simple:do I really need an interface and a DAW like audacity to obtain that awesome tone here?thanks 4 your reply.
I promise didn’t do any additional processing to the sound. You don’t need a daw or interface. A couple thoughts: if you’re plugged Into a powercab, make sure you’re on “line out/direct” in the global settings; make sure your powercab doesn’t have any cab emulation active… that way you’ll hear the cab emulation from the GT-1 and not from anything else. Good luck
@@var_guitar It's on lines/phones from Output select. Is there a "Global Settings"on the gt1?or you mean Master Setting?damn,I still can't figure out how heavy and fat your patch sounds while mine is so thin and lacking gain too at same settings as yours.Im using gt1 speaker sims and the powercab in frfr mode.please help.thanks
I think you need to put your cable on the RETURN jack cause you are using a pre amp on the gt 1. RETURN jack is to disable the amp nad only the speakers are working just what i heard from others
Hey i just got me this gt1 and i wonder if you could give me some advice how to sound like linkin park... im fallin for their music and just wanna play it... could you help me out?
My best advice, if your aim is sound like a specific artist, is to try and find information about what gear they used during the era you're trying to emulate, and then set up the GT-1 accordingly. Here's an article I found about Linkin Park's early gear. www.guitarchalk.com/brad-delson-amp-settings/
I'm stuck a step one haha What am I doing wrong? When I press exit and enter the only option that comes up is 'Write'. I'm on P70 that already has a sound, would that be an issue?
If I have the GT-1 on its own power supply without other digital pedals, then no I don't have noise problems. If I have it on a daisy chain, though, then sometimes I will.
I own the Boss GT-1, and overall I'm very happy with it, but yes, one complaint I do have is digital noise, mostly on some high gain pre-sets such as the Metal DS setting. I tried the built in noise gate, it does help, but does not get rid of all the noise. I run the unit on its own power supply. Any further suggestions on how to reduce noise?

I'd love to hear you singing metal, must be a real polite tune.
😂
Could demonstrate more of other tones in Boss gt 1?
Very nice. I have a "real" Tube screamer in my setup.. The sound is amazing!
Lucky devil! I'm considering getting a real one, or alternatively a Boss SD-1, which is also hotly recommended 😎

the easiest way to troubleshoot that is probably going to the Menu and messing with the output setting
I have a question. Im a newbie and confuse. Can i practice with it using headphone no cab and laptop? Electric Guitar + Headphone + GT1.
Thanks! (:
Yes you can. No amp required! I often use my GT-1 with just headphones.

How to solve the problem while swith on the pre amp have noise if you didnt touch the string of the guitar

wow so good; please explain how to set up to go from clean to metal tone. thank you
Glad you liked it! There are many videos showing how to go from clean to metal tone, but I'll consider making one of my own.
helped me a lot
Thank you!
Do you have more videos on engaging the noise suppression feature?
I don’t but that’s a good idea, maybe I should make some!
What about plugged into an amp. Cause for some reason it doesn’t sound good in an amp this way. I almost hear the clean tone underneath it
If you plug into an amp you need to set the output mode accordingly
How do you save it
Great video

its odd that my nux mg20 sounded way more natural than my boss gt1 in dirty sounds..gt1 sounds like muddy and less punch..

The P patches are set at the factory and can’t be changed. You’ll want to go to a patch starting with U (for User… as in, you!)
