Seems the death knight rune system is harder to maintain than they expected. Feels like they're just phoning it in, and the rune allocations + cards feel pretty uninspired.

Mining casualties was one of the best early game cards printed for DK, it was even run in hand buff despite not benefitting from the buff. This is an autoinclude in hand buff at least and you might just run both
in hand buff its pretty solid at generating corpses for the spellstone
its like one of the best card in that deck... its a 2 mana get 4 corpses for your buff cards to be active....
The ghoul that cost 1 less says that snowboarding is super safe because he has been injured just once, the card that freezes and draws is the time he got injured xd

Eliza is an actually really well designed card, it works perfectly with the little minions and desthrattle synergies of DK, but the runes... they are horrible.

Hey frost can play some minions. I'm gonna play some 2 frost death knight 1 damage extra per minion and death rattles. Although I can't play frostwyrms fury so sad.

Imo they need to be printing more reasons to play not rainbow, and they should have the standard be two rune cards, like archetypes being double frost, double blood, double unholy, and rainbow. That way the archetypes are less restrictive.
And assuming the usual dk people are playing is rainbow for card design
Runes just shouldn't be a thing. They add nothing. Death Knight has a random constraint on their decks that no other class has to worry about. Not only do they have the smallest card pool, but their card pool is divided into three groups that you have to invest into in order to use. It's just a design nightmare, I don't know how the class got greenlit like this
they do one supported deck per class per expansion.
The optimal way is to just give DK enough cards to catch up with the other classes and make all the archetypes viable

Warlock actually might run a small freeze package with Glacial Shard and Soul Freeze because it gets a 1 mana 4/4 and 3 mana freeze 4 draw for 4 if Slippery Slope is combined with Soul Freeze!
Here is the play:
turn 4, felfire bonfire.
Turn 5 Deathrattle Tourist, then SoulFreeze, then 0 mana frostbitten freebooter.
End result; you froze 3-9 enemy targets, and for everytime you you got less than 9 freezes, you dealt 5.
I think this is good.
your deck will be a 2x frost 1 unholy to play the buccaneer which can also make your sacrifice imp way stickier.
i also think cryopractor can be strong in a zoolock deck, a 3/3 that buffs a minion with 3/3 on your board and adds the freeze synergy over either one or two turns
With Handbuff Pala Charge Windfury Pirates being a thing i doubt many Decks will be viable the first week(s) but as soon as Blizz nerfs all the otk combos that can deal 30-60 dmg in a single turn we might see some cards being really good.
Eliza is in my opinion so insane.
At a base level besides buffing every minion, without any combo it basically also upgrades you hero power.
Deathknight has access to cards to spread deathrattles, the new minion that gives deathrattle minions reborn and Eliza can be discovered for both blood and frost.
If you even hit one of these suddenly your hero power goes to 3/1 or 4/1.........
Additionally as a warlock you can also use her. The tourist triggers her instantly and also double, when also playing the reborn minion you get it four times with a 3 minion combo.
Suddely having +4 attack on all minions as either class that both have their sources of tokens (such as DK HP) this can quickly hit critical mass.
The reason why totem shaman fell of, is because you have to build your whole deck around it and get +2 attack on totems(which are usually mostly useless tokens) The DK and Warlock tokes on the other hand are already used and still get a similar if not with a combo better buff.
A slow turn 4 for a constant buff to types of cards you were already going to play(aka ay card that creates or is a minion) seems just like an obvious pick to include in any deck.
Unlike totem your whole deck doesnt have to play around it. This also means it doesnt kill you not drawing Eliza, unlike not drawing the +2 attack on totems. At the end of the day its just 1 card in your deck you may not see some games and at that point it cant really impact you egatively unless you hit it as a topdeck whe you needed an answe for something.
the legendary with the deathrattle basically ups your hero power. Also DK has a lot of small bodies, it's not bad, i'd say.
Frosty Decor is actually good though. It's like 16 health. Cold Case saw play in mage at 4 mana for half as much armor and the skeles didn't have taunt.
frost dk was almost playable before but it desperately needed more dmg to finish your enemies off and it needed more corpse generation

Rarran been having some interesting takes this expansions. I think Elize might be busted
seems slow, like the mistcaller. sure you can trigger it multiple times, but it takes some time, and you have to play stuff after that. we'll see, but it feels really slow for what it does.

@@samueletoniolo7640mainly because spending 4 mana to not immediately impact the board can be really detrimental against aggro decks like hunter, DH, and warlock.
Idk if it'll be any good but Shudderblock + Cabaret Headliner is -6 Mana on one spell of each spell school in your hand. Definitely takes some time to setup but if there's a suitable pay-off like an OTK or mega pop off turn then it might be worth it. If not now then perhaps in the future.

So i think death knight has a slight bit of potential, because of the Eliza and Ghouls Night combo, if the board is empty, just 1 eliza death is enough for a 4 mana pyroblast, however if you gave her reborn, that 4 mana spell could do 15 damage face on an empty board, but if there's 1 minion left with 1-3 hp you could still do massive damage to face.

Eliza is a good card, but will probably be stuffed by the meta, like so many good cards are. DK has yelling yodeller combos, new synergies that gice eliza reborn, she has two tribes, which may lead to tutoring and discovering her, AND SHE IMPACTS YOUR HERO POWER!
Eliza 1000% has a place in rainbow DK, that deck can play so many tokens that get so much better after she goes off. I think the problem will be consistency, T1 deck when you have her on 4, T3 deck if you never draw her.

the issue is, unless you actually have a pirate tutor in dk or an undead tutor in warlock, she's probably gonna be bad.
you have a 30% chance to get her in 10 draws, which makes her pretty inconsistent.
imo she does absolutely need duplication to work, otherwise you're basically just having a hunter hero power.
though the location might make her work.

But like he said that’s in Disneyland. Even if you have meltemental on board since it’ll more than likely survive, you still have to spend an extra mana for the spell and you likely won’t have a second minion on board. As for the location, it’s very rare you’ll have 3 corpses to spend on turn 4 if you took turn 2 to play the location.
Don’t get me wrong I’m super optimistic for Eliza (despite the rune drawback) but it’s really hard to trigger the effect more than once.

I think it’s definitely going to be used and better than a lot of people give it credit for but it won’t be meta or anything unless it somehow powers a consistent hyper aggro rainbow deck

I love the BGs Undead strat of “Six 10/1’s with Reborn”, and I think that’s what they’re trying with Eliza. I don’t think that’s relevant on ladder where they can Southsea your face tho

I imagine the inspiration came from battlegrounds where undead’s gimmick is constantly getting +1 attack for the rest of the game.

Thematically, she's a pure Death Knight card that, mechanically,Warlock has access to this expansion, and Death Knight likewise has access to Shaman cards.
So just think of her as a Death Knight card.
I think the issue with the Rune system is that they made duel rune cards to quickly (cards with more then one type of rune on it). I and I assume a lot of people expected them to eventually do duel rune cards, but I did not except them to do it in mini-set where death knight was released. I think they should of waited for at least two expansions before releasing duel rune cards, simply to let the individual runes gain power and identity.
To me it kind of feels like a limitation the Hearthstone team kind of regrets putting on themselves, if that makes sense.
eliza with a deck that has ways to proc deathrattles/reborn seem good, but tourist is only cards from this set, so
[reverberations, cursed campaign| sinister soulcage, deathgrowl, yelling yodler, boneshredder], zola, ravenous kraken and cover artist might make it relevant.
if you have a bunch of cards like that that are great when copied, it might make a deck, there's a surprising amount of ways to dupe it..
also you might be able to make a meme deck using colifero the artist and only summon spells.
(meme because unless you have a way to shuffle back or get colifero early, your plans will be ruined when you draw wrong )

Would the brittle buccaneer not be amazing for excavate warlock? Get snakes faster/ more than 2 snakes a game?
For 7 mana, you could go Brittlebone Buccaneer into Frosty Decor and create two 2/4 Elementals with Taunt, Reborn, and 'Deathrattle: Gain 4 Armor'.
That means you effectively have two 2/8 Taunt minions that give you 8 armor when killed, which essentially translates to 32 points of potential damage block your opponent has to contend with if they don't otherwise have an answer for it. For 7 mana...
The reborn buff is when you "play" a deathrattle minion, won't work for the ones summoned from the spell.
When a minion resummons from reborn it has 1 hp, not full
The 2/4s essentially become 2/5s

@@Murks33 You can never be 100% certain that the interactions will fully match the card text, because somebody might have flubbed something up in programming or there might have been a miscommunication in the final design, but you are correct. I just work under the presumption that 'play' and 'summon' are effectively the same thing until proven otherwise because it helps showcase the absolute strongest theoretical version of the card.

As someone who actually likes the shaman cards from the recent sets, even if they're not top of the meta. for me these new cards are just okay, not super exciting and don't look as fun as the last sets. I think the legendary might have potential with shaman, the 6 damage might work similarly to kalimos and there are other interesting ideas. But I don't really wanna run a lot of spell schools
I feel there is going to be some sort of weird exodia thing for warlock where they clear the board, frotbitten freebooter hits 6 times for 30 on the frozen enemy hero.
Content Idea: Build decks that are based around legaue campions vs Eddy (or me :p).

I think Death Knight looks quite good actually. Their efforts on the rune system are getting less and less exciting, but the power level is still there IMO. The 2 F rune card looks stinky, but the rest have a lot of synergy.

My rainbow deck is so desperate for corpses I’m 100 playing mining casualties and dreadhound handler, and crop rotation and ghouls night and I’m gonna be happy about it.
The ONLY issue with Eliza is an aggro DK deck is just 10 times worse than handbuff paladin. Handbuff paladin snuffs out any other fast deck and needs to get gutted in order for any new cards to see play.
Not only does Eliza makes no sense being a Blood/Frost card (the tank + spell burst specs), she doesn't even makes sense as a DK card. Why? Because in WoW she is a rogue, is part of the Combat Artifact from back in Legion. So that's double dumb.
I mean she died, got resurrected, she's a DK minion now, makes total sense.
1. Eliza is going to be *disgusting* , the card is *deceptively* strong the more you think about it.
2. But I do agree that, overall, Death Knight's cards are pretty damn underwhelming for the most part. At least in terms of power level

11:50 Wow that Dreadhound Handler is one of the best 2 drops that's ever been in the game. Definitely better than Mining Casualties, which is already one of the best, if not the best, 2 drops of all time.
Eliza is also being incredibly underrated I think, this is strictly better than a buff that gives all minions in your hand/deck/board +1 attack, because it also interacts with generated minions, reborn, and your hero power.
The problem I have with Eliza, ironically, isn't the effect. Its the Runes. I HATE the fact that the Rune system, instead of a fun deckbuilding tool and an interesting design challenge, has just been relegated to a way for them to superficially limit cards.
(I mean, why the hell is the Headless Horseman not a generic DK Hero card? Its NOT that OP, especially compared to Reno, Lone Ranger which has been nerfed TWICE and is still one of the most powerfull cards ever printed)
Plus, while I love Rainbow DK, it has been getting TOO MUCH support.
Triple Frost and Blood are DEAD in Standard right now and Triple Unholy is hanging by a thread thanks to the Plague strategy.
Its a mess and most of the carss fof the last 2 , now 3, expansions have done nothing to alleviate it.

I really don't buy the Eliza hype. Genuinely what is the payoff people are seeing that I'm not? The main thing I can think of is the disneyland scenario where you somehow get 5 procs of the deathrattle off in a single match and play Ghouls' Night on an empty board for a shitty OTK. Like, genuinely, what am I missing? Crop Rotation already full clears almost any board under most circumstances, if you want to buff Quiltor and Gnome-Muncher you'll have a much easier time of it with handbuff, Reska already had no trouble killing most things, and Primus already forces hard-removal, making him trade better is meaningless. Eliza can't be put into aggro because her runes are wrong and she's too slow... genuinely what are you people seeing that I'm not?

Okay but like. What are you getting out of the effect? What benefit does spamming Eliza’s deathrattle get you that Death Knight cannot already accomplish? Why would I use Boneshredder on Eliza’s effect instead of Reska’s or Puppet Master’s? You have the potential for the Ghoul’s Night OTK against an empty board, sure, but like… that’s seriously slow as balls.

tourist leggos are for their class only, otherwise you could infinite chain
Warlock can use death knight cards if they have a tourist, Death knight can use shaman cards if they have a tourist. It goes on in a circle which can't go back
So you can't use the good tourist on dk, and warlock has better things to do than giving slight buffs to the minions
Dk can use the non-tourist Shaman legendary

@@DavidSmith-cr7mb I know. I was being sarcastic. I think it can be an impactfull effect on a class like DK for 4 mana on a stick. The two mana shadow hunter spell with a similar effect is cheaper and you can run two of but came with no body which a bigger tempo loss and didn't affect summons and still was arguably a good spell. I bet this one is at a base level a decent card with a lot of potential. In wild you can run it in an even deck and can be tutored with captain's parrot (not that its good but its possible).

Let's say you get lucky and play it turn 4. You then leave 6 more turns playing 8 minions (I'm being very generous) is doing 8 extra damage over 4 turns worth it? No. How much damage does that card need to give before you lose for it to have been worth it? Maybe like 15 to 20 damage? How possible is that every game considering you have to draw and have it killed? I think if you can give your minions +2 atk the rest of the game it's probably worth it.
@@Taziod you are going to be playing this card in a swarm style decks, so 8 minions is falling short by a huge margin. Crop Rotation by itself is half of that count and now becomes a mini Scale of Onyxia. If anything this card is somewhat comparable to the Stonewright. If you can play it on curve it can potentially be a game changer. Not saying its a hall of fame card, but its quite decent at the very least. "Not that good" it's just lazy crap bro.
