This game is legit one of the greatest fighting games ever made and nobody talks about it. Everything about it, from the audio design, the music, and the FUCKING STAGES. Wolverine's stage is easily the greatest fighting game stage of all time.
Watching this brings back so many memories. 2D fighting games need more stage destruction into stage transition, Instead of just knocking the opponent into the next area.

yep. Capcom showed a lot of love doing this game. i only wish it had a bigger character cast (looking back, it's not fair that they only saved Thor for Cap's ending, for one thing), but even so MSH is still phenomenal.

Y’know, much as we want a new MvC, I honestly wouldn’t mind another Marvel-only game using the Capcom fighting engine. Heck with how huge and full of variety the Marvel stable is now, why not a 2v2 or 3v3 Marvel-only game? Like say if they make slight tweaks to the Ultimate Alliance 3 roster, I feel that would already be good.
This game is where the gameplay got a lot more fluid and faster paced, similar to the later VS games, love this game man. And i still stand by the character select screen being one of the very best in fighting game history.
Its because the VS games are more flashy and the tag system took to much memory from the ram, so they have to cut frames per second to make those games viable from cps2 system
This is it. This is the game that really got me into fighting games. I had played plenty of SFII at home, but going to the arcade and seeing how beautiful and fun MSH was made me want to keep coming back to play it and improve. My dad's not so much into video games, but he liked Iron Man, and this had him in it. So we'd visit the arcade at the mall almost every week to play MSH. I then saved up enough money to buy my own Sega Saturn with a copy of MSH, and we'd play together at home (Dad also loved Virtua Cop). Lots of great memories stemming from Marvel Super Heroes. I'll never get tired to playing this.
I used to play this game ALL the time on PS1, I always loved Shuma-Gorath's music theme and Spiderman's stage was my favorite. So many memories of holding tournaments with my buddies and my cousins with this game, I love it!
That many of them basically shared engines and hardware platforms helped a LOT. As did not really caring a flip about that pesky thing called "competitive balance". Just make 'em all rich and broken (more because of the overall play system than the characters themselves, really), and relatively unbuggy, and let the players figure shit out.

God I hated Thanos in MSH. That game introduced me to the character, the bastard stealing all of the stones you've collected through arcade mode was so so douchey. Still one of my favorites Marvel Capcom fighters, I had it on Sega Saturn as a kid.

I had no idea what the game was, but I remember I played Wolverine and there was destructible stages. It's drove me mad for years! I'm just realizing that Thanos did not keep a lot of his special moves from this game as a boss to MVC2 as a playable character. And MVCi Thanos is a completely different character.
This one tries to bring some method to X-Men's madness, but was still an awesome game that let you still do some crazy things if you could figure them out! First time I played, I had Captain America, and when I saw Magneto was my opponent, I thought. "Uh oh, I'm screwed." Of course this was before I knew what it meant to nerf a character.
I still watch it... I loved the Dynamics between Magic and Technology... Essentially Manipulation of reality through the Self, or through Design of external devices to achieve the same goal. That was only one incarnation of that duality.... Essentially one for the kids to use as recall.

I adore how this game looks and sounds. Sure, the game is broken even by Marvel standards, but it's got that certain "something" that I just can't quite put into words. If I were to show someone what Capcom were like during their prime, this is the title I would use as an example.

Death is the purple robed lady. The demon tossing a skull is Mephisto. Thanos's "waifu" is (I think) Nebula. The stone statues in the BG are petrified Drax, Nova, beardy Thor, She-Hulk, and Scarlet Witch. The comics recently retconned SW so that she and her brother are neither mutants nor Magneto's biological children.
It's funny that Shuma-Gorath would appear in the Versus series years before Doctor Strange I've read somewhere that he was included because tentacles = funny

Marvel Super Heroes, my favorite Marvel fighting game! Always preferred 1v1 more than team VS games (as a spectator it’s very fun to watch).

Watching the computer actually beat you a few times makes me feel soooooo much better about losing to the unreal cheese of these old games. I still prolly suck, just not as much as I thought lol

Wish they had given hulk a better move set beyond the gamma charge. Other moves area just OK. Wish he had a sweep normal. And his super connected easier
Death is the purple robed lady. The demon tossing a skull is Mephisto. Thanos's "waifu" is (I think) Nebula. The stone statues in the BG are petrified Drax, Nova, beardy Thor, She-Hulk, and Scarlet Witch. The comics recently retconned SW so that she and her brother are neither mutants nor Magneto's biological children.
