Good video and to the point. My spa check valves work fine after replacing them as you suggested however if my spa drain is left in the open position, the spa will drain to pool level. Is it okay to add a check valve to the spa drain line ? Is a check valve on the drain side of the filter considered okay ? PS, I subscribed to your channel.
Thanks! You can add a check valve where ever you want to, there's no problem. Just make sure the flow arrow is pointing the direction of the flow of the water.
Possibly, but 99% of the time it's a failed check valve with these symptoms. Once you replace check valve internals and something is still leaking when the pump is off, then investigate other possibilities. Thanks for the question and take care.
I have a different video that shows how I added a check valve to the spa side that never had one to stop the spa from equalizing to the pool every night.
On older pools they didn't usually put a check valve in on the spa return, so check out one of my plumbing videos where I show how I added a spa check valve.
Thank you very much.
Yep!
Good video, explained exactly what my problem is. Thanks!
Great to hear! Thanks!
Thank you
You're welcome

@@genesouth9517 Sure thing.
Could the leak also be from a leaking diverter in a jandy 3 port valve? Thanks for the video

Hello, my issue why spa water drains during heating the water. What should I look for?
Either the pump is on a low speed or a valve is not set correctly in spa mode.
Replaced both valves and still draining down, what’s next?
You must have some valve in your piping that is allowing the spa water to escape from the spa and equalize to the pool.

Thanks for the feedback, didn’t see the second video, what’s the name? Thanks for all the great pool info btw

Fixed it by rebuilding the 2 Jandy diverter valves that switch over from pool to spa. Thanks for your help and advice.
I cannot for the life of me find the check valve and the previous owner thinks it might be underground. Would anyone ever bury a check valve?
It is rare, but if that pool builder was stupid, they may have buried it.
