I agree with Michael that this is a super positive community. It’s very rare to find that in niche communities. Joyce is such a vital part of that. Flexing that Fe!!
I've known some other INTJs who are also into rock climbing. Rock climbing may appear at first glance to be a brawny, pure Se activity, but it's really 90% mental and 10% physical, involving sequential puzzles and intelligently applied technique. It's also very balletic: good climbing is usually pretty. Climbing is already popular with INTJs, but if you haven't tried it, it's a great way to pound through some Se within comfortable framework.
My brain would be like something that looks like Narnia lmao, and im just walking there and it feels infinite and then i found a castle and i investigate it but I also have my own house
The topic of shame is pretty interesting. I previously thought of it as a negative thing. According to Connection Codes (I'm trying to be more intentional about communicating and processing emotions), shame is actually something that we are born with. Our emotions can be viewed on a brain scan, and can be categorized into 5 areas (pleasure, fear, anger, sad/lonely/hurt, guilt/shame). The emotions that make us feel emotional pain in some way allow us to know there's a problem to fix, just like with physical pain. It feels bad but actually a good thing for our survival and for our ability to socially connect on a deeper level with others. If I feel ashamed of the way I consistently behave in an area of my life and have low self-esteem in that area, that shame can be a tool to motivate me to either improve in that area, or get to the root of why I feel that shame and possibly adjust a perspective or core belief I have developed that isn't serving me well. We often view emotions as either good or bad, but even pleasure/joy emotions can be pursued in an unhealthy way (eg. addiction). Now I view emotions as tools for self-growth and also as a way to connect with others on a more intimate level.
YES, John, regarding happiness and expectations. I tell this to the NFs in my life all the time. Lower your expectations and happiness is sooooooo much more likely.
When the question about what your mind would look like came up I straight away thought of darkness so when Michael said dark space (as a fellow intj) I freaked out a little 😂 I felt so seen lol
You guys are so nice! hahaha I feel like I'm hearing a lot of self-censoring in this one coming from 2 types that tend to speak their minds! I'd like to hear you guys continue these conversations, chilled out, maybe with a couple bourbons in a living room...when you're not concerned of any repercussions from speaking your minds about any of the controversial topics :) I really appreciate this talk and these 3 people...all of them solid, interesting and kind. Thanks again Joyce!
I already commented, but can I say I agree wholeheartedly with what ESFP John said about the news. I do the same thing here in Australia, and try to see what foreign news outlets say about us, because our own media has trouble staying objective, as would any other country. I find foreign outlets notice things that we don't, especially when we're all caught up bickering and can't see the forest from the trees.
Definitely. Mainstream media is laughable at this point...painfully predictable in their social engineering tactics, and the conflicts of interest in their sponsor funding is nuts. I keep reading/watching it just to stay on top of what they're doing next.
@@CricketRodeo Personally I do prefer to stick to mainstream media, but some are better than others, and some are freer than others. I get very cautious when people use the phrase "mainstream media", because I feel like they're about to try and recruit me to their weird political cult and drag me down some conspiracy theory rabbit hole. I like the big outlets with a long established history. BBC, Reuters, AP, PBS, ABC (Australia), DW, etc. Yes, some have biases, but I try to get a mix. I don't like cable news, especially not American cable news. And as much as I loathe Fox News and CNN, I'll take them any day over that weirdo stuff like OAN and Newsmax -- any news outlet that actively advocates for a political party or politician isn't news.
@@johnknight9150 yeah no problem. I get it. I use the term "mainstream media" because I think most people understand what that term means. No worries...no political cults here :) I think there will always be political and financial bias, conspiracies and people trying to gain more power and wealth for their families and future. It's just the way the world works, unfortunately. A sort of survival of the fittest. Many are willing to cheat, commit hidden crimes (or look the other way), and are being rewarded and promoted for them (without reward they likely wouldn't commit these acts). The mainstream, governments and dominating majority societal beliefs become the largest target for corruption due to the most potential for reward. I believe that often many who maintain a long established history don't necessarily due so by way of integrity, but lack thereof. Not to say I won't listen to anyone with a long established history, but I wouldn't necessarily trust them because of that. I'm very cautious as well of hype conspiracy channels and social media, with people sharing things without references or any credible logic to back it up. The mainstream has gotten so obvious with their political and financial bias and almost all spouting the same phrases and agendas that I don't trust a word they say either. I'll always listen and consider though, as I find it always important to be open and seek various and opposing perspectives to have a more full understanding of any argument. I think we're on the same page here...both weary of all the untruthful and overly biased garbage.

I only just learned that there was a new MacBeth out today when I visited the cinema and I honestly thought it was just a rerun of the Fassbender version. Didn't know it was a new one with Denzel Washington. This is the most important part of the 2 hour video chat for me.

The whole funny conversation about John's water bottle is an actual conversation my esfp husband and I have had! I always griped about cleaning those! Then he showed me the top popped apart! Lol Still bothers me. 😆
Solution for ESFJ's on panel: find esfj's that are with intj's (ask the intjs) ; they will be more into type. My friend of over 20 years is esfj and she's very into it due to her hubby & me lol.
I am not sure if I agree with the idea of not letting type influence your partner, because I am not sure if you actually get better long term results if you just ignore such a thing. On one hand you could say it's a missed oppertunity if someone is not the good type and you pass on them, but the same time this this frees up time and oppertunity to get to know someone else who theoretically might have a higher chance to match with you naturally. It's a matter of statistics. You might have a higher chance to immediatetely search in a group of people whom have a higher chance of matching you than in a random group of people.

Cool thought. 15:40 they both said an approximation of respective tyrants (Si for John and Ne for Michael)

This meeting was so lovely
I loved Alyssa’s question about the mind. That’s a really tough one to answer!
That was a good way of seeing it. I’m an esfp and that is a better question to ask myself instead of raging. What about this person bothers me. 🥴
5:55 that's like everyone should try to do omg

6:10 EXACTLY!!! Great point, John.
35:55 hahaha I hate it when that happens. Especially when I watch something I don’t agree with and then it is ALWAYS COMING BACK 😭

Missed out on this one but gonna re-watch it. Exciteddd
this was unexpectedly short in terms of some answers, i would have guessed this type pairing would talk more or would want to say more about things.
